Sheep senses and social cognition

Sheep senses and social cognition Sheep generally are held in low regard as far as cognition and social skills are concerned. However there is now interesting evidence from studies of their behaviour and brain function that they have highly sophisticated social and emotional recognition skills using faces, voices and smell. They are able to recognize and remember many diferent sheep and humans for several years or more and appear to have some capacity for forming mental images of the faces of absent individuals. The precence of such social cognition abilities in this species means that we must pay careful attention to welfare factors such as the composition and stability of their social environment as well as the nature of our own interactions with them.

Polar bear communication

Sight v A Polar bear's eyes are dark brown, set relatively close together, and look forward. v The eyesight of a Polar bear appears to be similar to humans. v Polar bears have a protective membrane over their eyes that may help shield the eyes from ultraviolet light. v Polar bears have excellent underwater vision as they can flatten their lens, very much like us wearing goggles. v They can hold their breath for two minutes and dive to depths of around 3 metres. Smell v They're such a unique animal. For instance, their sense of smell is acute, and it's the most important sense for detecting prey. v Polar bears have the ability to smell their prey more than 32 kilometres away, so when our Polar bears are looking for their food, you'll notice they point their nose to the sky to find the different scents. v The nose is broad and black, their sense of smell is acute, and it is the most important sense for detecting prey.

History and types of sandwich

bread, jelly or substitute for peanut butter. INTERESTING FACTS November 3rd is National Sandwich Day. The world’s largest sandwich weighed 5,440 pounds. The most expensive sandwich ever sold was a grilled toast sandwich that seemed to have an image of the Virgin Mary on it. It sold for $28,000 in 2004. Why do sandwiches taste better when someone makes them for you? This is mainly because when we make food for ourselves, we get desensitized to the smell, and a large part of tasting is actually smelling. So when you make food for yourself and eat it, it’s similar to tasting without smelling. When someone else does the cooking for you, and ideally when you’re in another room, where you can’t smell it, the result is different. END Thank you and i hope you all didn’t get too hungry while listening to me.

Helen keller ja Anne Sullivan

Helen had written a story entitled "The Frost King" for Anagnos's birthday. It was a lot like a story Helen had heard once, long before, and perhaps she remembered parts of it without realizing it. Some people said Helen's writing was just too good for someone who couldn't see or hear nature with her own eyes and ears. 7. But Helen had spent most of her childhood outside! Anne had taught Helen many things outside of the classroom. She taught her to touch, smell, and experience nature. She wanted Helen to be curious, ask questions, and to discover the world around her. And, for the rest of her life, Helen loved to smell and touch flowers, to feel the wind on her face...she was curious about everything!

Setsubun

Setsubun ("seasonal division") Is a fesitival in Japan celebrating the beginning of spring. It's held on 3 or 4 of February which isone day before the beginning of spring according to Japanese lunar calendar. This day was to chase away the evil spirits from the winter. This holiday is not very popular anymore although some people still decorate their houses with holy tree leaves and fish heads. In the 13th century it was a popular custom, people belived that the smell of burning trees and the sound of drums would scare the spirits away. Nowadays it's more common to throw rosted beans into houses, temples an shrines. Ou are supposed to shout ,,Oni wa soto! Fuku wa uchi!" while throwing the beans which means ,,Devils out! Happiness in!". Then you should pick up the number of peas as old you are and eat them.

How can we make our cities more environmentally friendly?

How can we make our cities more environmentally friendly? If I walk along the city streets, I feel a terrible smell. That comes from cars. It makes me feel very ill. Then I just have to step on trash, because people can't wait and look for a bin. That's why our streets are so dirty. Everywhere I go, there are always some workmen building big houses. If we improved public transport or made electric cars, our streets wouldn't be so polluted. In Tallinn, for example, the air there is so polluted, that you can hardly breathe there.

Those people are called passive smokers. Children who live in a home where there's a smoker or come in contact with cigarette smoke very often are more likely than average to become smokers themselves when older. They are at increased risk of developing cancer as adults. And they also do worse at reading and reasoning skills compared with children in smoke-free homes, even at low levels of smoke exposure. Smoking also has short term consequences like your breath, clothes, hair, skin, and home smell of tobacco. You do not notice the smell if you smoke, but to non-smokers the smell is obvious and unpleasant. Your sense of taste and smell are dulled. Enjoyment of food may be reduced. Smoking is a serious problem, about 100,000 people in the UK die each year due to smoking. It is very hard to quit smoking but luckily there are things like nicotine patches and gums to help you during the process. But those things won't help you if you lack

Sadly, the fact that it is old, makes it quite enjoyable for the alcoholics to be around the area. It has three checkout counters where you can buy your groceries. The best thing ever about the area and the people is that most of them are actually really talkative and every time I go there, I always meet someone new. The smell in the supermarket is quite neutral, it is nothing special because it surely does not have the aroma of an outside market in the summer. The inside of the building is quite beat down as well but all the groceries are there and easy to find. I would definitely recommend it because if you want to feel nostalgic about the 80's or 90's, then that is the place to go. Bella herself is a well written and realistic character, shy and lacking in confidence, her sarcastic inner voice narrates the story for the reader. Twilight is simply and yet beautifully written. The descriptions of Forks leave you feeling like you can almost smell the damp air and hear the rain falling on the roof. The romance between Edward and Bella is both touching and compelling. There is a melancholic feel to their impossible love, yet at the same time they both are unwilling to give up hope that their relationship is not doomed. The book reaches a fever pitch of excitement as the romance between Bella and Edward turns into a frantic race to stay alive.
