The look is pure subservience. The white-painted face with lips like a red gash is framed by a dead straight curtain of dark gloss hair. It is a stark image of Geisha. This is Madonna the woman who sums up feisty independence in the post-feminist era posing as a silent submissive geisha girl. She is the mistress of reinvention. From the moment the Detroit convent girl hitch-hiked to New York 20 years ago with a burning ambition to be the world's most famous woman, she has shown an amazing talent for transformation. It is no coincidence that Steven Spielberg is looking for a woman of his adaption of Arthur Golden's best-selling novel, Memories of a Geisha. And if her new Geisha look is a part of

War on terror

Originally, it was waged against al-Qaeda and other terrorist organizations with the purpose of eliminating them. The phrase War on Terror was first used by former US President George W. Bush and other high-ranking US officials to denote a global military, political, legal and ideological struggle against organizations designated as terrorist and regimes that were accused of having a connection to them or providing them with support or were perceived, or presented as posing a threat to the US and its allies in general. It was typically used with a particular focus on militant Islamists and al-Qaeda. The ideology of violent extremists has been discussed frequently since the tragic events of Septenber 11, 2001. It is clear thet an ideology of Islamist or Islamic political opposition and radicalism has been key to understanding various events and movements that go back even further, to the Islamic Revolution in Iran, for example.

She is a member of the research faculty at the University of Houston Graduate College of Social Work, where she has spent the past ten years studying a concept that she calls Wholeheartedness, posing the questions: How do we engage in our lives from a place of authenticity and worthiness? How do we cultivate the courage, compassion, and connection that we need to embrace our imperfections and to recognize that we are enough— that we are worthy of love, belonging, and joy? This book is full of powerful topics such as self-compassion, acceptance, and gratitude. As a researcher, she observed human behavior so she can identify and name the subtle connections,

And then the dragon awoke. Bosie's father, the violent, eccentric, cantankerous Marquess of Queensberry, became aware that Bosie, whose "unmanly" and careless behaviour he despised, was cavorting around London with its greatest playwright, Oscar Wilde. In 1895, days after the triumphant first night of "The Importance Of Being Earnest", Queensberry stormed into Wilde's club, The Albemarle, and finding him absent left a card with the porter, addressed "To Oscar Wilde posing Somdomite". Bosie, who hated his father, persuaded Oscar to sue the Marquess for libel. As homosexuality was itself illegal, Queensberry was able to destroy Oscar's case at the trial by calling as witnesses rent boys who would describe Wilde's sexual encounters in open court. Oscar lost the libel case against Queensberry and was arrested by the crown. With essentially no credible defence against charges of homosexual conduct, he was convicted and

He returned to London on the milk train the next day. Of the three deaths, one is accidental, one a genuine suicide. The only true murder was Rosaleen's. David had no apparent motive to kill his own sister, especially when it would mean depriving himself of the Cloade fortune. But the woman posing as Rosaleen was not his sister; his sister was killed during the bombing of Gordon Cloade's estate two years earlier. The woman posing as Rosaleen was one of Gordon's housemaids, who became David's lover and his accomplice in obtaining the Cloade fortune. Now he could kill this accomplice and marry Lynn, whom he really loved and who would gain a portion of the fortune through family connections. In the end, no one is tried other than David. the form of air, water and land pollution. If overfishing continues, if pollution continues, many of the species of today will disappear off. Put simply, plastic pollution is when plastic has gathered in an area and has begun to negatively impact the natural environment and create problems for plants, wildlife and even human population. Often this includes killing plant life and posing dangers to local animals. Plastic is an incredibly useful material, but it is also made from toxic compounds known to cause illness, and because it is meant for durability, it is not biodegradable. Plastic pollution does a lot of damage to the world’s ecosystems. Some of the major long-term effects of plastic pollution are: 1. It upsets the food chain because it comes in sizes large and small, polluting plastics even affects the world’s tiniest organisms such as plankton

Drivers of biofuels production Lal (2010) stated that "three inter-connected challenges face humankind in the 21st century": food security, climate change, and energy security. The world population is projected to reach 9 billion in 2050, posing more demands on energy, food, and other natural resources. It has been estimated that the world food production needs to double and meat production increase by 85% by 2050 to fulfill projected demand by population (Karp, 2011). In the recent decades, the food consumption in the most populous counties has shifted from grain-based diets to meat and dairy diets. Meat production requires times more biomass in the form of animal feed and that puts further pressures on natural resources

Interviewers may misinterpret a question, may make errors in administering a questionnaire, or in registering the answers. When posing the question, interviewers may unintentionally change its meaning. By giving additional information or explaining a misunderstood word, they may inappropriately influence a respondent. Even the way interviewers look and dress may influence a respondent in a face-to-face interview. Selecting and training interviewers carefully helps reducing interviewer related errors. Hester Prynne commits the biggest sin of the book, for which she is caught. We can only speculate what would have happened if she didn't confess and wasn't caught. However there were sins she committed that she didn't confess. First, she didn't tell who her accomplice was in committing adultery. For not confessing this she is rewarded and punished. She is rewarded by keeping Dimmesdale as a freind and a confidant. She is punished however by having to watch her husband, posing as Roger Chillingworth slowly kill Dimmesdale. Her decision to not tell who the father of Pearl was may or may not have been the best move. Perhaps if they knew who the father was they would have killed Hester and Pearl. Dimmesdale would have surely been put to death. In the end, it may have been the right choice, or maybe not, that could easily be debated. She also commited a crime when she aided in hiding who Roger Chillingworth was. Once again this desicion led to both good

So when I wanted to learn about the compliance tactics of encyclopedia (or vacuum cleaner, or portrait photography, or dance lesson) sales organizations, I would answer a newspaper ad for sales trainees and have them teach me their methods. Using sim- ilar but not identical approaches, I was able to penetrate advertising, public rela- tions, and fund-raising agencies to examine their techniques. Much of the evidence presented in this book, then, comes from my experience posing as a compliance professional, or aspiring professional, in a large variety of organizations dedicated to getting us to say yes. One aspect of what I learned in this three-year period of participant observa- tion was most instructive. Although there are thousands of different tactics that compliance practitioners employ to produce yes, the majority fall within six basic categories. Each of these categories is governed by a fundamental psycholog-

of meat, that extends lifespan? It most certainly is. 3. Is it possible that you tested a specific demographic and that other variables are responsible for the difference? Example: if the claim is that yoga improves cardiac health, and the experimental group comprises upper-class folk, is it possible that they are therefore more likely than a control group to eat better food? You bet your downward-dog-posing ass. The point isn't to speculate about hundreds of possible explanations. The point is to be skeptical, especially of sensationalist headlines. Most "new studies" in the media are observational studies that can, at best, establish correlation (A happens while B happens), but not causality (A causes B to happen). If I pick my nose when the Super Bowl cuts to a commercial, did I cause that? This isn't a haiku. It's a summary: correlation doesn't prove causation

Return. In the open-ended point of view, the storytelling goes on after the story is over; it continues in the minds and hearts of the audience, in the conversations and even arguments people have in coffee shops after seeing a movie or reading a book. Writers of the open-ended persuasion prefer to leave moral conclusions for the reader or viewer. Some questions have no answers, some have many. Some stories end not by answering questions or solving riddles, but by posing new questions that resonate in the audience long after the story is over. H o l l y w o o d films are often criticized for pat, fairy-tale endings in which all problems are solved and the cultural assumptions of the audience are left undis turbed. By contrast the open-ended approach views the world as an ambiguous, imperfect place. For more sophisticated stories with a hard or realistic edge, the open-ended form may be more appropriate.
