Using Blogs as a Platform in the TEFL

Due to the rapid expansion of technology over the past decade, hypermedia instructional programs have become commonplace. Learners of all ages have increased access to technology such as the World Wide Web, which provides a seemingly limitless amount of information. New technologies such as Mp3, podcasting, and social networking are booming. In contrast to more traditional environments, technology offers greater opportunities for interactivity and learner control. There are more educators and language teachers using the Internet in language teaching as well. Many computer applications, especially asynchronous computer-mediated communication such as email and electronic bulletin boards, promote interactive learning. With the booming growth of technology, blogs have become another learning platform for language teaching. Accordingly, these in turn have provided both teachers and learners with an alternative

obviously driving too fast. And she also made a photo to confirm that. Next witness I caught was Amanda Doogood, the Mellowtown librarian, who told that truck driver were driving absolutely too fast. Another eyewitness was a window washer Juan Sanchez, who was cleaning the windows. I asked also his comment, he said that he was washing windows and he did not saw why truck crashed. As window washer did not noticed something I caught another witness, a student at Mellowtown High School Dick Learner and his dog Spot who went crazy. Dick Learner said that truck was driving too fast and crates on top were moving, so in his point of view truck driver did not lock crates right on the back of his truck. Dirk Wood, who is a carpenter, told me that he did not see the accident but right now is more important to catch all the chickens as soon as possible. I caught another witness John Burke, who is a retired teacher walking with his granddaughter Cindy Burke. Mr. Burke told that he

A letter of application

Unfortunately I do not have any formal work experience, but I have been often told that I am good with money and every time my family have inancial problems or when we are willing to take a loan then my parents always ask my opinion so we could work out the best solution for us. As far as my personality is concerned I would describe myself honest, reliable and hard- working. I am a sociable person and I enjoy working with other as part of a team. I am also a quick learner and very good at maths, which I think is quite important for this job. If you wish me to attend an interview, I am available at any time. Thank you for considering my application. I look forward to hearing from you. Yours faithfully, John Smith

Teaching the Vocabulary of the Text

right, not just as a means comprehension, If we are to bring new vocabulary into active use and not just passive understanding, it is not sufficient for us just to teach it. It should be done in a way, so that teachers should be sure that it is learnt and used. If the words are taught after the target text, then the meaning of the words will be more understandable. In this case, the `matching' is the best thing to learn new words. The definition will be given to a learner and he/she has to find the word with the identical meaning in the text. What should be added to the topic, I believe, not hundred percent of new words will be learnt by students. However, this is a great practice for them, to be able to find associations, approximate meaning of the words, if they know the theme and the material based on the text.

Disadvantages and advantages of using smart-phones in a lesson

For instance, students do not have to waste time anymore for looking up new words from books like in the old times. Now, they can simply enter a word and get it, or when they have to read a excercise or a story, then they can access to it very fast. Also, nowadays society is accustomed to use smart-phones and it is easier to them remember new words or important information. Therefore, smart-phones have advantage to make one a better learner and do things faster. A big disadvantage of using smart-phones is that they can affect ones health and capability. For example, when students begin to use smart-phones at early age and the wolume of work is massive, then it is dreadfully harmful to students eyes and they will get tired easily. It can lead to many health issues like farsightedness and headaches. As well, if students are using smart-phones constantly, they can not manage to do simple things without it and it can ruin ones life

Online music magazines

Online music magazines Making Music report: More playing, but progression is limited and class remains an issue Article by Alex Stevens This article taks about the playing of instruments among the children of UK. Based on the learner-teacher surveys made in 1993, 1996 and 1996 the playing of music instruments among children has increased by 35% since 1999 a new study has found, although issues of access, progression and class remain. More children aged 5-14 say that the 'know how to play' an instrument than in 1999. This suggests that programmes such as Wilder Opportunities have had an effect on the breadth of music-making in the UK. However the aricle suggests that there are still barriers like financial opportunities – the cost of instruments and lessons, then of course the lack of parental support and students not being interested. Of children that...

intimidate other children, verbally, physically or both, in and out of school." It is not the minor behaviour problems that are a part of growing up, such as horseplay, occasional good-natured teasing or even the odd physical scrap between children of equal strength. The most common form is name-calling. Children call others names for many reasons: because the other child is short or fat, is of a different skin colour, or has a lisp, a stutter or a physical disability. Maybe he is a slow learner or wears clothes that differ from the run of the mill. Victims are often smaller or weaker than average, or shy and insecure. Boys bully more than girls, and the tormenting is more often physical. Debra J. Pepler of the LaMarsh Centre for Research on Violence and Conflict Resolution at York University has reported that 23 percent of boys surveyed said they had engaged in bullying, compared to only eight percent of girls. Among victims, however, both genders were equally affected

Constructivism theory

As a paradigm or worldview, constructivism (as a learning theory) states that learning is an active, contextualized process of constructing knowledge rather than acquiring it. Knowledge is constructed based on personal experiences and hypotheses of the environment. Learners continuously test these hypotheses through social negotiation. Each person has a different interpretation and construction of knowledge process. The learner is not a blank slate (tabula rasa) but brings past experiences and cultural factors to a situation The term ,,Constructivism" was first introduced to IR theory in 1989 by Nicholas Onuf. It was first considered as an interpretive meta-theory, a reflectivist approach. It emphasizes the social construction of world affairs as opposed to the claim of (neo)realists that international politics is shaped by the rational-choice behaviour/decisions of egoist actors who pursue their interests

action, loss of personal norms, conformity and social roles. Anything that strips us of our personal identity (e.g. uniforms, anonymity) can produce feelings of deindividuation. A series of studies on obedience by Milgrim were carried out among men and women from 20 to 50 years of age. The participants were told that they are in an experiment about the effects of punishment on memory. The participant became the teacher and another participant, who was actually a confederate, became the learner. The teacher was supposed to give an electrical shock to the learner every time he got an answer wrong. As the errors mounted, the shock level increased (so thought the teacher, no shocks were actually given). Towards the end, the learner started protesting and acted as in pain and the cried became more dramatic each time. When the participant hesitated, the experimenter issued one or more escalading commands. The maximum level of possible shock was 450V

be placed. It can come in many forms, ranging from social media posts to website cookies. In a game, it involves setting up viable moves, making the data easily accessible for future use. In voice recognition applications it is required to make separate databases for different languages. - A set of instructions is set, on what to do with the data by selecting algorithms and setting the goal in mind. In a game, it can be achieved by granting the learner points for every right choice he does and penalizing for bad ones according to the algorithm used. - It is necessary to evaluate the models in hand by comparing the success of the algorithms and then cherry-picking the best ones from them. A good example is a demonstration of DeepMind playing a game of StarCraft II, where AI, named AlphaStar had plenty of different winning team configurations [13][14]. This whole

You can learn by listening, learn by seeing, or learn by feeling and movement. Each person uses all three modalities to learn, but each person also has what is called a preferred learning style. ➤ The Visual Learner Visuals like to see things clearly in front of them. They process infor- mation with their eyes. They have acute senses of sight and like to meet friends and business associates personally. If you give them verbal information on business results, they will ask, “Do you have that in writing?” They are avid readers. After initial greetings and pleasantries are exchanged, the researcher begins to explain the procedures to be followed. He says that the experiment is a study of how punishment affects learning and memory. Therefore, one participant will have the task of learning pairs of words in a long list until each pair can be recalled per- fectly; this person is to be called the Learner. The other participant's job will be to test the Learner's memory and to deliver increasingly strong electric shocks for every mistake; this person will be designated the Teacher. Naturally, you get a bit nervous at this news. Your apprehension increases when, after drawing lots with your partner, you find that you are assigned the Learner role. You hadn't expected the possibility of pain as part of the study, so you briefly consider leaving
