Parmupill

Parmupill on Eestisse jõudnud ilmselt sakslaste vahendusel. Vanim Eestimaal leitud parmupill on pärit 13. sajandi algusest. Seejuures on naljakas, et üldtuntud ingliskeelne parmupilli nimetus jew's harp ehk ,,juudi harf" on ajalooline kurioosum, sest juutidele pole see pill üldse omane! Tegelikult pidanuks olema jaw's harp ehk sõna-sõnalt ,,lõualuu harf", kuid kirjastajatel läksid tähed kunagi segi ja nii on isegi teaduslikes väljaannetes kinnistunud sisuliselt ebatäpne nimetus jew's harp. Eestis on parmupillil olnud samuti mitmeid nimetusi

Harf

Seda harfitüüpi nimetatakse nurkharfiks. Harfide vanimad kujutised kunstis pärinevad Vana-Egiptuse 6000 aastat tagasi (need olid eessambaga) ja Pärsiast 5000 aastat tagasi. Näppekeelpille on traditsiooniliselt mainitud ka Piiblis, eriti seoses kuningas Taavetiga, kuid vastava heebrea sõna "nevel" tähendus on teadmata: see võib tähendada ka lüürat, lautot või isegi flööti. Sellele segadusele on kaasa aidanud asjaolu, et ajalooliselt on ingliskeelne sõna harp tähistanud mitte üksnes harfi, vaid enam-vähem iga keelpilli, mida ei mängita poognaga, alates parmupillist (jew's harp) ja suupillist (french harp) kuni orelini välja. Sageli on mõistlik ingliskeelne harp tõlkida kandleks. Vanad kreeklased tundsid küll mitut sorti kolmnurkharfe (trigonon, sambuuk), kuid omaseks see pill neile ei saanud. Nad eelistasid lüürat.Lääne-Euroopasse jõudis harf 8. sajandil mauride kaudu, kes sel ajal Pürenee poolsaare vallutasid. Harf praegu

Wales

David's day. The leek is one of the national symbols of Wales and is also worn on Saint David's day. According to one legend the soldiers of Wales had to wear it on their helmets to recognize themselves in battles. The tradition of carving lovespoons goes back to the 17th century as it was popular pastime for sailors at the sea. Nowadays lovespoons have become extremely popular as souvenirs and gift, because they are unique to Wales. The triple harp is the national instrument of Wales. It has been used for ages as an accompaniment to folk-singing and dancing and as a solo instrument. It is called triple harp because it has three rows of strings. By the end of the 18th century the triple harp was widely known as the welsh harp because of its popularity in Wales. Sessile Oak is the national tree of Wales, where it is also called Welsh Oak and it is also used to make furniture. It is a large tree up to 20-40 meters tall.

In Gaelic speaking Ireland song entered into every aspect of life from birth to work to keening for the dead. The musical activity of the ruling class centered around Dublin. It was European music and very important at banquets and ceremonial occasions. Bagpipes Bagpipes, while not quite as ancient as the harp, have been played in Ireland three or four hundred years longer. The bagpipe features a bladder made of leather that is inflated through a pipe by the breath of the musician. The inflated bag is held under the arm and pressed with the elbow to force air through several reeded pipes that are attached to the bag. The musician plays by alternately covering the various holes on one of the pipes, called the chanter, producing the melody. The remaining pipes are

flown separately on land. The use of the first union flag (uniting the crosses of England and Scotland) remained restricted, being allowed only at sea from 1634 onwards on ships in the Royal Navy. For a period of two hundred years, a great variety of ensigns, jacks and pennants were devised, and all were essentially variations of the Union Jack displaying the recognised British colours. In the period known as the Protectorate (1649-60) the well-known golden Irish harp was also displayed in one variation of the union flag. It was, however, removed with the restoration of Charles II in 1660. In the Act of Union (1707), by which England and Scotland joined together as the United Kingdom, the two combined crosses were officially recognised in order to reflect the preceding political events. Art must deal with eternal problems and not be engaged in everyday business.4 The stylistic development of Pärt proceeded on the original platform of his world view and artistic credo. It was expressed in his next works, which the composer started at the end of 1975, under the common title Tintinnabuli (Little Bells). Works for different chamber ensembles, but also Cantus In Memory of Benjamin Britten (for strings, harp and campana, 1977), double concerto for two violins, strings and prepared piano Tabula Rasa (1977), Italian Concerto for Violin, Cello and Strings (1978). The music is based in many aspects on a new composition method, where the rational and the emotional have been combined in a laconic germ; all is “pressed together”. At the same time, the form is very plastic and not in traditional schemes. In treatment two typical traits can be observed: 1
