Jane Eyre

Rochester was because of his mysterious and deep appearance. Jane must have felt really special that she cought his eye out of all the women. That despite all the bitterness she was the only chosen one that could mend his broken heart and offer him happiness. She'd help him change his old ways and together they would live happy ever after. The same phenomenon often repeats itself in other books and even in life. It might even be a motherly instinct for women to try to rescue a troubled handsome male. Whatever the reason might be the deep and handsome characters attract women not only in books but also in the real world.

"The perfect man"

Holly is this teenage girl, who is very shy and doesn't let anyone close. Adam is a very talented young artist, who is very handsome and sometimes doesn't know, what he's doing. Jean is this interesting mom, who has got hurt so many times, that she's afraid of men. She is a really bad rolemodel to her daughters at first, but when she pulls herself together and learns from her mistakes, then she is wonderful. And Zoe is a very smart and funny young lady. Ben is this handsome man, who owns a restaurant. He ois a complete romantic and knows about women a lot. My final comment is that it's one of the best films these days. I recommend it to all of you. I could watch it over and over again without getting bored. Kerli Hämarik, 10.b

Description of an Interesting Person I Have Met

It was early morning in Finland when I had just waked up. I was very tired, and I decided to go to the beach and just lie on the hot sand and sunbathe. When I creamed myself somebody bumped into me and that was him. He was chasing volleyball and after he had bumped into me he apologized and asked me to play volleyball with his friends and I agreed. He wore chequered shorts and his upper body was naked. He was very handsome, because he was about 180cm long, muscular and strong physiognomy. He had wavy nose, blonde stylish hair, thick lips, bright colour brows and deep blue eyes. He was very friendly .I laughed most of the time with him, because he known a lot of anecdotes and he had done so much funny things in his life. I am very surprised about the way he looked and the way he acted, because everything was so great.

Pride and Prejudice Book report

main male protagonist. Darcy is the wealthy owner of an estate in Derbyshire. He is handsome and intelliigent, but judgmental and concerned with social status. Soon there was a public ball in the village of Meryton, where Mr. Bingley demonstrates his admiration for Jane Bennet. Jane falls in love with him. I personally like the couplet, because they are quite open-minded to each other and they are more drollier than Mr.Darcy and Elizabeth. At first Darcy finds Elizabeth tolerable, but not handsome enough to tempt him, but as the plot evolves Darcy begins to admire her, though Elizabeth dislikes him. Mr.Collins arrives for a visit to the estate in order to marry. He asks Elizabeth, who refuses him. Collins marries Charlotte Lucas. Lizzie is disappointed in Charlotte. I find the marriage also inconvenient, because Charlotte would be unhappy with Collins. Elizabeth meets a young officer, Mr.Wickham, with who Elizabeth became a friend for a while

A film review of The Last Song

A film review of The Last Song The Last Song is a 2010 American romantic drama film. It is produced by Adam Shankman, directed by Julie Anne Robinson and screenplay by Nicholas Sparks. That film is all about one teenager girl- Ronnie. She is going to spend a summer with her dad and a little brother. At Tybee Island, Georgia, Ronnie falls in love to a handsome volleyball player- Will. That summer is a memorable for a Ronnie, because she is going to reconnect a relationship with her dad (since parents divorse they have not commune). Miley Cyrus (as Ronnie) is a all time favourite movie actor. She has made many good movies, including The Last Song. Miley did a great job. I really like how she acted and played her role very well. The whole film places were perfect. There was not anything difficult to understand, everything were clearly understood.

A book worth reading

A book worth reading A year ago I managed to find time to read an extremely profound book entitled The Fault in Our Stars. This tragic, yet realistic drama was written by John Green, a famous author of young-adult fiction, and it provides a valuable insight into the life of children fighting with cancer. The Fault in Our Stars is about a teenage girl Hazel, who has stage 4 thyroid cancer. Hazel’s daily routine contains taking meds, reading books and taking part of the support group meetings for cancer- fighters. In the support group she meets an extraordinarily handsome boy Augustus, who, full of metaphores and mystery, catches Hazel’s attention immediately. As the plot evolves, these two spectacularily appalling figures get close and share unique experiences. Together they help out a friend dealing with the loss of a girlfriend, travel to the Netherlands to meet Hazel’s favourite author and much more. Unlike any other teenage-cliche ...

My ideal mate

"My Ideal Mate" I could come up with a very long list of qualities and attributes that I would like for my ideal mate to possess. First of all, I would like for him to have a great personality and sense of humor. He should be kind, loyal, honest, loving, sincere, affectionate, and caring. He should also possess the qualities of maturity, integrity, and generosity. He must have good morals and values and be a non-smoker and non-drinker. I would like for my ideal man to be handsome and attractive in his appearance. He would need to be open to the ideas of commitment, marriage, and starting a family someday, because that is very important to me. My ideal mate would be a wonderful husband and father. He should be able to openly communicate his thoughts and feelings and share everything that is important to him with me. I would like for our relationship to be the kind of loving, trusting relationship that everyone aspires to have. He and I will share many

Antique Garden Ornament

Antique Garden Ornament Nimi Abstract Americans began to ornament their gardens in the early eighteen century, with the establishment of the great plantations of the Virginia tidewater and the estates of eastern Pennsylvania. These colonial landowners built handsome walls and gates, installed superb statuary and fountains, and arranged comfortable seating to give their grounds dignity and distraction. At the same time, New Englanders, too, began to beatify their gardens with elegant fencing, benches, and sundials. The creation of these early furnished gardens marked the beginning of a remarkable but little-known story, the history of American garden ornament. The two hundred years between 1740 and 1940 witnessed the creation of many

Humpty Dumpty from Through the Looking-Glass

My name is Humpty Dumpty a perfect name for me as it means the good and handsome shape I am. I hate to be called and egg. I think it is very provoking. I look rather like any human being I have two eyes, a nose and a mouth. Maybe my head is a bit bigger than usual but it is very beautiful. Actually I am glad to be a bit different from humans as I don't really see the different in their faces. I mean they all look alike. It would be way easier if some had, let's say, both eyes on one side of their nose. I love my life

Idiom story

Sally woke up in the morning; she looked at the clock and realized that she has been late to the work. She shook a leg - took a shower, grabbed a sandwich, hopped into her car and drove away. Then she almost ran over a stranger man. She braked the car and blew the horn. Then she realized that it was Michael, a nice handsome guy from the beach party at last weekend. If it's not one thing, it's another. She stooped out of the car window to apologize. She had to hurry but wanted to be nice and polite. She said, "Sorry, Michael I didn't noticed you, are you okay?" "Yes, but I will be better if you'll come out with me tonight, would you?" asked Michael. "Sure!" "Well, then I'll come and pick you up at 7pm!" Then Sally drove away, thinking about what she had done. She promised

The role of women in Sense and Sensibility

half-brother, John. Always feeling a keen sense of responsibility to her family and friends, she places their welfare and interests above her own, and suppresses her own strong emotions in a way that leads others to think she is indifferent or cold-hearted. Marianne Dashwood is the romantically inclined and eagerly expressive second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Dashwood. She is the object of the attentions of Colonel Brandon and Mr. Willoughby. She is attracted to young, handsome, romantically spirited Willoughby and does not think much of the older, more reserved Colonel Brandon. In nineteenth century women had to be suppressed and modest. They were not allowed to show their feelings and senses openly. When they did that, everybody gossiped and talked about that slightingly. The roles of women were keeping the house clean and raise the children. If they were in the middle or lower class they had to cook, wash and clean, but if they were in the upper

The Price of Everlasting Youth

It talks about the evil, that lies inside humans, and when it comes out, there is nothing we can do. Dorian Gray had the same problem. At the beginning of the book he was a very wealthy, intelligent man with a very high status. His beauty charmed others. Basil Hallward was inspired to draw his portrait in order to preserve his beauty and youth. With Lord Henry practically "brain-washing" Dorian, he recognised that as long as he remained as young as he was in the painting, he would be handsome. He feared the day he would age and start to form wrinkles. For that not to happen, he traded his soul for his youth. From the moment he becomes forever young, he begins to deteriorate. Even when he reaches his epiphany and sees his evil through the portrait, he simply denies seeing it and continues his malicious deeds. He started off as one of the kindest, most innocent and modest men ever. But since he traded his soul, it all changed

Robert Burns

Robert Burns Robert Burns was born in a small cottage in Alloway on 25 January 1759. By the time of his death, aged 37, on 21 July 1796, he had become Scotland's bestloved poet and, perhaps more importantly, the symbol of the regeneration of a nation. At Mount Oliphant, when he was 15, Robert wrote his first song, Handsome Nell, for his partner in the fields at harvest time, Nellie Kirkpatrick. Robert had to work as a flax dresser in Irvine to earn money for family but his real passion was poetry. At the age of 27 he had 3 children, two of them were twins. In July of 1786, Burns had succeeded in publishing the first book of his poems, the "Kilmarnock Edition", which became enormously popular. He decided to move to Edinburgh where new editions of his poetry were published. He made a number of

The Picture of Dorian Gray

Mari Tiirik, i-2 Oscar Wilde "The Picture of Dorian Gray" Basil Hallward is a taciturn and solitary artist, who finds his perfect motif in a young boy called Dorian Gray, who is the model for his oil painted masterpiece. Due to the fact that Dorian is very handsome, actually even heavenly beautiful young man, a friend of Basil, a cynical aristocrat Lord Henry Wotton (Harry) finds great intrest in Dorian. Lord Henry Wotton wants to buy the picture, and moreover, he wants to meet the boy in the picture himself. Unfortunately, Dorian is an innocent and a pure child, this is why Hallward doesn't find the idea of these two men meeting, because he is afraid that Dorian won't find his relationship with Basil intesting and exciting anymore. Basil fell in love with Dorian while painting his picture. Basil also treated him good, kept his self- esteem and spirit up by saying all the great things about him, of how good he looks and how much ...

thought ahead. He was very assured and he knew, what he was doing, he had it all figured out on his mind. He was, as a human, actually quite nice to some people, but he could not let anyone to interrupt his task, otherwise he killed them. The Jackal had to make many difficult decisions during the hunt, what were a matter of life and death and he always chose the one, which let him live. I think that in his private life he was very handsome and gentlemanlike. He tried not to link his private life and work, but in one case he did and that nearly cost his life. The Jackal's personality was doubled - first was what he was like at work and the other in his normal life, the last one is based on my opinion. He was very persevering and earnest during he was at work, but caring when not. His opponent was Claude Lebel, a very intelligent man, who was deeply specialised in tracking and detective job. He was hand-picked by the French

The Crow Tribe

The Crow, also called the Absaroka or Apsáalooke, are a Siouan-language tribe of Native Americans who historically lived in the Yellowstone River valley. They now live on a reservation south of Billings, Montana. Tribal headquarters are located at Crow Agency, Montana. The name of the tribe, Apsáalooke was translated into French by interpreters as gens du corbeaux (people of [the] crows). It means "children of the large-beaked bird," a name given by their neighboring tribe, the Hidatsa. The bird, perhaps now extinct, was defined as a fork- tailed bird resembling the blue jay or magpie. In 1743 near present-day Hardin, Montana, the Absaroka first encountered people of European descent - the two La Vérendryes brothers from French Canada. The explorers called the Apsáalooke beaux hommes (handsome men). The Crow called the French Canadians baashchíile (persons with yellow eyes). The Crow Indian Reservation in south-central Montana is a larg...

confront the homosexual feelings that had gripped him since his schooldays. Oscar's work thrived on the realisation that he was gay, but his private life flew increasingly in the face of the decidedly anti-homosexual conventions of late Victorian society. As his literary career flourished, the risk of a huge scandal grew ever larger. In 1892, on the first night of his acclaimed play "Lady Windermere's Fan", Oscar was re- introduced to a handsome young Oxford undergraduate, Lord Alfred Douglas, nicknamed "Bosie". Oscar was mesmerised by the cocky, dashing and intelligent young man and began the passionate and stormy relationship which consumed and ultimately destroyed him. While Oscar had eyes only for Bosie, he embraced the promiscuous world that excited his lover, enjoying the company of rent boys. In following the capricious and amoral Bosie, Oscar neglected his wife and children, and suffered great guilt.

endeavor, at the same time affirming that she herself will never marry. For the Christmas holidays Mr. and Mrs. John Knightley, respectively the brother of George Knightley and the sister of Emma, come from London with their five children to visit the Woodhouses. On December 24, which proves to be a bad day of snow, all of them, including George Knightley and Mr. Elton, go for a dinner with the Westons. There discussion turns to Frank Churchill, Weston's handsome, polished son by a former marriage (Frank had taken his uncle's name upon going to live with him) but a son who has never been seen in Highbury. John Knightley in particular thinks it oddly improper that Frank has not yet called on his newly remarried father, even though Frank lives some distance away in Yorkshire with the Churchills. There have been letters from him, of course, and a pleasant surprise of the dinner party is an announcement that a recent letter

What did Elizabeth think about that definition? 10. Who were pride/prejudiced in the film in your opinion and why? tyranny of post-Napoleonic Europe, to question public morality, and to assert the prerogatives of love's follies. There are subtly drawn portraits of the naive and idealistic young Fabrice del Dongo (notably at the Battle of Waterloo); of his courageous and passionate aunt, the Duchess de Sanseverina; of her lover, the benevolent Machiavellian statesman Count Mosca; and of the young and innocent Clélia Conti, the daughter of Fabrice's jailer, who falls in love with the handsome prisoner. Passion in all its forms is the novel's recurrent theme. And once again, the young hero learns the deeper lessons of spirituality, love, and freedom within the liberating confines of a prison cell. Perhaps the most remarkable aspect of The Charterhouse of Parma is its highly sophisticated psychology. Rejecting traditional notions of a fixed and determined psychological

Conway Jefferson was a frequent guest at the Majestic Hotel. He was an old man in a wheelchair because he had lost his both legs, wife, son and daughter in a plane crash. But he was still going on and he even got rich after the accident and that shows he's a very strong man with an iron will. He was Ruby Keene's new friend. He was staying at the hotel with his son's widow and daughter's widower. Raymond Starr was a male dancer, the partner of Ruby Keene in the show. He was a handsome man and a good tennis player. He was really eager to help the police and tried to answer the questions as accurately as possible. George Bartlett was also a guest at the hotel. He was a dumb man who did not remember or pretended not to remember anything about the night when Ruby was murdered. The policemen were really annoyed with him and he was definitely a suspect. Ruby Keene was a young girl who was found dead from Mr and Mrs Bantry's home library

Jean Renoir

impressionists, Renoir most thoroughly adapted the new style to the great tradition of figure painting. Although the impressionist exhibitions were the targets of much public scorn during the 1870s, Renoir's popularity gradually increased during this time. He became a friend of Caillebotte, one of the first supporters of the impressionists, and he was also backed by several art dealers and collectors. The artist's connection with these individuals is documented by a number of handsome portraits, for instance, Madame Charpentier and Her Children (1878). In the 1870s Renoir also produced some of his most celebrated impressionist scenes, including the Swing and the Moulin de la Galette (both 1876). These works show men and women together, openly and casually enjoying a society bathed in warm sunlight. Figures blend softly into one another and into their surrounding space. These paintings are pleasurable and full of human feeling.

Jane Austen

" "My dear Mr. Bennet," replied his wife, "how can you be so tiresome! You must know that I am thinking of his marrying one of them." "Is that his design in settling here?" "Design! Nonsense, how can you talk so! But it is very likely that he may fall in love with one of them, and therefore you must visit him as soon as he comes." "I see no occasion for that. You and the girls may go, or you may send them by themselves, which perhaps will be still better, for as you are as handsome as any of them, Mr. Bingley may like you the best of the party." "My dear, you flatter me. I certainly have had my share of beauty, but I do not pretend to be anything extraordinary now. When a woman has five grown-up daughters, she ought to give over thinking of her own beauty." "In such cases, a woman has not often much beauty to think of." "But, my dear, you must indeed go and see Mr. Bingley when he comes into the neighbourhood." "It is more than I engage for, I assure you."

American Art Revision Materials

American Art Revision Materials Colonial Period Portraiture. The first typically American paintings were illustrated maps but painting remained scarce during C17. There were 4 reasons: settlers came from backgrounds where art was unusual, Protestant attitudes was averse to imagery and painting, the English were not yet distinguished in visual arts and religious art was non-existent. The colonial period is almost entirely limited to portraiture (deemed as `useful' by settlers). These first paintings were made by limners and artisans without formal training and were based on what was popular in England during the Tudors. The paintings are technically unskilled, strongly patterned, flat and linear. Spanish painting in America was mostly religious. In C18, painting was a luxury and necessitated wealth that had by then become available. Portraitures remained at the forefront because the rich could thusly display their status and becaus...
