HENRY MOORE Henry Moore was born on the 30th of July in 1898. He was an English sculptor and artist. He was best known for his abstract bronze sculptures which are located around the world. He was also the most celebrated sculptor of his time, and the second part of his career, in particular, demonstrated that Modernist sculpture was surprisingly adaptable to official needs. In this sense, Moore was the contemporary equivalent of the great Neo Classical sculptors such as Canova and Thorwaldsen. Moore was born in Castleford as the son of a mining engineer. Cleopatra's needle

Embanknet near the Golden Jubilee Bridges. It is close to the Embankment underground station. It is also called the obelisk. Originally built as a pair for the Temple of the Sun at Heliopolis It was dug out of the sand in which it had been buried for nearly 2,000 years and was encased in a great iron cylinder, 92 feet (28 m) long and 16 feet (4.9 m) in diameter, designed by the engineer John Dixon. Cleopatra's Needle is flanked by two Egyptian sphinxes cast from bronze that bear hieroglyphic inscriptions that say netjer nefer menkheperre di ankh (the good god, Thuthmosis III given life). These Sphinxes appear to be looking at the Needle rather than guarding it. This is due to the Sphinxes' improper or backwards installation. The setting is neatly completed by two large bronze Sphinxes which lie on either side of the Needle. These are a very Victorian version of the traditional Egyptian original, but still look impressive.

The Colossus of Rhodes

The Colossus of Rhodes

The Rhodians decided to express their pride by building a triumphal statue of their favourite god, Helios. The task was assigned to the sculptor Chares of Lindos, a pupil of Lysippos himself, and twelve years (from 304 to 292 BC) were needed to complete it. The Colossus of Rhodes was not only a gigantic statue. It was a symbol of unity of the people who inhabited that beautiful Mediterranean island of Rhodes. To build the statue, the workers cast the outer bronze skin parts. The base was made of white marble, and the feet and ankle of the statue were first fixed. The structure was gradually erected as the bronze form was fortified with an iron and stone framework. To reach the higher parts, an earth ramp was built around the statue and was later removed. When the Colossus was finished, it stood about 33 metres (110 ft) high. A strong earthquake hit Rhodes at around 226 BC. The city was badly damaged, and the

He improved rapidly and by the age of 15 he qualifyed for the 2000 Summer Olympics. Phelps finished fifth in the 200 metre butterfly. Five months later he broke the world record in the same event and also became the youngest man ever to set a swimming world record. He has broken four Olympic records, two American records, one championship record and 14 world records, some even twice. He has 14 Olympic gold medals, two Olympic bronze medals and seven World Championship gold medals. In my opinion, Michael Phelps is a young man with great achievements and he definitely is a role model for many aspiring swimmers.

The history of Scotland begins around 10,000 years ago, when humans first began to inhabit what is now Scotland after the end of the Devensian glaciation, the last ice age. Of the Stone Age, Bronze Age, and Iron Age civilization that existed in the territory, many artifacts remain, but few written records were left behind. The recorded history of Scotland begins with the arrival of the Roman Empire in Britain, when the Romans occupied what is now broadly England, Wales and the Scottish Lowlands, administering it as a Roman province called Britannia. The statue of Zeus at Olympia

The next expedition, that came form Germany in 1875, worked at Olympia for five summers. Over that period they were able to map out most of the buildings there. They discovered more fragments of the temple’s sculpture, and located the remains of the pool in the floor that contained the oil fot the statue. In the 1950’s an excavation uncovered the workshop of Phidias which covered beneath an early Christian Church.Archaeologists found sculptor’s tools, a pit fot casting bronze, clay moulds, modelling plaster and even a portion of the elephants tusks which had supplied the ivory for the statue. Today, the stadium at the site has been restored. Little is left of the temple though, except a few columns.Of the statue, which was perhaps the most wonderful work at Olympia, all is gone by now. England - Art and Culture

This is especially true of epicentres such as London and Manchester. There are even specific projects that are designed to engender such creativity amongst the local population. Examples of this type of initiative are the Tate Liverpool and the Tate Modern in London. But museums and galleries are not the only homes of art. Sculptures and art festivals also testify to the creative genius of England. Sculptures range from ancient figures of historical import to life- size bronze carvings of human beings (such as exist on the roof of De la Warr Pavilion in Bexhill or the Another Place exhibition on Crosby Beach, Liverpool). One of the largest art festivals is held in Birmingham and is called Artsfest. The artistic talents being showcased range from classical music and song to traditional dancing and stand-up comedy. This festival is usually held in September. Theatre is another very important part of the English culture and is, in fact,

POLITSEIVÄGIVALD JA SELLE PIIRAMINE

As I said in this work, police officer turns to especially agressive and uncontrollable when he/she is in a critical situation. Solution for police violence is regular psyhic tests for officers. The other option is private conversations between officer and psychologist. I really support fact that police violence can't be keep silent. If there's a problem, the problem must be solved, not being hided. Police Violence termin was raised up in Estonia , April 2007 in "Bronze Night". The Russian rebels told that, they were treated awful by the Police of Estonia. They told that, their human rights were restricted. I think that in "Bronze Night'' police was operated very well. They were doing all what they can and all the police activity based on laws. I was proud of Estonian Police forces in April 2007. Police violence can be prevented by roughening the laws. Police officer must know that he has responsibility and he must make right and fair decisions.

Esquiline and Palatine Hills, through which a canalised stream ran. By the 2nd century BC the area was densely inhabited. It was devastated by the Great Fire of Rome in AD 64, following which Nero seized much of the area to add to his personal domain. He built the grandiose Domus Aurea on the site, in front of which he created an artificial lake surrounded by pavilions, gardens and porticoes. The existing Aqua Claudia aqueduct was extended to supply water to the area and the gigantic bronze Colossus of Nero was set up nearby at the entrance to the Domus Aurea.Although the Colossus was preserved, much of the Domus Aurea was torn down. The lake was filled in and the land reused as the location for the new Flavian Amphitheatre. Gladiatorial schools and other support buildings were constructed nearby within the former grounds of the Domus Aurea. According to a reconstructed inscription found on the site, "the emperor Vespasian ordered this new amphitheatre to be erected from

..-1066): Britain was part of the European land mass until the end of the last Ice Age. It became an island by about 6000 BC. From about 3000 to 2000 BC the British Isles were inhabited by a group of people called the Iberians. These Stone Age people lived in limestone caves, they used stone axes and fashioned antlers and bones into leather-working tools. Later groups of people from what are now Germany, the Netherlands and Brittany also settled in Briton. During the Bronze Age, they mined tin, gold and copper and made bronze tools. They also probably built the spectacular prehistoric megaliths, such as Stonehenge on Salisbury Plain. The Celts invaded the British Isles in the 5th century BC in two waves. The Britons grew wheat and corn, caught fish, and tamed and bred animals. They made coarse cloth for their clothes, learned the art of pottery, made things of wool, metal and copper, and were good warriors. They
