School system in the USA

Graduate school Students who have obtained a bachelor's degree can continue their education by pursuing one of two types of degrees. The first is a master's degree. This is usually a two-year degree that is highly specialized in a specific field. Students who want to advance their education even further in a specific field can pursue a doctorate degree, also called a PhD. A PhD degree can take between three and six years to complete, depending on the course of study chosen, the ability of the student, and the thesis that the student has selected. The thesis is a very intensive research paper that must be completed prior to earning the degree. It is always required that students pursue a PhD, or sometimes be required of students pursuing a master's degree (depending on the school). Certain courses of study are only available at the graduate school level in America. The most notable of these are law and medicine. Students who want to pursue a degree in one of these

After primary school in Estonia you have two ways to walk: high school or industrial school, where they get profession. Youngsters in United States of America and Great Britain have easier to make choice choosing a profession, because there they start to prepare people to get a job very early. High schools in Estonia teaches every subject almost equally, so everyone have to study everything, except for some schools that are oriented to teach few subjects in depth (IT classes, art classes etc). It´s much easier to make future career plans and to find suitable profesion if school teaches how to manage in real life with practical activities like different projects, presentations and so on. I think USA and Great Britain schools are very developed in teaching pupils how to think and find answers on their own because their school system supports learning through projects, teamwork, presentations. Estonian school system is obsolescent in my opinion

An American college is an institution of higher learning which lasts over a four year period and which grants/gives Bachelor's degree at the conclusion of studies. The students may gain a Master's degree within a year or two of further study. After another year or two of study and research they may gain a still higher degree of study and research as Doctor of Philosophy. Students of the establishment of higher education are freshmen, sophomores, juniors and seniors. A freshman is a first-year student, a sophomore a second- year student, a junior a third-year student and a senior a fourth-year student. Higher education in Estonia is basically the same. We have collages and universities, where students are provided with closer education. After students have achieve to graduate, they also get diploma or some sort of degree, depends of school and which degree they were studying for. So in those aspects, where I brought examples, were not so much differences at all

8. I have had an account at that bank for years. IV Exercise In Britain, some children start their education by going to a kindergarten or nursery school when they are 2 or 3 years old. They must go to school from the age of 5, when they usually enter the state school system by attending primary school until they are 11 years old. Then they go on to a secondary school, which they can leave when they reach 16. Before leaving, students sit their GCSE examinations in 8 or 9 subjects. If they want to go on to study at university, they stay at school for 2 more years and then do A-level examinations in 3 or 4 subjects. Some parents decide to pay for their children's education and send them to a private school. At university a student studies for his degree for 3 or 4 years and, if successful, he will graduate with either a Bachelor of Arts or a Bachelor of Science degree. Finally, a student can choose to do a post-graduate course and study for a Masters degree or a Ph. D.

comprehensive schools were introduced. Most local education authorities were have now completely changed over to comprehensive schooling. At the age of 16 pupils take school-leaving examinations in several subjects at the Ordinary level. The exam used to be conducted by eight independent examining boards, most of them connected with the university. This examination could also be taken by candidates at a further education establishment. This exam was called the General Certificate of Education (GCE). Pupils of comprehensive school had taken the examination called the Certificate of Secondary Education either with or instead of the GCE.

Changing career: 'These days, I go home feeling relaxed' Starting a new career is a daunting prospect for many. But Kate Hilpern discovers that plenty of help is at hand Some of the jobs that career changers are most keen to break into PR and teaching, among them are the very same jobs that people are queuing to get out of, says John Lees, author of How to Get a Job You'll Love and Take Control of Your Career. Many of us get to the point, whether in our twenties, thirties, forties or fifties where we decide to change careers. Some of us will make radical changes, while others will move to the edge of their comfort zone, perhaps shifting from acupuncturist to homeopath or PR office to journalist. But the key to making the right decision, says Lees, is to bring your dream back down to life with a hard thump. "I always say to people, 'Find out what you will actually be doing in the job of your dreams. What does the nitty-gritty day-to- day work involve?'" Conversely, he says, pe

These league tables, together with the provision to parents of some degree of choice in assignment of the school for their child (also legislated in the same act) were intended to encourage a 'free market' by allowing parents to choose schools based on their measured ability to teach the National Curriculum. Whilst only certain subjects were included at first, in subsequent years the curriculum grew to fill the entire teaching time of most state schools. The requirement for state schools to teach Religious Education predates the National Curriculum as this was introduced in the Education Act (1944).
