Why do people have pets?

feel a lot more confident with animals. Historians don't know for sure when humans started keeping pets. Dogs were one of the first animals domesticated by humans and have been domesticated for some 10,000 years. According to ancient Egyptian law, taking the life of a greyhound warranted the same punishment as killing a man. As early as 3500 B.C., Egyptians were domesticating wildcats from Africa. They considered cats to be godesses pets. That ranked them above humans, making them the first to be saved if a house caught fire, before the people. As I see it, having a pet at home is a good thing to do. Nevertheless, often having a pet means having a lot of tasks because you have to take care of them very well. Thus, you will wake up in the early morning to take them out for a walk, or to calm them down when they are afraid of something. However, if you love them, there will be no problems.

December 1999. It was opend to the public on 9. March 2000 after it's formal opening because of technical problems. On 5 June 2008 it was announced that 30 million people had ridden the London Eye since its opening. Critical reception Sir Richard Rogers, winner of the 2007 Pritzker Architecture Prize, wrote of the London Eye in a book about the project: "The Eye has done for London what the Eiffel Tower did for Paris, which is to give it a symbol and to let people climb above the city and look back down on it." "The Eye... exists in a category of its own. It's function is to lift people up from the ground, take them round a giant loop in the sky, then put them back down where they started." Public transport access The nearest London Underground station is Waterloo, although Westminster is also within easy walking distance. London River Services operated by Thames Clipper and City Cruises stop at the nearby Waterloo Millennium Pier.

Are student organizations beneficial for students?

It is said that students have already too many responsibilities and adding the organizations in daily life becomes too much to take. On the one hand, being involved in an organization takes up some precious time, but on the other hand it teaches students how to manage their time. Another aspect is that when student is really into that organization it might distract them from schoolwork. It becomes more interesting and enjoyable than school. It is clear from the above that student organizations are beneficial for students. It is not compulsory for students so it is they own responsibility to fit organizations in their schedule.

It manifests a lot of emotions during the jump and gives a very relaxing feeling once you get back on the ground. I will start by describing what I felt when I was at the Koigi airfield ready for getting on the plane. As I was making my way to the plane, I was going over seven steps in my mind: count to seven, grab the controls, check the dome, check the wind direction, make sure anybody isn’t close, locate the landing area and prepare for landing 600 meters above ground. It all sounded very easy in my mind, but how would I know it if I had never done it before? We were getting on the plane and I was getting more and more nervous, when our instructor told us that if we did not jump he would kick us out with his leg and that made me even more nervous. After we got to the jumping altitude our instructor opened the door and told me: “You are first”. As I was making my way to the door I tried to calm myself down but thinking about jumping

About Peter I House Museum

The small cottage was enlarged with a wing and the outcome was a building with a hall, a kitchen and four rooms. The small summer residence was in use until the emperor's death. The succeeding rulers used the Palace of Kadriorg that had been completed only after Peter's death and the small building was neglected. The building was restored at the order of Emperor Alexander I after he visited Tallinn in 1804. The wing, however, was not. The kitchen was reconstructed and a dining room was built above it on the first floor that had not existed before. Since then the building has been maintained all the time and today it is the only example of a 17th-century summer-cottage in Estonian architecture and a valuable relic. The building became a popular sight among the people of Tallinn in the last quarter of the 19th century when the watchman of the house used to entertain the visitors with "true-life stories". The Tallinn City Museum got the building in 1941. Peter I House was hardly changed

“What does success come from?”

Of course, in business, sometimes we can not predict what will happen and that there is some thing out of plan is inevitable. But with well planning that mentions all the possible situations, we can quickly back on our feet, or even turn mistakes into advantages as well. However, the issue is still debated, maybe other people have their own reasons to chose taking risks or chances but in my opinion, with such clear and stable reasons above, I ensure that careful planning results in success.

London - the capital of Great Britain

The building of the Buckingham palace started in 1703. It was built for the Duke of Buckingham. The house was later bought by King George III for himself and Queen Charlotte. In 1820, King George IV commissioned John Nash to build a State Palace, much of the structure and decoration of which is seen today. Queen Victoria was the first monarch to live in the Palace, from 1837, and it has been the London home of the Royal Family ever since. The Royal Standard flies above the Palace when The Queen is in residence. London is a big cultural centre. There are many theatres, cinemas, concert halls, picture galleries and museums there. The London Eye is one of the best tourist attractions in London. It is a 135 metres high observation wheel and it's at the moment the largest observation wheel in the world. It rotates at the rate of 1.6 kilometres per hour. It's built of 1700 tons of steel. That's the weight of 250 double- deckers

Turbo ja kompressor(inglise keeles)

One of the main problems with turbochargers is that they do not provide an immediate power boost when you step on the gas. It takes a second for the turbine to get up to speed before boost is produced. This results in a feeling of lag when you step on the gas, and then the car lunges ahead when the turbo gets moving. SUPERCHARGER Adding a supercharger is a great way to achieve forced air induction.A supercharger is any device that pressurizes the air intake to above atmospheric pressure. Superchargers are powered mechanically by belt- or chain-drive from the engine's crankshaft. Getting more fuel into the charge would make for a more powerful explosion. But you can't simply pump more fuel into the engine because an exact amount of oxygen is required to burn a given amount of fuel. This chemically correct mixture -- 14 parts air to one part fuel -- is essential for an engine to operate efficiently

Monopoly

becomes a "price maker." The extent to which a firm is a price maker (i.e. has market power) is partially determined by the price elasticity of demand in the relevant price range. Note that when the seller selects a price (price maker) the demand function determines the quantity that will be purchased. · The conditions of entry or barriers to entry (BTE) are also important determinants of market power. If there are significant BTE, a firm or firms may be able to sustain above normal profits over time because other firms are prevented from entry to capture the above normal profits. Monopoly is the market structure that is usually associated with the greatest market power. · The monopolist produces a good with no close substitutes(increased probability the demand is relatively inelastic) and there are barriers to entry. Imagination is More Important That Knowledge

Imagination is more important than knowledge as Albert Einstein said, "Imagination is everything. Imagination is within us, and on the other hand knowledge is learnt through schooling and experience..." Imagination is also what infuses faith. God Himself used imagination in the creation of everything even the humans. This as a matter of fact was the beginning of imagination before knowledge was embraced by man. Our imagination allows us to escalade above all limits. Numerous things all come up due to imagination. Perfect examples of such things is art, music etc neither art music nor requires any knowledge. What you have to do is involve your mind in deep imagination and you will come up with something brilliant. In our language essays we use imagination to come up with brilliant and interesting stories. Knowledge here plays a small or rather no role here, because if you had knowledge and no imagination then all would be in vain

Do you consider yourself more functionalist or more conflict theorist?

theorists who critize each other. In my opinion, none of the theories are completely wrong but I do tend to agree with people on the conflict theory side. Firstly, functionalism ignores inequality and focuses too much on the positive functions in society. For example racism, functionalists will say that it must be imporant in order to exist as long as it has but in my opinion that sounds quite doubtful. The most problematic part about racism is above all the tension and conflict which comes with it. Seems to me, that functionalists ignore the negative sides which society has on people. Secondly, I agree that society will always be in conflict because of fighting for limited resources and their rights. I think it is in our human nature to get the best for oneself and therefore in many areas, competition is inevitable. Functionalists act like all parts in society are equal and there is little

How to become successful?

blocking the path to success, one should keep plugging away towards the goal or give the situation some time to settle and try to tackle them after some time. Although, I think that there can be no such thing as a "script of how to be successful". Success is measured by everyone on their own and everyone sees success differently. If one doesn't strive towards being wealthy, but wants abundant free-time to think of oneself as successful instead, then my recommedations brought out above would be useful for them. All in all, I think figuring out the definition of successful and setting the most crucial principles are the main guidelines for one's case. So as I wish to have a decent job in the sience field, I think of those two things as of the things I have to follow.

Many newspapers and magazines feature stories about the private lives of famous people

and nowaday people are fond of famous people life details, despite embarrassing or untrue things. Besides, magazines help famous people support their popularity and in some way develope their careers, giving other people free information about their private lifes. Gossips increase people`s interest and products, which are produced or broadcasted with famous people will be more common ,than others things. In conclusion, based on the arguments listed above is clear that more appropriative role for featuring private life of famous people is for magazines, than for newspapers, which should focus on serious situations. Magazines are more linked to social things and may not only inform people, but also help famous people increase their popularity. Valeria Prostjakova

Estonians and their habits

Estonians and their habits There are hundreds of different countries and nationalities in the world and each one is peculiar in its own way. For example, Italians are very impulsive. French people don't like the British. Germans are pedantic. Russians are generous, but lazy. What about Estonians? In Estonia when a stranger on a street smiles at you, you can assume that: he is either drunk, insane, from another country or all of the above. Estonians don't smile too often. Estonians are not very talkative either. In Estonian schools teachers have stopped asking their students "Are there any questions?" It is especially hard to keep a conversation flowing with an Estonian when you don't know each other very well. I tried to make a conversation with an Estonian classmate of mine once (whom I didn't know very well) and it sounded like that: Me: So... what did you do during your holidays

Temperament The Australian Terrier is spirited, alert, courageous, and self-confident, with the natural aggressiveness of a ratter and hedge hunter; as a companion, friendly and affectionate.[1] Aussies are very intelligent. They rank 34th in Stanley Coren's The Intelligence of Dogs, being of above average working/obedience intelligence. They are happiest when with their families, and therefore they should not be left outside for long periods of time. They are natural watchdogs and will sound the alarm if a strange animal or person approaches. As with other terriers, they can be dog-aggressive and somewhat bossy, and care must be taken when living in a multi-pet household. young peole who plant trees on their land, won’t probably be building houses with them, instead their children or grandchildren will. We dream of Estonia, where even the children of our kids know what the word Forest means and can walk there any time, pick berries or go skiing in the winter. Since we didn’t want to waste what we were drawing attention to, we used Jõgeva’s wood industry Valmeco AS’s production residues. For paintings, we used acrylics. The sculpture is being kept above the water by a ferry made out of empty plastic bottles. The authors of the sculpture are Jessica Järvelt, Rezete Karu and Marilin Kuusk from Jõgeva County Gymnasium (või Jõgevamaa Gümnaasium). The technical consultant and helper with wood processing was Varmo Ojamets. Instructor: Anne Jaama

The Houses of Parliament

United Kingdom - the House of Lords and the House of Commons. The Houses of Parliament is composed of 1100 rooms, 100 staircases and three miles of corridors. Parliament takes breaks during Christmas, Easter and over the summer. The Palace of Westminster features three main towers The Central Tower, The Victoria Tower and The Clock Tower, also known as Big Ben. The Central Tower stands over the middle of the building, immediately above the Central Lobby. This tower is proof that after the fire in 1834, the palace can still look good. The Victoria Tower is the most striking property of Charles Barry's design for the New Palace of Westminster. At the time when tower was in built, it was the highest secular building in the world. Nowadays the Big Ben is more famous than The Palace of Westminister. When a light at the top of the tower is on, then you can know that Parliament is sitting at night.

New Zealand - lühireferaat

There are 18 peaks over 3000 meters in the South Island. The highest North Island mountain is Mount Ruapehu and it is an active cone volcano. The climate throughout the country is mild and temperate, mainly maritime, with temperatures rarely falling below 0 'C or rising above 30 'C in populated areas. its isolation from continental (influences and exposure to cold southerly winds and ocean currents) give(s) the climate a much milder character. In winter the South Island mountains and central North Island have heavy snowfalls. New Zealand has about 4,3 million people. The population is unevenly distributed. "The whole manager" referaat

You need to understand how others see you. As a start, you might ask during assessment or appraisal meetings to have the papers put aside for a moment and get an honest, off-the-record assessment of how you are perceived generally. Managing your time It is critical, therefore, that you devise a strategy for dealing with time. The first step is to commit to a specific plan for how you allot your time. This can cover a host of areas short term or long term, personal or business. Although the above may seem obvious, it is still worth starting without a conscious plan people tend to be reactive. Above all, being in a control of your time will lead to increased self-confidence and peace of mind and, best of all, with a bit of self-discipline and thought it can be achieved by anyone. How you use your diary is clearly a key element in effective time management. If properly used, your diary can keep you organised and focused on the key events well in advance.

Two systems have been developed, namely single and double lines. The single system is simple to operate and consists of one line with weights and buoys at either end, and weights at intervals along the main line which keep it on the seabed. The double or Spanish system is the same but it has a second, safety line. It is used in areas where strong currents and rough floors otherwise cause high gear loss. The safety line is unweighted and floats above the main line, attached at several points. This allows the main line to be retrieved even if it breaks. Figure. made), social and physical (natural) features. Natural features include soil, the atmosphere, vegetation and wildlife. Human features include things such as culture, language and political systems. Geographers are concerned about human action in the environment. Human interference with the environment causes problems such as soil erosion, global warming and acid. You may ask how we as individuals can have an impact on the environment. Our actions can help to increase the problems highlighted above. For example turning off lights that are not being used helps to reduce global warming. Until recently, concern about the environment revolved almost exclusively around local and national problems. Over the past two decades, however, scientists have increasingly focused attention on more far-reaching environmental threats, such as global warming, ozone depletion, and deforestation that transcend national boundaries. A new concept global environmental problems has entered the public
