Dark, but light inside

The Christmas is celebrated mainly for two reasons: because of the J. Christ's birthday and the darkest time of the year. People usually celebrate Christmas at home but there are also some street parades and parties at work or school. They decorate their homes with lots of shiny, colourful and bright lights. They also get the Christmas tree, clean up their house and make or shop for presents to gift someone. During the Christmas people visit their relatives and there's a Christmas Peace all over the world that means that you have to do good things and be nice to everyone. On the Christmas Eve morning some people go to the church. On the Christmas Night they usually have dinner of pork, potatoes, some boiled cabbage and sausages. After that they go to the living room to wait for Santa Claus, chat with each other or play games. Christmas is a great event to celebrate with your friends or relatives who you haven't seen for

Reasons why human beings are unique

Thinkstock) No animal can get close to the devastation humans can cause (Credit: Thinkstock) Ever since we learned to write, we have documented how special we are. The philosopher Aristotle marked out our differences over 2,000 years ago. We are "rational animals" pursuing knowledge for its own sake. We live by art and reasoning, he wrote. Much of what he said stills stands. Yes, we see the roots of many behaviours once considered uniquely human in our closest relatives, chimpanzees and bonobos. But we are the only ones who peer into their world and write books about it. We see the roots of many behaviours once considered uniquely human in our closest relatives "Obviously we have similarities. We have similarities with everything else in nature; it would be astonishing if we didn't. But we've got to look at the differences," says Ian Tattersall, a paleoanthropologist at the American Museum of Natural History in New York, US.

The other easy way to communicate is using internet, which was developed in 1968. Hundreds of millions of people are using internet all over the world. Using internet is very easy and most people learn to use it very quickly. It is much cheaper and faster way to chat with your friends or relatives than sending letters, because you do not have to buy stamps or envelopes. In the internet there are many programs where you can talk to people you know, most common programs used in EU are messenger and Skype. You can also send e-cards and e-mails at no cost. Many people still send letters, so it is not dying art; it is very common way wishing merry Christmas or happy birthday. Also sending postcards and letters are not very expensive. It all starts with the engagement, which is held in the presence of family and friends. The bride and the groom will exchange rings. After that there is usually a feast to celebrate the engagement. Wedding day is usually Sunday, because it is supposed to bring good luck to the young couple. All the week before the weddings is also important. During the whole week quests visit bride and groom and leave them gifts on their marriage bed. On Wednesday it is customed that relatives come to bride' s and groom' s new house and watch the flour being sieved by a boy and a girl. Through that process there is silence. When there is enough flour people throw coins into it and yell their wishes of good luck. On Friday there is a ritual called " filling of the sacks" . Young people often move away from their homeland, because they think that they might get a better education, if they study in a well-known university. Finally, you can find a lot of new friends. However, for every plus there is a minus. The main disadvantage is that you might start feeling homesick, because you have left all your relatives and friends behind. Culture shock can also be a problem. It might not be so easy to get used to local traditionds and customs. Moreover, the language barrier might be a huge problem. In conclusion, I think that the advantages outweigh the disadvantages. Although it depends very much on the person, who emigrates, it seems to me that in general emigration is a good thing.

Not only soldiers civilian population gets tired of being in a danger and worrying about relatives and friends. Secondly, the consequences of a war are horrible. Terrible memories would not leave people. Every time they recall those events, they suffer again because no one is able to make somebody happy fighting. Thirdly, a lot of people die. do some people start with such harmful nutritional habits? Firstly, one reason for this could be media. Advertisers heavily market weight-reduction programs and present anorexic young models as the paradigm of sexual desirability. Also, clothes are designed and displayed for thin bodies in spite of the fact that few women could wear them successfully. Another thing to mention is genetic factors. According to studies, anorexia is eight times more common in people who have relatives with the disorder. This disease will become apparent after some kind of psychological shock. Finally, even their families can give negative influence. Although, almost every parent knows how important right nutrition is, there are also some people who behave differently. Sometimes some ignorant parents even urge their children to lose weight. In conclusion, there is no single cause for eating disorders. The actual cause of these disorders appears to result from many factors.

Schools kill creativity

He was discussing about creativity and how we help ourselves and others to develope it. Mostly I agreed with him but still there were some points, where I could argue with him. Ken Robinson says noone knows how’ll the future be like. The future where our kid’s are going to have to live in. Still our education system wants us to prepare them for that. Prepare them for the mystery, for something we have no idea about how it’s going to be. If I had no younger relatives, I’d have to dissagree with him - I mean, when I was in secondary school I had to study mostly only those subjects I’d really need in the future. But I have some relatives younger than I am. The youngest is 9 right now. And when I look at what she must study, well, I studied it in 4th or 5th grade and I didn’t have to study that much with that heavy pressure. He also talks about talent and how we call it. We see a kid with a tremendous ability

we tend to forget that. Every generation has something to teach the others, all of them have different experiences, conceptions and ways they like to solve problems. For example the ways people acted fifty years ago may not fit into today's world, but then there are the grandchildren's generation that can show and teach elderly how it is acceptable to do something. And then there are older generations that can remind youngers why it is important to appreciate family relations, remember your relatives and what are real values in life, because in this fast-changing world it is sometimes quite hard to distinguish important from unimportant. Last year was the year of active ageing and solidarity between generations. I think it was very nice initiative. It reminded so many important things to people. We should not forget how many wonderful and differently experienced people live around us and what we have to learn from them.

Being positive

Being positive is very important for me. I always try to be positive, but it's sometimes very hard and doesn't go right at all times. Because of that I'll talk about a few reasons, why everyone should be positive. First and I think the main thing about being positive is that then I'll get along easier with my relatives, when I'm always beaming positive energy and I'm not negative. For example, when my friends are in a bad mood and I'm positive and cheerful, they will be happier too and then they maybe want to communicate with me better. The other reason is that I will cope more easily with my everyday problems because it brings optimism into my life and makes easier to avoid worry and negative thinking. Then I feel myself better and I will solve my problems too.

Also you can think whenever you are alone there is somebody who will think of you- your dear family. Friends often put upon your charitableness so you can't always trust them. There is only certain kind of friends who are trustable and you understand it yourself who is and who's not. Friends are who you can trust and share some things you can't never tell to your family. The two most related qualities are self-esteem and loneliness. I think Facebook is not a real problem for problem , its just for fun or to make new friends or to keep in touch with your friends/relatives who live far away from you. I agree that in some cases people get addicted to facebook , I was once too. I used to stay all day in facebook . but now I don’t , I hardly ever use it . when I didn’t have with who to talk , I felt lonely . I only stayed in my room waiting for someone to text me .Now I just to enjoy life with my friends near me , not imaginary friends, who sometimes can be lying for different things . so using social networks is sometimes dangerous

I think that there are not the right age for having children. It is so individual how people get ready to having them. Some of them are mature already in beginning of 20´s, therefore some people are not mentally adult even on their 30´s. Or like one of my relatives says that the best combination is young healthy woman and an older wealthy man. Also, the term young is very relative. Concidering the age of woman giving birth for the first time is about 25. It has been increased very much comparing with the ten years back time and the medium age for woman giving birth is 35. The society thinks that it is quite late and so am I. In my point of view people should have children when their health is on the best condition.

Summer holidays are too long

Summer holidays are too long Summer holidays are important. Children need enough time to rest from school hard work. They have to have time to do all the things they like. Children aren't the only ones who need all this, teachers need it too. Children need long holidays. In summer they can go on vacation with their families and visit all the interesting places. Some kids like water parks and amusement parks, some are interested in museums. They can also visit relatives. Every child wants to play and spend time with friends outside of school, also develop their hobbies. If summer holidays were shorter, they wouldn't have time to do all this. School is hard work. Learning new things all day, and after school there is homework to do. There is quite little time left for children to keen on their hobbies. Men do all the same things all day and some women stay home and drink coffee, while their kids are in school. Children, unlike adults, don't get paid.

Try to make contacts as little as possible through the internet! Thank you!

Etiquette in America

· Use first names, and be sure to introduce everyone to each other. · Most people will insist that you call them by their nickname, if they have one. · It is quite common for the recipient to put your card in their wallet, which may then go in the back pocket of their trousers. This is not an insult. · Handshake as a first meeting. · Hugging is reserved for close family members and friends. · Kissing people in greeting is in the context of relatives, lovers, and friends. 7.THE FAMILY · The family unit is generally considered the close family, and is typically small. Extended family relatives live in their own homes, often at great distances from their children. · Individualism is prized, and this is reflected in the family unit. People are proud of their individual accomplishments, initiative and success, and may, or may not, share those sources of pride with their elders. 8.THE PEOPLE ·

Capital punishments should not be abolished

Capital punishments should not be abolished

No. It's my opinion that they should be treated same as way as they treated someone else and in many cases it means capital punishment. Also it's said that if we abolish capital punishment, we will save lives. Most of the criminals, who are in prison for long time, have murdered someone or even many of people, if the are serial killers. They have tooken innocent lives and we should just let them live and enjoy life even though they have caused a lot of pain in murdered people relatives' soul? If some of the criminals get out from the jail, they will never be the same. They can be changed for the better, but most of them want revenge and start commiting crimes again, which very often includes new murderes. This is far from saving lives, isn't it? It is one of my principles that you are gonna be treated same way as you treat others and because of that capital punishment should not be abolished.

How to keep Estonians in Estonia - kirjand

Whatever it is that they change it only drives Estonians away. I think that if everyone could get higher education for free they wouldn't have to get a student loan which they are not able to pay back after graduating. They have to get a well-paid job. But here in Estonia you can't get a great job unless you have a relative who's a top executive. Because of this many people go to a foreign country for a short time. At least that's what they say. Most of my friends and relatives who have gone abroad years ago are sure they are never coming back to live in Estonia. I'm not sure if it would help to keep Estonians in Estonia if kids would have a normal childhood but it really makes me angry that they have to be able to read at the age of 5. I think it wouldn't hurt to be able to read before school if the kid is interested in it. But to put pressure on them at such a young age is wrong. School is a place where kids are forced to do things they don't like but it

A letter to a friend describing a house for rent

Dear Michelle, Thank you for your letter, it was very nice to hear some good news from you. We're very glad that you are happy with the choice you made, by starting a new life abroad, with having many interesting chances there. You also wrote that you miss all of your friends and relatives, who you had to say goodbye to... Thinking of that, I have a marvellous suggestion for you! I know you've always wanted to have a nice summer cottage and why not to have it, here, in Estonia? I've found a lovely summerhouse for you! I also remember how much you adored these cute little hills we have in Estonia, so this lovely cottage is also on the foot of one and it's surrounded by a beautiful nature, you like to take photos of, too. It's located in the South-Estonia, near the Võru.

The Importance of English History

The Importance of English History

As for more, soon invaders began to change the native population. The Celts, the Romans, the Vikings, then the Normandians all wanted to live somewhere, gain power and finally, settle down. Since they were not the first ones to live in England, it was a little bit easier for them to adopt the new land, yet none of their rule lasted long enough to defeat British nature from toe to top. Even now some parts of England have inhabitants whose distant relatives and great-great-great...parents origin from the first ones to ever settle down on the island. To conclude, it could be said that the most interesting part of the history is watching the development of a nation and its life with the native nature. Both change through time, yet neither disappear nor surrender completely to another. The importance of English History lies in everything and everyone connected with it. England really is an island to learn something interesting about.

miles away and broaden the mind. Moreover we have a chance to find interesting and educating information from computer, but with what price? All these robots and facilities prevent us from thinking ourselves. We create traps, from which is difficult to get out. For example the using of the calculator generates in us the fixation. We can excellently calculate but we still use a calculator and so we are forgetting all these elementary things. Have any of you recently written to your relatives by hand? If so, I believe a few of you. We are merely in the beginning of the 21 st century, but technical development has got a hard push whereas ours is slowing down. So what happens in the end of the century? Only recently I discussed with my friends that it would be nice if we had a teleport, which allow us to go home without riding on a bus or going on foot. Maybe it isn't just a dream and some day we would have it, but what about our health? Even now so many people are

Learning foreign language-- Why is it necessary-

Learning foreign language - Why is it necessary?

Some things like watching films and listening music make us understand this language better. In the future I would like to learn french and Swedish but first I should learn to speak Russian and English correctly. If we travel, we anyway communicate with different people and it's easier to make contact than we can speak language very well. And communicating with different people make our world-view larger. If your partner, relatives or friends speak a different language, learning that language will help you to communicate with them. It will also give you a better understanding of their culture and way of thinking. I When you move to a different country or region, learning the local language will help you to communicate and integrate with the local community. Even if many of the locals speak your language, for example if your first language is Estonian and you move to the France, it's still worth your while

My eyes were still closed and I couldn't open them before I got a cup of hot coffee. At 8 o'clock we started driving to Riga.We also had GPS in our car, so it wasn't so boring, because it had some voice commands on and it was interesting to watch the route we were driving on. The weather was cloudy. In Pärnu one of turbosensors broke down.So we had a little lack of enginepower and it was pretty hard to past some cars with nonturbo diesel. At 1pm we arrived to Riga and drove to our relatives, who were living there.Everyone was happy to see me, my father and my granny once again in a long time. After 6 hours of communicating with all our relatives there, we started driving back home.It took 3,5 sleepy hours before I was at home.26.October was a very exhausting day. Sauna on 6 December After 7 hours of boring school, me and my classmate decided to make a sauna evening that day

Review "THE CATCHER IN THE RYE"

modern classic of today. Every teeneager has had once felt himself sort of depressed and upset. It is absolutely normal state for identity formation. We mature, we become adults, we revise our values and are feeling really unusual sometimes. Lots of times I have caught myself thinking that I'd already felt something like this before... Lots of moments in this book were really similar to some periods of my life and many relatives seemed very similar to characters of this book. "The Catcher in the Rye" certainly wouldn't be everyone's "cup of tea book", however I find it an exciting and captivating reading, with a variety of brutal reality poured in along with some humour, contrasting with moments of depression. For me it's quite difficult to rate this book. On the one hand, it is very strange and depressive. While reading it I was thinking and assuming myself being the heros of this book

because they aren't accustomed to it. When they see, for example, a black-skinned person they start whispering. The situation may be uncomfortable for a dark-skinned people. However, people who are being brought up in countries with wide diversity, are much more tolerant than people who are not. They meet different origins and skin colours while they grow up. They are used to the diversity of the society -- their friends and relatives maybe of another origin. Diversity joins the cultures of people of different origin. Different cultures make the country multifarious and unite the human beings. They can introduce their customs and culture to their fellow countrymen and in the course of time the cultures blend and become one. Yet, this new type of culture has influences on both original cultures. So everybody wins from "diversity'' and receives a new cultural experience. Different people have dissimilar religion

Of course this isn’t true for every Estonian and once you get to know them they’re very open. • Estonians are patriotic due to the hardships during it’s history and their own shared love of their home country. • Historically Estonia is one of the "least religious" countries in the world in terms attitudes, though many Estonians do look for alternative beliefs.
