Inglise keele report: Animals in danger of extinction

Subject: Animals in danger of extinction Date: 20.04.11 The aim of this report is to make an overview of the status of wild animals in the world. The report is based on up-to-date statistics related to the topic. There are several disappointing facts and figures. a) Over the last couple of years the list of animals in danger of extinction has grown rapidly. The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) has calculated the percentage of endangered animals as 40 percent of all organisms. Recent research indicates that 70% of the world's most threatened mammal species are currently receiving little or no conservation attention. On 29 January 2010, the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species identified 842 extinct species and subspecies.

Cars are the greatest danger to human life today

Cars are the greatest danger to human life today Nowadays driving with cars are very popular because they are very convenient and fast. Even though, there are people, who don't use cars for their own reasons. In my opinion, cars are useful and they give us more personal freedom. In the first place, there are a lot of people, who die in a car accident every year. The way I see it, is that peole themselves cause the greatest harm to society, not cars. Cars are not all dangerous if they're driven with care and attention. Another major reason is that cars give us more personal freedom. We can decide where and when we want to travel without having to rely on anyone else. Furthermore, cars are very small and comfortable, that we can easily drive close to different buildings. People argue that cities would be less polluted if cars were banned. They are on opinion that our health is at...

"Wild animals in danger". Ettekanne inglis keeles.

Wild animals in danger 11.02.2010 Wild animals in Estonia, like in many other places in the world, are in danger. Forest industry, agriculture and other human activities in the nature, as well as pollution, disturb and even endanger the life of wild animals. Firstly, there is a serious habitat problem because, after pollution or destruction, habitats take many years (sometimes hundreds or even thousands) to grow again. Pollution and destruction change the balance of nature. Each species in a habitat (for example, wood, jungle, marsh or forest) needs and helps the rest.

Biggest dangers to wild animals in Estonia.

What are the biggest dangers to wild animals in Estonia? Wild animals in Estonia, like in many other places in the world, are in danger. Forest industry, agriculture and other human activities in the nature, as well as pollution, disturb and even endanger the life of wild animals. Firstly, big forest machines disturb animals. For example, in winter the machines disturb animals who hibernate in winter. As a result, animals can leave their habitations and go somewhere else where is quiter. In addition to disturbing animals, the forest industry endanger wild animals' lives. Some machines can simply kill some animals accidentally

1) INDIAN ROCK ART: A NATIONAL TREASURE IN DANGER Unrecognized, unprotected, this priceless legacy of primitive art has endured the ravages of nature only to fall victim to wanton destruction by ,,civilized" man. Like the huge stone statues of Easter Island and prehistoric cave paintings of Altamira and Lascaux, North American Indian rock art is surrounded by an atmosphere of mystery. Although examples of rock art exist at some 15000 sites in canyons, deserts, caves and river gorges. Nowadays, however, primitive rock art in the United States has become a new field of scientific study. Klaus F Wellmann wrote two books about rock art. He is a professor of medicine. Rock art represents the history of aboriginal Americans. In the most cases the art is an expression of ideas and way of life, ritual ceremonies, hunting, fighting. The pictures of people and animals are often strikingly lifelike and artistic. Many of these ancient relics have ...

Stress

Stress Stress is a necessary part of nature. It´s the organism´s defence mechanism for changes in the surrounding enviorment. Without it we could not survive. Stress has many effects on the body that are necessary for a reaction to the stressor. When an animal senses danger, it automatically triggers a fight or flight response. In case of a lifethreatening situation, stress is an invaluable ally. It can even motivate us to prepeare for upcoming challenges. But as we move further and further from our natural habitat, stress becomes more of nuisance than a lifesaver. Things that cause stress to the modern man are nothing compared to the problems that troubled our ancestors. Few hundred years ago the average european was still worrying about his livestock being looted

Aniliini riskianalüüs (eng)

6. Contact The primary method of obtaining aniline - restoration of nitrobenzene. Not found in nature. To my regret there is no information about aniline contact with humans on the internet, so I will just make a guess and inference from all I have raed on this theme. Aniline can be dangerous to workers during transport (damage equipment, etc.) Dyes are made from aniline, chemists who are engaged, are at risk of poisoning. Aniline can be absorbed through the skin or by inhalation. Thus, the danger increases. If the worker does not use all the means of protection, it is subjected to greater risk. A large number of workers in chemical. industry (aniline factories) is in danger of aniline poisoning: textile (dyeing and printing), pharmaceutical (manufacturing of neo-salvarsan) and rubber (using aniline as a solvent). At the comfortable aniline factories whole process of getting aniline from start to finish is mechanized,

Tigers

Cubs also grow fast and they need regular food. Raising cubs is very demanding. There is also a tiger police in this National Park. The aim of this police is to protect tigers from poachers. Locals respect tigers and they see them as the guardians of the forest. Female tiger's cubs grow fast and they are old enough to eat meat. At the moment it is not a problem because there is plenty of food because it is deer mating season and the deer are less alert to danger. This makes them easy targets but water and deer also attract wild dogs. Wild dogs are danger to the cubs but luckily they mainly kill deer. It is the hottest time of the year and the grass is dried up but soon come monsoons. It makes hunting difficult for the tigers because of too big deer herds but there is also another serious problem. Female tiger is attacked by a new male tiger but she and her cubs are not injured.

Film review Chocolat

In village was the beginning of fasting and people weren’t eating so much. Vianne moves with her daughter into a disused bakery facing the church, where a man - Francis Reynaud - watches her arrival with disapproval and is suspicious. When he realizes that Vianne wants to open a chocolate shop in place of the old bakery, influencing the church-goers, Reynaud’s disapproval increases more. As it becomes clear that villagers are being influenced by Vianne, he quickly sees her as danger. Under Vianne’s control an old woman starts a new life, a wife finds courage to leave her mean husband, children rebel against authority and Reynaud’s community is danger of falling apart. Soon is Easter and Vianne and Reynaud start preparing: Vianne for a chocolate festival, Reynaud for winning back hearts of the villagers. At first, I thought this film is an uninteresting old film. However, I found out that it is really thrilling and fascinating. I enjoyed that it was slow-moving but

How does the United States influence Estonia?

linguists speculating that Estonian will soon be gone and forgotten. We cannot deny that we have not taken up some words from the English language and that the younger generation is not using more and more loan words. However, I do not think that our language is in great danger because for example Estonian is one of the 24 official and working languages in the European Union. Therefore, our language is not in danger of disappearing any time soon but it will develop and expand with the influence of English. It is only a natural to happen. We have great relations with America and although its’ influence is noticeable; we should not worry because hopefully we will change for the better. Except for the junk food, we should not take up their eating habits. That is my only concern.

winter. No, it's not skiing, it's ice skating! I love it and it doesn't urge not much at all in the winter. All you need are ice skates, warm clothes and clean ice, which exist in the countryside too. I have bought myself figure skates, which didn't cost much, because i bought already used ones. Ice skates can be really expensive, but you should buy expensive ones, when you are already professional. The primary danger in ice skating is falling on the ice. You can be injured really seriously, but usually you just get some bumps or bruises. The second, and more serious danger is falling through the ice into the freezing water, when you are skating on the lake or on the pond. It may end with drowning. That's why you should always check ice thickness before and when you are going to skate, you should bring somebody with you.

Safety on the road

from crashes of road vehicles. Harm from road traffic crashes is greater than that from all other transportation modes (air, sea, space, off-terrain, etc.) combined. Million people are killed on the world's roads each year. Unfortunately it includes school children as well. Is it really that hard to ensure safety in school areas? Why youngsters have to suffer because of lausy drivers? School children have been in great danger since there have been cars but it has grown throught time because of the big number of drivers. The more there are people, the more there are drivers, the more are cars and the biggers is the possibility of accidents. Road traffic crashes are one of the world's largest public health and injury prevention problems. The problem is all the more acute because the victims are overwhelmingly healthy prior to their crashes. According to the World Health Organization more than a

Uurimustöö Sloth

Sloth Sloths live in Central and South America. Sloths are mostly about the size of the small dog. They are about 50- 60 cm long. Sloths have short, flat heads , big eyes , a short snout, long legs and tiny ears , and they also have stubby tails. Sloths move only when necessary and even then very slowly : they can move at a marginally higher speed if they are in immediate danger from a predator (4.5 m or 15 feet per minute), but they burn large amounts of energy doing so. They may eat insects, small lizards, and carrion, but their diet consists mostly of buds, tender shoots, and leaves, mainly of Cecropia trees. It lives about 30 years long. Sloth moves very slow , thats why they are called a lazy animal. On the ground their maximum speed is 0.54 meters per second (1.2 mph).

My mother tongue in 21th century

Compared to English speakers, it's nothing. The Estonian language has changed very much as the years have gone by. The expressions that were used years ago are replaced with English phrases, which are especially popular among young people. That's because almost all films, song lyrics and popular TV shows are in English. They also use slang too much. It's quite possible, that soon the Estonian language dies out and replaces with English. The second reason, why Estonian is in big danger, is because the little importance of the language. Almost everyone can speak at least one foreign language and nowadays the travelling possibilities are also very good. So if the Estonian language has no importance, it's possible, that if several nations will mix and there will be no Estonian anymore. Estonian language is nearing extinction in the 21th century. People should think more about the importance of the language and protect it from foreign influences.

Nobody can win a war

Nobody can win a war. People started to make a war thousands years ago. During this time they had different purposes, but the final was the same a war caused a great deal of sorrow. But is it worth fighting? Are there any winners or losers in war? Firstly, both sides get bored with a feud. It makes much money, physical and moral strength. Not only soldiers civilian population gets tired of being in a danger and worrying about relatives and friends. Secondly, the consequences of a war are horrible. Terrible memories would not leave people. Every time they recall those events, they suffer again because no one is able to make somebody happy fighting. Thirdly, a lot of people die. Families lose their breadwinners and children become orphans. Moreover, some of them may become homeless, it takes lots of time to rehabilitate and restore cities. Hunger and illnesses make innocent people unhappy.

Tourism

We can find out more about foreign cultures and traditions or languages. In this sense traveling can be an instructive experience. On the other hand, tourism can be really destructive for the environment. Nowadays people want to be everywhere in the African jungle or in the depth of the sea. In this way they are interfering in the natural course of the wilderness There is another danger. If we set off to the country in which there are common exotic diseases without inoculation, we can expose ourselves not only to wasted holidays, but even to death. To sum up tourism brings advantages and disadvantages, but life without it won't be so interesting.

Why are people ingnoring evironmental issues

People are always talking about environmental issues without actually doing anything about it.There are not many people who are devoted to saving the Earth. It seems like people just do not care, but that might be just a small part of the reason. The biggest reason for ignoring environmental issues might be that people tend to focus on immediate problems rather than on problems that are far away in the future and seem unrealistic. If there is no immediate danger or a problem to be fixed, than people just do not consider it to be important. And people do have immediate problems to be fixed, because life is getting busier each day. People have already so much to worry about, they do not have the time to make „Earth saving plans“. The perfect reason, or rather an excuse is that ordinary people do not have time to care about environmental issues. Of course, if people would want to, they would make time to care, but the truth

The Internet and Social Order

The Internet and Social Order KAROLIN PETERSON The Internet is, as of today, a fairly unrestricted medium where all sorts of information can be published and accessed. Do I think there should be any restrictions and censorship imposed relating to inappropriate or potentially dangerous content that could pose a threat to public safety? In my opinion there shouldn't be any kind of information that could danger people available online e.g you can easily find instructions how to build a bomb (smoke bomb, atomic bomb) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rUakUPkbpU checking in online (e.g on facebook) shows where you are at the moment and that makes it easy for the burglars to know when you're away from home. Do I think the government has any right or reason to monitor people's online activity? The government should find out about potential threats online but should still

Dangers As we see ICTs have many advantages, but there is always the other side. There are dangers that one must be aware of. For example one must remember that everything that is once on internet will always be there. Your future employer can see the pictures that you have uploaded to Facebook and other sites like this. And I think that it is bad to share too much personal information online. You will never know who might abuse it and how it's done. There is a lot of anonymity online. That's a danger too because it seems that you can say everything and there will be no punishment but actually it is not like that at all. If there is insulting or threatening online there is a way to find out who did it. There are many children online. So they are threatened too. There are many predators who might claim to be someone that they are not and make friends with children. Then when children trust them they might make them send inappropriate pictures or what's even worse meet them.

Internet chatrooms do not serve a useful purpose, essay

In chatrooms there are sometimes older men who are trying to contact young girls. I saw a documentary about chatrooms lately and there were men who set up a date with under- aged girl, they recorded it and it was sent to police, because having more-than- friends-relationship with under- aged girl is against the law. Parents and schools should be teaching more about Internet safety nowadays to help kids understand about chatroom dangers. In my opinion second important danger is cheating money from innocent people behind their back. Internet chatrooms gain money by adding any kind of advertisements to their application. Many of those advertisements have text for example ,,You won 1 million'' or ,,Write here your phone number and get new Mobile Phone''. But if people click there and insert all the numbers and addresses what are needed there, then for example your phone bill is growing every month and you

Apologies

or resestment felt by the person we have behaved badly towards. In the words of the Canadian cartoonist Lynn Johnston "An apology is the superglue of life-it can repair just about anything". However a recent survey suggests that in Britain the word ,,sorry" is being used in various situations where it doesn't have the traditional purpose of expressing regret for something a person has said or done. Arguably, the word is now being overused and might even be in danger of losing its meaning. Based on a sample of 1,100 people, the survey produced the statistic that the average British person will say sorry almost 2 million times in his or her lifetime. It found that on many occasions people use the word ,,sorry" to tell others that they don't have time to say or do something that was said (,,Sorry what was that?") or for( ,,exuse me") when they want to get someone's attention(,,Sorry, have you got the time?")

Should space exploration be a priority

might be harder to rebuild the society here than to move to another planet that is not damaged. On the other hand, the money and time we would spend on space exploration by making it our priority might be better off spent here on earth. We could instead study our planet more to find new ways we could make living here better. Also we could invest in building better factories, which wouldn't damage the earth and put our lives in danger. In conclusion, space exploration is important because one day we might need help from somewhere else but that doesn't mean that that should be the only thing we focus on. In my opinion we should take care of our own planet and let it be our priority because destroying one planet after another wouldn't work out very well. I think that there are so many things we should learn about earth before moving on to other planets. Eva Lenke Asszonyi

Traveling

travelling, yet others try to experience the culture and visit as many sightseeings as possible. Also it brings in good money, especially when the country or an area is attractive and good weather is guaranteed. That money could be used wisely, like building new sightseeings or renovate the old ones. However, it brings us not only benefits, but also dangers. Some tourists don't respect the places they visit and they dump trash or vandalise. There is also a danger of overcrowding and epidemics. The most popular places to which people travel are mountains, seasides or warm countries. The advantage of tourism is the mutual cooperation of the tourists and people who are working in this business. I have traveld into two countries :Finland and Latvia. Both trips was class trips. In the future i would like to visit Italy and Scottland. Also i would like to take a trip to south-estonia,because i have never been there.

Floods and Tsunamis

Floods and Tsunamis Flood is a natural event or occurrence where a piece of land that is usually dry land, suddenly gets submerged under water. Some floods can occur suddenly and recede quickly. Others take days or even months to build and discharge. When floods happen in an area that people live, the water carries along objects like houses, bridges, cars, furniture and even people. It can wipe away farms, trees and many more heavy items. Floods occur at irregular intervals and vary in size, duration and the affected area. It is important to note that water naturally flows from high areas to low lying areas. This means low-lying areas may flood quickly before it begins to get to higher ground. Flooding is extremely dangerous and has the potential to wipe away an entire city, coastline or area, and cause extensive damage to life and property. It also has great erosive power and can be extremely destructive, even if it is a foot high. ...

My Teacher

My teacher There are many teachers in the World, but no such else have I seen as I have now. When furious, her eyes have a poisonous flame of danger in it; when glad, her silent praise is like the soft wind of pleasing sakuras. Every day we spend no matter the emotional appearance, is filled with lots of happy laughter and fun remarks no other teacher even notices about her students: my teacher is a really special, yet mysterious person. Her light eyes turn grey on rainy days, blue on sunny ones; sweet dimples decorate her blushing cheeks when she smiles; a little piped pink lips with big soft

Technology in our daily lives

consumer organisations and so on and who is there to keep an eye on what happens to it? It is certainly convenient to store information in this way, but I feel it could lead to longterm problems. There may be other hidden dangers theoretically, could a 'thinking' computer start to use the data against us? To sum up, I believe that we must be very careful with technology. While it has clear advantages, there is also the danger that it could turn on us and we could find ourselves the victims of our own success.

1984 book conclusion

1948 is book that has many ideas twisted together. Lovestory, fears, how Winston whose daily work is rewriting history tries to rebel by falling in love to Julia, altough she isn´t his taste. This book was very interesting because there are many connections to real life for example Big Brother evokes to the cult of personality buillt up around Joseph Stalin, also Winston´s job „revising history“ is based on the Stalinist habit of airbrushing images of „fallen“ people from group photographs and removing references to them in books and newspapers. The thought police is based on the NKVD and the tortures of the Minstry of Love evoke the procedures used by the NKVD. Actually the statement „2+2=5“ that Winston had to beliece was a communist party slogan from the second five-year plan, in which they wanted to full five-year plan in four years. In my opinion it goeds together with nowadays- that people want to get more and faster, they do no...

Jacob - her best friend who is werewolf - still ignores Bella and it makes so much suffering to her. At last he sends to Bella a letter and writes that he actually miss Bella so much. Werewolves and vampires are ancient enemies but since Edward's family came into existence, an uneasy truce has taken place. To top it all off, a plague of murders taking place in Seattle points to an impending vampire threat. I think my biggest problem with this book is the way Bella constantly deludes herself. Alice has a vision at lunch while sitting with Bella and Edward. Bella is curious and
