Biggest dangers to wild animals in Estonia.

What are the biggest dangers to wild animals in Estonia? Wild animals in Estonia, like in many other places in the world, are in danger. Forest industry, agriculture and other human activities in the nature, as well as pollution, disturb and even endanger the life of wild animals. Firstly, big forest machines disturb animals. For example, in winter the machines disturb animals who hibernate in winter. As a result, animals can leave their habitations and go somewhere else where is quiter. In addition to disturbing animals, the forest industry endanger wild animals' lives. Some machines can simply kill some animals accidentally. Besides, there are some species which are rear in Estonian forests. These species should be protected. A further problem is poaching- although it is not a very big problem in Estonia, it affects the number of animals. There are, however, a lot of wild animals in ou...

"Wild animals in danger". Ettekanne inglis keeles.

Wild animals in danger 11.02.2010 Wild animals in Estonia, like in many other places in the world, are in danger. Forest industry, agriculture and other human activities in the nature, as well as pollution, disturb and even endanger the life of wild animals. Firstly, there is a serious habitat problem because, after pollution or destruction, habitats take many years (sometimes hundreds or even thousands) to grow again. Pollution and destruction change the balance of nature. Each species in a habitat (for example, wood, jungle, marsh or forest) needs and helps the rest. As a result, forests are been cutting down. And what has taken the place of these green, natural places? Houses, farms, cities, streets, roads and factories. Because of this (and pollution, too) several species are dying all over the world. In ad...

Sample Letter to the Editor Letter to the Editor [ Date ] [ Newspaper Name ] [ Newspaper Address ] [ RE: Headline and author if you're writing in reference to a story OR "Performing Animals in the City of _______" ] Dear Editor: While circuses and traveling shows featuring wild animal acts may seem innocent enough, it has become apparent over the past decade that wild animal acts are inherently cruel and unsafe. Most circuses and traveling shows that use wild animals keep them for months on end in cramped transport cages, sometimes hardly larger than they are, with only brief periods outside to perform. The animals have no opportuni- ty to move or behave in a natural way. That's why veterinarians, animal behaviourists, biologists and animal welfare organizations around the world have condemned wild animal acts. Circuses and traveling shows with wild animals also pose a risk to human safety. Numerous circus employees have been...

Elistvere Animal Park

Elistvere Animal Park One Sunday in October I visited Elistvere Animal Park. There are wild animals in the park that naturally live in Estonian wild nature. Unlike most zoos there animals live in as natural conditions as possible. In Elistvere I saw elks, lynxes, foxes, wild boars and many more animals that we can come across in nature. Also I saw there animals who don't live in Estonian nature but they can easily live in our climatical conditions, for example European buffalos and reindeers. There is a terrarium house where are smaller and exotical animals but unfortunately it was closed that day. Most of all I like lynxes and brown bear. There are also hiking trails where you can walk and enjoy Estonian nature's beauty or have a picnic. Day in Elistvere Animal Park was very exciting despite of the fact that there were constructional works and trails were very muddy

REPORT To: local authorities From: a member of the Nature Club Subject: environmental situation at Poku Date: 22 February 2012 As a member on the Nature Club I have decided to write a report describing the environmental situation and make some recommendations based of the opinion poll. The situation at Poku is satisfying. Water and noise pollution is low because there are no cities around here. Wildlife is good and getting better because we have beautiful forests near Poku which gives good living and development places for wild animals. Paper and glass recycling is well organized. We have paper and glass containers and workers are cleaning them daily basis. Due to the fact that overall life in Poku is good we still have some problematic things to consider. Nowadays government has started to cut trees near Poku. This affects development of animals living in these areas because it takes away ...

"White Fang" (Jack London)

White Fang is the title of a novel by American author Jack London. The novel was first serialized in The Outing Magazine in May to October 1906. White Fang explore the violent world of wild animals and the equally violent world of supposedly-civilized humans. The book also explores complex themes including morality and redemption.White Fang has been adapted for the screen numerous times, including a live-action Disney film in 1991 which starred Ethan Hawke. ...

Protecting endangered species will make a difference in humans life

Protecting endangered species will make a difference in humans' life In the nature of humankind it is natural to hunt animals. However, nowadays hunting endangered species will make humans be just killers, because it is not necessary to kill something just to have a trophy on the wall at home. People can be proud of what they have done, but decreasing the population of a species largely will cause the specific animal breed to go extinct faster than it would happen via natural causes. Therefore, humans should stop hunting endangered species to slow down their extinction, as these species offer balance in the wildlife, are used without purpose in medicine, and may even reduce poverty. Species on the brink of extinction affect us more than we realize. Sure, pandas are cute, and rhinos are fun to look at, but is there anything more to that? All animals and plants form a very important part of our ecosystem that also includes our land...

Subject: Animals in danger of extinction Date: 20.04.11 The aim of this report is to make an overview of the status of wild animals in the world. The report is based on up-to-date statistics related to the topic. There are several disappointing facts and figures. a) Over the last couple of years the list of animals in danger of extinction has grown rapidly. The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) has calculated the percentage of endangered animals as 40 percent of all organisms. Recent research indicates that 70% of the world's most threatened mammal species are currently receiving little or no conservation attention. On 29 January 2010, the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species identified 842 extinct species and subspecies. b) The rarest animal on Earth today is the Pinta Island Tortoise (originating from the Galapagos Islands) , which is critically endangered, since t...

Rare animals Rare Chinese tiger seen in the wild Researchers have confirmed that a wild tiger, photographed by a farmer in the Qinba Mountains of Shaanxi Province, Central China, is indeed that of the critically endangered South China tiger. The South China tiger classified as one of only five subspecies of tiger still alive today is extremely rare, with only an estimated 20 to 30 still remaining in the wild. The wildlife and conservation group WWF says the South China tiger is actually native to the Hainan most forests of south-east China, and because there are so few individuals left, it is regarded by many scientists as being "functionally extinct" in the wild. But a group called Save China's Tigers has been working on a captive- breeding programme and hopes to reach an agreement with China's State Forestry Administration to reintroduce captive-bred animals into the wild. Animals we miss today

Causes: *The main cause of animal extinction, without doubt,is human demand, either for animal resources directly, or for the natural resources of the animals' habitats. *In addition to that, there are other indirect causes caused by human activities. *Habitat loss: Is considered to be the main cause for animal extinction. Humans are clearing our forests for wood and timber. The foodchain is disturbed and animals will die. *Wildlife trade: Poaching and wildlife trade are another common threat to animals. International wildlife trade has also been linked to drugs trade. The most common anilmal trade is pet trade, such as orangutangs. Animals are also killed for fur(tigers, leopards, cheetahs) *Climate change: It has been recently suggested that warmer global temperatures may be affecting animals. In fact, it has been suggested that the golden toad became extinct because of the warmer climate. The Animals *T-REX: Tyrannosaurus rex was on...

Natural zones and flora of Australia

Natural Zones and Flora. There are five distinguishable natural zones in Australia. In the very east there are wet forests (1.) that occupy the space between the Great Dividing Range and the eastern coast. Westward from the Great Dividing Range the wet forests give place to beautiful grasslands with some trees . These grasslands are called the savannas (2.). Farther west the trees disappear and the bushlands (3.) begin. The real desert (4.) occupies the centre of the Western Plateau. In the very southwest there are thin forests of evergreen trees (5.). Most of Australian trees are kinds of eucalyptus trees (or gum trees to Australians) and acacia ( wattle to Australians). Eucalyptus trees are found everywhere in Australia. There are many kinds of them and they greatly differ in size. One kind, the great mountain ash, can grow to 120 metres and it grows in the wet forests in the eastern part of the continent. These strong trees do not d...

Yellow stone puma

The Mountain Lion cougar (Puma concolor), also puma, cougar, or panther, is a member of the Felidae family, native to the Americas. This large, solitary cat has the greatest range of any wild land mammal in the Western Hemisphere, extending from Yukon in Canada to the southern Andes of South America. An adaptable species, the cougar is found in every major North American habitat. The Mountain lions of Yellowstone region were significantly reduced by predator control measures during the early 1900s. It is reported that 121 lions were removed from the park between the years 1904 and 1925. Then, the remaining population was estimated to be 12 individuals. Mountain lions apparently existed at very low numbers between 1925 and 1940. They maintain a secretive profile in the Yellowstone region. Although the cougar population numbered in the hundreds during the early 1900s, controlled hunts between 1904 and 1925 decimated the population. Today,...

I'd like to present the main issues of our planet and today i'll name 5 of them. These are air pollution, water pollution, endangered animals, deforestation and rubbish. Air pollution Firstly, lets talk about air pollution, which endangeres our life in cities and also the forests near by. Cars and factories blow poisoned gas in the air and it mixes with the oxygen, so the air that we breathe, becomes dangerous to our health. The ozone layer around the Earth, there is a special type of oxygen called ,,ozone". Ozone is important because it stops ultraviolett radiation from the sun. Many aerosol sprays and factories destroy ozone and they have made a very big hole in the ozone layer. This means that too much ultraviolet radiation now enters the Earth. This is very dangerous because it can cause cancer. Poisonous chemicals ...

Temperate deciduous forests, woodlands and shrub

Temperate deciduous forests, woodlands and shrub Tartu 2008 Location: Temperate forests are typical of all European continent, the Eastern region of Asia (in special, Chinese and Japan) and North America. Also are finded in tempered areas of South America. Climate: The average temperature in temperate forests is 50° F. Summers are mild, and average about 70° F, while winter temperatures are often well blow freezing. The average yearly precipitation is 30-60 inches. This precipitation falls throughout the year, but in the winter it falls as snow. There are four seasons in this biome, with warm summers and cold winters, often snowy. In autumn, the leaves change color and fall from the trees. The leaves decay on the forest floor, so the soil is very rich. Because of this, and because of the long growing season, many deciduous forests have been cut down for farming purposes. Plants: Trees of this biome include hardwood...

Sometimes Australia is called the island continent . Two hundred years ago there were no white people in Australia . The only inhabitants were dark-skinned people who were still living in a Stone Age . Their only weapons were stone knives, simple spears, and boomerangs . For food they hunted and fished and gathered wild fruits and nuts . Dutch sailors stopped at several places on the northern and western coasts in the 1600s . Like most subtropical mammals, but unlike most bears, the giant panda does not hibernate. The Giant Panda is endangered as there are only 2,000-3,000 of them living in the wild and about 270 living in captivity. They have become endangered due to the destruction of their habitat and the variety of bamboo that is decreasing. They are also illegally hunted for their fur. To protect them, there have been many special wildlife parks set up. Elephants live in Central Africa and are the largest land animals alive today. They eat grass, twigs and some fruit. In many Asian countries elephants are symbols of wisdom and are famed for their memory and high intelligence. Once numbering in the millions, the African elephant population has dwindled to between 470,000 ...

The Dog fence

The Dog Fence When you think about the world's longest manmade structures, China and Great Britain (Stonehenge) spring to mind. Very rarely does the Australian continent get a mention, which is a shame, because the Dog Fence, or Dingo Fence, is the longest structures on earth. The Dingo Fence is a barrier that was built in Australia during the 1880s and finished in 1885.This fence was built only on one purpose: to stop dingoes (Australia’s wild dogs) from killing sheep. It is one of the longest structures on the planet, and the world's longest fence. it’s 3,307 miles long. That makes about 5,320 km. That is about two and a half times longer than the Great Wall of China. The fence starts near the coast of Great Australian Bight and ends up in the eastern part of Queensland in the Bunya Mountains, not far from the Pacific Ocean. At the time, it was the longest man-made structure in the world. It was ...

to do and you need some entertainment. Also, when your problems seem to grow over your head and you feel that you need to share them with someone. The second good thing about living in Estonia is the nature. We have many beautiful places in our amazing country the best example are the forests. In many European countries, the biggest forest you can find is the size if Hiiumaa, but half of our country is forests with many species of wild-animals. Thirdly, we have our own language. Estonian is one the most unique languages in the whole wide world. Sadly, many youngsters do not want to speak it and instead, they speak English and ohter languages, which seem more interesting. We are losing our native speakers fast and I am sure, that the grandchildren of our generation will not speak Estonian like we do now. Even though I just described some of the reasons to be a proud Estonian, I am sure, that one day I will leave again

The reason for the use of the pictures of these heroines is because they protected the province from the Burmese in 1785 AD. Estonian traditional musical instruments Musical instruments and music making are inseparable from cultural tradition. A musical instrument developed musical capacities of children as a sonic toy. It served hunters and herdsmen as a vital tool, that affected the catch or wellbeing of the village herd. It was often used to signal information. Making music provides a human being feelings of relaxation and aesthetic enjoyment. Musical instruments have accompanied important ritual practices but provided also music for dance. Estonian ethnomusicologist Herbert Tampere (19091975) categorised musical instruments according to their function into two main groups: 1) traditional instruments instruments created by the folk, and instruments of professional origin that people use traditionally while developing them spontaneously (e.g. kannel, bagpipe, mouth harp); 2) popular instruments instruments of professional music that have enter...

Reflective Statement Antigone

Johanna Merirand Reflective Statement How was your understanding of the cultural and contextual considerations of the work developed during your interactive oral? My comprehension of the traditions and culture of the ancient Greek was substantially enhanced through the discussion we had on the conflict between men and nature in Antigone by Sophocles. The two main characters in the play are Antigone and Creon, who both are motivated by their hubris and the need for glory. In the play, Antigone rebels against the rules set out by Creon, when she attempts to bury her brother even though it has been prohibited by the state. Antigone is sentenced with a death penalty, which is found unreasonable by many of the other members of the society. In the discussion we explored the nature of men and authority i...
