Speech: The challenges of the 21st century

We create traps, from which is difficult to get out. For example the using of the calculator generates in us the fixation. We can excellently calculate but we still use a calculator and so we are forgetting all these elementary things. Have any of you recently written to your relatives by hand? If so, I believe a few of you. We are merely in the beginning of the 21 st century, but technical development has got a hard push whereas ours is slowing down. So what happens in the end of the century? Only recently I discussed with my friends that it would be nice if we had a teleport, which allow us to go home without riding on a bus or going on foot. Maybe it isn't just a dream and some day we would have it, but what about our health? Even now so many people are suffering from obesity and imagine the situation when nobody needs to exercise at all. I believe that it is not worth it.

How to Stop Water Pollution

hard time finding people to sign up to help. Once you get the ball rolling, you might be surprised at just how many people are willing to step up to help you clean up your local waterways. You Can Make a Difference While water pollution solutions may seem like too little, too late when viewed in the light of major oil spills and floating plastic bag islands they are necessary to prevent these problems from growing worse. Simply slowing down the rate of pollution can give the environment and scientists time to find long-term solutions to the very real problems of water pollution. If you do your part to prevent pollution in your area, then you'll be helping to protect water for both yourself and everything else that relies upon this precious resource. Alari Kasekamp

Transmission and differential

All the driver has to do is shift the selector from Park (P) or Neutral (N), into Drive (D), and rear(R) the gear shifting will take place automatically and smoothly, without any additional input from the driver under normal driving conditions. Differential The differential has three jobs: ● To aim the engine power at the wheels ● To act as the final gear reduction in the vehicle, slowing the rotational speed of the transmission one final time before it hits the wheels ● To transmit the power to the wheels while allowing them to rotate at different speeds (This is the one that earned the differential its name.) ● Crown wheele-hamasvöö(taldrikratas) Differential ● Pinion-koonushammasratas ● Inner half shaft-sisemine(parem) poolvõll ● Propeller shaft-kardaanvõll ● Large gear-rattavõlli hammasrattad

road signs All speed limit signs in the Republic changed to the metric system in 2005. Some direction signs still show distance in miles so tourists often mix them up. There are usually about 10 signs or more on one post , and its really hard to see them when driving, so tourists disturb traffic quite often when slowing down to read the signs All the signs are multilingual ,due to high percentage of English speakers Forests Ireland has only about 8 % of his whole land covered with forests. Centuries ago people cut the forests and didn't think about the future so nowadays there is mostly peat ( turvas) which Ireland uses to produce energy. Economy Ireland had a big economic boom in the late 20'th century, but now the Republic of Ireland is ranked the second wealthiest per capita country in the European Union

The same holds true for unusual shortenings (e.g. "bacon and e."). Phrasal verbs are more expressive than their one-word counterparts and they are colloquial. Nouns converted from such verbs are even more colloquial (e.g. "a car was in a smash-up", "a pick-up", etc.). 6. PHONETIC EXPRESSIVE MEANS AND STYLISTIC DEVICES We distinguish between prosodic means and orchestration of sounds. Prosodic means include such elements of speech as loudness, pitch, acceleration or slowing down the tempo, pauses, stress, etc. In this respect the written text is far from perfect. Much of it can be pronounced differently and therefore understood differently. LOUDNESS: Depends on many factors. Diminished loudness expresses intimacy, mildness, shyness, but also threat and warning. A loud voice may express familiarity, good heartedness, excitement, etc. PITCH: Depends on a state of excitement. It is high when a person is angry/excited; low when disappointed, desperate, sorrowful.

Phonostylistics Phonostylistics studies phonetic features which are at the speaker's writer's disposal to emphasize words or the whole utterance. The phonetic arrangement of the utterance does not exist by itself- it is iseparably connected with the meaning and message. Phonetically we distinguish between prosodic means and what may be termed as orchestration of sounds. Prosodic means Include such phenomena of speech as loudness, diapason (pitch), acceleration or slowing down the tempo, pausation, logical and emphatic stress, intonation contours. In this respect the written text is far from being perfect, much of it can be pronounced differently and therefore understood differently. Loudness The tone of the voice may vary from being cold, sharp, contemptuous to being tender, gay etc. Depends on many factors. opportunity to exclude others from making, selling or using patent-like products. To receive that protection, invention has to pass certain procedure, hereby nanotechnological inventions arise questionable aspects, which give opportunity to doubt of patentability. The main cause of that situation is the patent law inflexibility to adjust in accordance with progress. In the light of the work, author established two hypotheses: (1) is current patent law slowing down innovation and commercialization of nanotechnology; and (2) is fitting nanotechnological inventions into valid patent law impossible and to grant effective protection and process, it is necessary to use different solutions or to great another framework. In conclusion, patent law is undoubtedly too rigid to regulate patenting of extreme interdisciplinary technology, thereby ensuring effective protection and natural growth.

few bits to 1 MB for active tags. Benefits: The main benefit of RFIDs is that, unlike barcodes, RFID tags can be read automatically by electronic readers. Imagine a truck carrying a container full of widgets entering a shipping terminal in China. If the container is equipped with an RFID tag, and the terminal has an RFID sensor network, that container's whereabouts can be automatically sent to Widget Co. without the truck ever slowing down. It has the potential to add a substantial amount of visibility into the extended supply chain. The benefits are divided into two parts (a) Benefits to Organisation: Inventory Management:- Maintain a real-time view of tagged inventory as it flows through the supply chain. 27 Track discrete movement of tagged inventory.

Business peciliarities in Ukraine and Bealrus

that demand and prices for agricultural products will continue upwards trend. Ukraine with Europe's best and largest areas for agriculture is very well positioned to benefit from the World's growing demand for food. Other commodities exported by Ukraine (such as steel, coal, chemicals etc) are and will continue to be affected by cycles of the global economy there will be periods of growing demand and prices hikes as well as periods of slowing demand and declining price. Ukraine's dependence on energy supplies and the lack of significant structural reform have made the Ukrainian economy vulnerable to external shocks. Ukraine depends on imports to meet about 75% of its annual oil and natural gas requirements and 100% of its nuclear fuel needs. The strong correlation between world commodity prices and Ukraine's economic growth can be seen in Figure below. 14

As they approached me, I realized they weren't too many years older than I was. They were joking loudly among themselves, laughing raucously and punching each other's arms. I scooted as far to the inside of the sidewalk as I could to give them room, walking swiftly, looking past them to the corner. "Hey, there!" one of them called as they passed, and he had to be talking to me since no one else was around. I glanced up automatically. Two of them had paused, the other two were slowing. The closest, a heavyset, dark-haired man in his early twenties, seemed to be the one who had spoken. He was wearing a flannel shirt open over a dirty t-shirt, cut-off jeans, and sandals. He took half a step toward me. "Hello," I mumbled, a knee-jerk reaction. Then I quickly looked away and walked faster toward the corner. I could hear them laughing at full volume behind me. "Hey, wait!" one of them called after me again, but I kept my head down and rounded the corner with a sigh of relief

relaxed into his expert hold. "I like this." Nuzzling against me, he murmured, "That's the idea." Bliss. It lasted as long as the dance did. We were exiting the dance floor when I caught sight of Magdalene off to the side. It took me a moment to recognize her because she'd cut her hair into a sleek bob. She looked slender and classy in a simple black cocktail dress, but was eclipsed by the striking brunette she was speaking to. Gideon's stride faltered, slowing fractionally before resuming his usual pace. I was looking down, thinking he'd avoided something on the floor, when he said quietly, "I need to introduce you to someone." My attention shifted to see where we were going. The woman with Magdalene had spotted Gideon and turned to face him. I felt his forearm tense beneath my fingers the moment their gazes met. I could see why. The woman, whoever she was, was deeply in love with Gideon. It was there on her face and

Christopher Vogler The Writers Journey

.." In this chapter, we'll explore that "world o f c o m m o n day," the O r d i n a r y W o r l d , and see how it frames the hero and sets modern-day stories in m o t i o n . T h e opening of any story, be it myth, fairy tale, screenplay, novel, short story, or comic book, has some special burdens to bear. It must hook the reader or viewer, set the tone of the story, suggest where it's going, and get across a mass of information without slowing the pace. A beginning is, indeed, a delicate time. A GUIDE T O T H E JOURNEY As a guide through the labyrinth of story, let's imagine ourselves as a tribe of people who live by hunting and gathering, as our ancestors did a hundred thousand years ago, or as people still do in remote parts of the world today. W e ' l l check in with these Seekers at each stage of the hero's journey, and try to put ourselves in their skins. 83

The 4-Hour Body - An Uncommon Guide to Rapid Fat-Loss, Incredible Sex, and Becoming Superhuman - Timothy Ferriss

Bench Press--8 slow reps Starting weight--30 lbs. Present weight--90 lbs. 4. Row--8 slow reps Starting weight--50 lbs. Present weight--120 lbs. 5. Curl--12 slow reps Starting weight--15 lbs. Present weight--50 lbs. Subject X, aged 65, was depressed by his slowing rate of weight loss. The real question was: should he have been? The Deceptive Scale Looking at his exercise logs, he showed massive strength gains in the three months where he showed the least weight loss. I didn't think this was a coincidence. He had almost tripled his strength in all movements, and to estimate 10 pounds of lean muscle gain over those three months would be conservative. This would make his actual fat-loss closer to 18 pounds, not the scale's 8.
