Kilt

The first clear reference to the kilt occurs in the year 1594.In that year, a group of Highlanders from the Western Isles went to Ireland to fight under Red Hugh O`Donnell. It was made from wool or a wool/linen combination and twill woven in a pattern of colored stripes which today has become known as tartan, though originally the word tartan referred to the type of cloth (like linen, or cotton) and not the pattern of colors as the word almost exclusively signifies today. At nearly every Highland Games gathering today, there are vendors who sell tartan items, whether kilts, blankets, scarves, ties, or tartan fabric. The small pillory (for smaller criminals) was fixed to the wall of the Town Hall. Both pillories were used when people were birched. The punishment was carried out by the hangman and his assistants and was considered a great shame and dishonour. The pillories were still in use in the 19th century. 72 peasants who had taken part in the disturbances of Kose-Uuemõisa in 1806, were birched in the small pillory (a number of them were later sent to Siberia). A round stone slab in the square signifies the place of the pillory. Town Hall Square was not a place of execution, but there was one exception. At the end of the 17th century a priest, being drunk in a pub, had killed the maid in anger. After that he went to the Town Hall and confessed to the crime. Usually murderers were hanged on the Gallows Hill, but he was sentenced to honourable death by the hangman's sword, as he " had been affected ", when he committed the crime. However, his trial also signified something else. The weight of papal authority which had brought Galileo to his knees also succeeded in halting [peatamises ] the growth of the new science in Italy. It is no accident then, that following Galileo's death in 1642 that the greatest advances in science would come from outside Italy in countries like England, Holland and Germany. These were, after all, Protestant countries with a tradition of protest and toleration. But 1642 also signifies something else for it was in that year that the man most responsible for producing modern science was born. That man was Isaac Newton. 16421730 III We can't imagine that the Scientific Revolution of the 16th and 17th centuries took place in a vacuum [ tühjuses, iseenesest ]. express love. T h e hero of Ghost is unable to say "I love y o u " at the beginning of the film. Only after he has run the course of the journey from life to death is he able to say those magic words. It can be very effective to show that a hero is unable to perform some simple task at the beginning of the story. In Ordinary People the y o u n g hero C o n r a d is unable to eat French toast his mother has prepared for him. It signifies, in symbolic language, his inability to accept being loved and cared for, because of the terrible guilt he bears over the accidental death o f his brother. It's only after he undertakes an emotional hero's journey, and relives and processes the death through therapy, that he is able to accept love. So when you are alert and contemplate a flower, crystal, or bird without naming it mentally, it becomes a window for you into the formless. There is an inner opening, however slight, into the realm of spirit. This is why these three “en-lightened” life-forms have played such an important part in the evolution of human consciousness since ancient times; why, for example, the jewel in the lotus flower is a central symbol of Buddhism and a white bird, the dove, signifies the Holy Spirit in Christianity. They have been preparing the ground for a more profound shift in planetary consciousness that is destined to take place in the human species. This is the spiritual awakening that we are beginning to witness now. THE PURPOSE OF THIS BOOK Is humanity ready for a transformation of consciousness, an inner flowering so radical and profound that compared to it the flowering of plants, no matter how beautiful, is only a pale reflection? Can human beings
