Legen ! Wheel well ,nii inlise kui ka eesti keeles .

Wheel well (rataskaev) This wheel well, first mentioned in 1375, was once one of the main sources of water for Tallinn. The legend says that: Citizen of the town believed that an evil spirit lives in the well and threatens to make all the town wells run dry if it doesn't get regular animal sacrifices. To keep the spirit happy people started to throw dead animals to the well. The main victims appeared to be cats living in the town who were tossed to the well sometimes even live. The practice was so common, that soon it was given a name "Cat's Well". Although the wells in town never ran try the water quality due to sacrifices got so bad that the well couldn't be used anymore from mid 19th century and the cats of the Old Town no longer lived in fear. purchasing a highly recommended one and double the expense. Also, a lot of enterprises and companies gain experience from recessions. They might suffer under lack of different resources for example financial and material crisis. However, if the company overcomes the recession, it gains an invaluable experience how to withstand crisis situations and how to cut balances, even though it might have come with certain sacrifices such as firing workers. In conclusion the recession could be a sort of a wake-up call to humanity to keep eyes on their spending and credit card balances and the same comes with companies a low tide is a positive side, if only one learns from it.

Capital Punishment should (not) be abolished

Capital Punishment should (not) be abolished Capital punishment has been an ancient way of punishment, which is thought to have started with blood feud and human sacrifices to gods. There are different points of views supporting or held against this sort of punishment. First of all, it is inhumane, primitive and brutal way of revenge, which is contradiction to the basic values of Christian Europe. What is more, it stands in the way of society progressing morally. With this sort of punishment county sets itself at the same level as the criminal and this may increase aggressiveness and lover the value of human life.

how different people find different things important. The film begins with Rita's arrival to the university, where she wants to discover herself and get educated before having children. There she also meets first time with her tutor Frank. Since the first time they meet, Rita knows that she wants Frank to be her tutor. Frank, however, finds that Rita is rare and unique. That is also the reason, why Frank did not want to teach Rita, he did not want her to change. Thanks to the efforts and sacrifices Rita is able to achieve what she was wanting. The film ends as Frank is sent to Australia and Rita realises that the life with education has the same problems. I think that this film is for everybody. It speaks about finding yourself and about desire to find and develope yourself, which can come anytime, at age 15 or at age 55. For kids under 15 it could be a bit difficult to understand because it is with deep thought.

really interesting and enthralling. I cant remember when it was shown, but I gess it was on Wednesday night at 10 pm on TV 3. The first season was filmed in the prison, and the second too. The tv serial is talking about the Michael and his brother Lincoln, who was simulated guilty and then he was sent to the prison. I like the most fourth , last episoode, because it's really sad and unpredictable too. On the last episode Michael knows, that he is going to die soon, and he sacrifices himself to his brother, wife and child. Michael isi n the prison, he has about 30 seconds to come out of the prison, the it blow's up. Sucre is a Michael's friend and he tries to help Michael and his brother. Sucre have to take the money to the bank, but he jääb a little bit late, and then the prison guard don't help them, and so Michael dies soon. At the end of the episode Sarah (Michael's wife) get a baby from Michael and she lives with Lincoln i guess, I'm not sure.:)

he was allowed neither in heaven nor in hell. With a lantern in his hand he began to search for a resting place on Earth. This was the original JackoLantern. Since Halloween came to America from Ireland (Scotland and Wales) people used pumpkins because they were bigger and easier to hollow out than turnips. During the centuries the cultures have added their own elements to the way Halloween is celebrated. Druids in Britain and Ireland would light bonfires, dance around them and offer sacrifices of animal and crops. The fires were also intended to give warmth to the households and to keep free from evil spirits. Through the ages these practices changed. Kids love dressing up for halloween. Estonia has also an alternative energy sources such as wood and peat. I could call myself earth friendly because I love walking around the forest and breading some fresh air but I do not like the knowing that somewhere else our own people are cutting down the trees and mining oil shale for eleritcity and warmth but I know that we need those two things to survive and it does not make any different if we cut the trees in Estonia or in Finland. There are some sacrifices people need to make to live on. We also have an excellent infrastructure in fact railway transport dominates the cargo sector, compromising 70% of all carried goods, domestic and international, approximately 7,5% of the country´s workforce is employed in transportation. The thing I am the most proud of is the information technology and telecommunication field. I could not imagine my life without such a good internet connection as it is in Estonia; it is one thing I use absolutely every day

she would get on much better with men like these. In many ways, she is a sensitive girl in her formative years, whose feelings fluctuate along with the values she assigns to the external world and objects. Also worth mentioning is the fact that when a nearby neighbor is killed she sympathizes the man with all her heart and intends to call off the garden party. However, her mother silences her by saying "You are being very absurd, Laura," she said coldly. "People like that don't expect sacrifices from us. And it's not very sympathetic to spoil everybody's enjoyment as you're doing now." True it is, that life has to go on and pleasure must serve a certain role even after someone dies, but Laura feels that this kind of action would be heartless and inappropriate. Her mother even tries to divert her attention with elegant hat, which she puts on Laura`s head and comments endlessly how it makes her beautiful. This

successful leader from the beginning of the Revolution, they could have been the most powerful and strong nation in the world today. They have also done a lot of harm to other nation and that is why they don't have very good relationships whit everyone else. I think if Russia wants to improve the situation in the country and help their people, they should get rid of Vladimir Putin. They should find a person who truly wants to help the nation and is willing to make sacrifices because of that. They need someone who would be able to communicate intelligently and improve the relationships with other nations. It seems like Putin only wants power and he doesn't want to acknowledge that all of his ideas are not great for the country. If it continues like that Russia might go back to cruel Communism times. For his remaining two decades, he endured constant pain and discomfort from a series of misdiagnosed stomach ailments. In his autobiography Something of Myself (1935) , Kipling makes no mention of his years of suffering, just as he also avoids mention of the other tragedies in his life. He continued to write, and to develop his art, right up until the end of his life. Peak of his career The first decade of the 20th century saw Kipling at the height of his popularity

All the store owners were Hispanics. Then I met a group of Bible-quoting African-Americans who identified with Joseph who was sold into slavery to the Pharaoh of Egypt and eventually became the saviour of the Jews in Egypt. Obviously, they felt that the salvation of Africa could possibly come from its sons and daughters in America. My reply was how, could you jump into a big ocean to rescue a drowning man, when you don’t even know how to swim yourself . I am mindful of the great sacrifices that African-Americans have made towards helping their brothers and sisters in Africa, but let’s face it, African-Amerians don’t have factories that manufacture guns, that manufacture ammunitions, that manufacture food/water containers for Africa’s militarily. They don’t have factories that manufacture telephone equipments or telephone receivers; they don’t have factories that manufacture the cables used in laying the telephone lines or the fibre-

T H E W R I T E R ' S JOURNEY ~ T H I R D EDITION Christopher Vogler SACRIFICE People commonly think of Heroes as strong or brave, but these qualities are second ary to sacrifice — the true mark of a Hero. Sacrifice is the Hero's willingness to give up something of value, perhaps even her own life, on behalf of an ideal or a group. Sacrifice means "making holy." In ancient times people made sacrifices, even of hu man beings, to acknowledge their debt to the spirit world, the gods, or nature, to appease those mighty forces, and to make holy the processes of daily life. Even death became sanctified, a holy act. DEALING W I T H DEATH At the heart of every story is a confrontation with death. political party, corporation, institution, sect, club, gang, football team. In some cases the personal ego seems to dissolve completely as someone dedicates his or her life to working selflessly for the greater good of the collective without demanding personal rewards, recognition, or aggrandizement. What a relief to be freed of the dreadful burden of personal self. The members of the collective feel happy and fulfilled, no matter how hard they work, how many sacrifices they make. They appear to have gone beyond ego. The question is: Have they truly become free, or has the ego simply shifted from the personal to the collective? A collective ego manifests the same characteristics as the personal ego, such as the need for conflict and enemies, the need for more, the need to be right against others who are wrong, and so on. Sooner or later, the collective will come into conflict with other collectives, because it

The only question was how many other people would be hurt before I reached it. The only solace, the only hope I had left, was knowing that I would see Edward soon. Maybe, if I could just see his face again, I would also be able to see the solution that eluded me now. When the phone rang, I returned to the front room, a little ashamed of my behavior. I hoped I hadn't offended either of them, that they would know how grateful I was for the sacrifices they were making on my account. Alice was talking as rapidly as ever, but what caught my attention was that, for the first time, Jasper was not in the room. I looked at the clock -- it was five-thirty in the morning. "They're just boarding their plane," Alice told me. "They'll land at nine-forty-five." Just a few more hours to keep breathing till he was here. "Where's Jasper?" "He went to check out." The Russians sent out their wireless in clear." The case was clear-cut. Interception of unenciphered communications had awarded the Germans their triumph. Tannenberg, which gave Russia the first push on her long slide into ruin and revolution, was the first battle in the history of the world to be decided by cryptologic failure. So inexhaustible were the manpower resources of Russia that not even a debacle like Tannenberg could cripple its war effort. "We are happy to make such sacrifices for our allies," replied the Grand Duke Nicholas, commander in chief of the Russian armies, when the French ambassador expressed his condolences. And even though the Germans turned on Rennenkampf and drove him out of East Prussia in the Battle of the Masurian Lakes, two Russian armies pounded the Austro- Hungarian forces back through Lvov with such force that they retreated almost to Krakow.
