HOUSE AND HOME tööleht

switched on. Bad taste? So what! How do the British people use the various rooms in their houses? In a house with two floors, the rooms upstairs are the ones used as bedrooms. The toilet (often separate) and bathroom are also usually upstairs. The living room and kitchen are downstairs. The latter is usually small, but those who have more space, often afford a ‘farmhouse kitchen’, big enough for the family to eat in. Class divisions are sometimes involved in the use for rooms. With living rooms, for example, the terms ‘sitting room’ and ‘drawing room’ are considered as upper- middle class, while ‘lounge’ is considered as lower class. Exercise 2. Find the corresponding English word from the text. Answer the questions in full sentences. (häda)vajalikkus must Sissejuurdunud Deep-rooted

Teacher's questions

I don't like dark colours. Dark colours are too dark for me. 2. What do you think of the colour scheme of your school? I think that my school is beautiful. My school has got quite good look. In the outside the school is light. But in the inside the schoolrooms are quite colourful. I don't like the gym colour scheme. I think that pink and blue are not very good choice. I think that it's quite funny. But other rooms are in normal colours. 3. If money where not a problem, what would your future home look like? There will be many changes in my home look. Mostly I will enlarge the rooms. I need more living space. The kitchen must be huge, because in huge kitchen is better to cook. And it's good to have own room. Maybe should build the second floor too. In decoration I will colour rooms light. Only the bedroom should be dark, because in dark is better sleep. 4. What makes a good home? I think that everybody's home is the best place in the world. You can always go there. It's good

.. Cynics will say that this is because English have no "cuisine" themselves, but this is not quite the true. Vocabulary: to criticize - tasteless overcooked - ingredient - to invent - sauces - to disguise - spice herb - delicious - disappointing - to lend cuisine British Youth (2) Most 18 and 19 year-olds in Britain are quite independent people. English people say that children grow up more quickly now. Relationships within the British family are different now. Children have more freedom to make their own decisions. For example, children aged 13 may be employed part time in Great Britain. Age 15 is legally a "young person" not a "child". Age 16 is a school leaving age. They can leave home, drive a moped, marry with "parents' consent" buy beer. Age 17 can drive a car. Age 18 can vote, get married, drink in pubs. Education is a very important part in the life of British youth. One can't become an independent person without it

could be better, becouse I don't like it. First of all, everyone dosen't have the opertunity and the money for a full lengh enducation. Global Problems I don't notice nature changes much. But what I have noticed is that there are a lot of cars that produce CO2 what are not good for nature. What troubles me is the over population. What it means is that more people born, and less die. The biggest risk is that there are not enough jobs and food. Most people don't care about the future of our planet. People should recycle( taaskasutama) everything. And shouldn't throw trash on the floor/streets. The consensuses are that a lot of animals die and forests too (die). Health and fitness I think that being healthy is very important for your body. Too be healthy you should jog a lot, eat healthy, get enough sleep and drink enough water. A lot of women spend a lot of time on their body to be in fit because they want to be liked (meeldima).

Jane Austen

are slighted by other men. You had better return to your partner and enjoy her smiles, for you are wasting your time with me." Mr. Bingley followed his advice. Mr. Darcy walked off; and Elizabeth remained with no very cordial feelings toward him. She told the story, however, with great spirit among her friends; for she had a lively, playful disposition, which delighted in anything ridiculous. The evening altogether passed off pleasantly to the whole family. Mrs. Bennet had seen her eldest daughter much admired by the Netherfield party. Mr. Bingley had danced with her twice, and she had been distinguished by his sisters. Jane was as much gratified by this as her mother could be, though in a quieter way. Elizabeth felt Jane's pleasure. Mary had heard herself mentioned to Miss Bingley as the most accomplished girl in the neighbourhood; and Catherine and Lydia had been fortunate enough never to be without
