Common Kingfisher - Jäälind

It prefers rivers with bushes and trees at the riverside. In the mountains it can live near the lakes up to 2km high. Common Kingfisher breeds 6-7 eggs a time for 19-21 days. Only mother feeds the birds, although father is always nearby. After breeding time the relationship between parents ends and they break up. Common Kingfisher eats mostly fish, whose length does not exceed 6cm. It also eats bugs and other spinelesses, especially dragonfly babys. Very rarely it also eats tiny frogs. Common Kingfighter gets its food as far as 1km from nest. When hunting for food, Common Kingfisher often sits still moveless over the water and monitors the catch. When the catch is near, Kingfisher goes for it. When it spots the catch, it dives into water, grabs the fish and carries it to the nest or goes to hunt for more fish.

Retelling the Aboriginal people

2. The earliest inhabitants The earliest humans living in Australia are called Aborigines and they are descended (pärinevad) from among the earliest humans in the world. For thousands of years Aborigines lived as hunter-gatherers along the coast and in the inland desert areas, following the same lifestyle as their ancestors. 3. Finding food and water Aboriginal tribes obtained water from trees and roots and even squeezed water out of the bodies of frogs. Women collected anything that grew or moved, including fruit, lizards, snakes, roots, grass, etc. Their skill in finding food even in the most extreme conditions often kept the whole group alive. 4. Hunting Large mammals, now extinct (väljasurnud), roamed some areas (hulkusid mingitel aladel) of Australia and provided (andsid) meat for the aboriginal hunters. Other areas were richer in vegetable food, but there was no organised agriculture or domesticated animals. Food

Temperate deciduous forests, woodlands and shrub

Mammals that can be found include bears, raccoons, squirrels, skunks, wood mice, and deer. Animals like bobcats, elk, bison, mountain lions, timberwolves, and coyotes used to be found in the deciduous forests, but have been hunted down by humans and almost wiped out. Melting snow in spring and rain during summer provide water for streams and ponds. Many water birds, insects, and fishes are found in this biome, along with amphibians such as frogs and salamanders, and reptiles such as lizards and small snakes. The platypus lives in the temperate forests of Australia. Animal Adaptations: The animals have developed different ways of surviving in this biome. Many of them migrate to warmer places to escape the cold winter months, while others hibernate (sleep) through the winter when food is scarce. Some animals such as squirrels, chipmunks and jays store food when it is plentiful, using hollows of trees as storehouses for nuts and seeds

Plants and animal life: For millions of years New Zealand has been isolated and unique birds, animals and plants have developed here. Best known are flightless birds such as the Kiwi. Because there were no ground based enemies for ancient birds many lost there ability to fly with the passage of time. Lizards, frogs, and bats are the only indigenous land animals in New Zealand. Dogs (kiri) and rats were introduced by the Maori, and red and fallow deer, trout, salmon, Australian opossum, rabbits, and domestic animals have been introduced over the last 150 years by European settlers. There are now strict regulations with very heavy penalties against the importing of plants, fruit and animals unless approved by the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries to protect the New Zealand environment. Acid Rain

Acid deposition may influence forest vegetation and soils. It removes soil nutrients such as calcium and magnesium from soils in high elevation forests. Acid rain may also help weaken natural defenses of some trees, making them more vulnerable to some diseases and pests. Acid rain wears away the waxy protective coating of leaves, damaging them and preventing them from being able to photosynthesize properly. Many animals and insects are sensitive to acidification. Frogs are relatively tolerant of low pH, but the insects upon which they feed are not. Lichens, mosses and fungi are also particularly sensitive to acid deposition. Acid rain may lead to increases in nitrogen in forests. Nitrogen is important plant nutrient, but it some situations it leads to nitrogen saturation. Nitrates can remove additional calcium and magnesium from the soils. Social effects Humans can become seriously ill, even die from the effects of acid rain

I don't wish to be everything to everyone, but I would like to be something to someone. Without friendship life has no sweetness. Life is a journey and love is what makes the journey worthwhile. One loyal friend is worth ten thousand relatives. Good friends are angels on earth. If you see someone without smile, give them one of yours. True friends fill your life with joy, your soul with sunshine and your heart with love. You have to kiss a lot of frogs before you meet your prince. Many people walk in and out of our lives, only true friends will leave footprints in our hearts. Tears are words from heart that cant be spoken. Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that takes our breath away! La vita e bella - elu on ilus :D Never say never. Teach me laughter, save my soul! Only when the last tree is death, the last river dammed and the last field paved over will we realize we can´t eat money !!

biological control. This technique demands utmost caution and thorough study, as it could go all wrong, if not managed properly. It is very difficult to pick a side in the debate regarding intensive farming. While it is true that agricultural intensification is necessary to meet the ever-increasing population growth, it is also true that intensive use of chemical fertilizers will largely affect the health of human beings, plants, fish, honey bees, frogs, birds, and livestock. There is a tug-of-war between the animal rights activists and farmers of intensive farming. However, the debate is still ongoing, but we hope to see some new inventions or improvements in the near future. In some areas, mostly inland, there was always a shortage of water and it was even deadly for some people. However, Aborigines were tough and got the water from certain trees and roots. They even squeezed some water out of frogs. In the desert areas, Aborigines traveled a lot because there was not much food, but in coastal areas, people were relatively static because there was enough food for everybody. Nevertheless, those Aborigines, who had to be mobile, had to have mobile belongings, like the coolamon, which was a curved wooden dish used to dig, to carry water or a baby, to toss seeds or collect the plant food. However, the Aborigines were very clever in making things out of noting, like fishing lines for example

Courses taught as lecture courses tend to induce passivity. Indoor classes create the illusion that learning only occurs inside four walls isolated from what students call without apparent irony the "real world." Dissecting frogs in biology classes teaches lessons about nature that no one would verbally profess. Campus architecture is crystallized pedagogy that often reinforces passivity, monologue, domination, and artificiality. My point is simply that students are being taught in various and subtle ways beyond the content of courses. The ruler of the island, Kaspar, has his own theme, commanding and vigorous: Example 194. The Mermaid is a fantastic figure, unearthly, frail and pure: Example 195. At the end of the ballet there is a scene of metamorphosis as all the nobles on the island are transformed into frogs and perish: Example 196. The characterisation of the main heroes is well realized, as are the sound pictures of the calm sea. As for the other characters they seem less well formed. Compared to the ballet music by Tamberg, the lack of polished solo numbers is felt. The orchestration exhibits a strong sense of colour and detail, all the woodwinds are used and the electronic and ‘colour’ instruments. Merineitsi is among the most colourful Estonian ballets

few words do actually stand for things in the world. For another, if all words were like proper names, serving just to pick out individual things, we would not be able to form grammatical sentences in the first place. Meaning and understanding Not many people know that, in 1931, Adolf Hitler made a visit to the United States, in the course of which he did some sightseeing, had a brief affair with a lady named Maxine in Keokuk, Iowa, tried peyote (which caused him to hal- lucinate hordes of frogs and toads wearing little boots and singing the Horst Wessel Lied), infiltrated a munitions plant near Detroit, met secretly with Vice-President Curtis regarding sealskin futures, and invented the electric can opener. There is a good reason why not many people know all that: none of it is true. But the remarkable thing is that just now, as you read through my opening sentence--let us call it sentence (1)--you understood it perfectly,
