Mistake

I think that one of the biggest mistakes I have recently made was that I did not do any revision before going to the entrance examinations to get into Hugo Treffner’s high school. It all started in February after I had submitted my request to Hugo Treffner’s high school’s entrance examinations. I promised to myself that I will spend at least half an hour a day to revise all the things I had learned in primary school. I had always dreamed of studying there. During the first week I could almost keep my promise and spent the time I wanted to spend on revising, but after that I got very lazy and did not keep up with my revising at all. So time went by and I did not worry at all about the entrance exams until the day they were already there

On the upper, defence floors the guns were rigged in embrasures that were provided with niches for the logs that served to stop the backlash. The floors of the embrasures were initially stepped to enable the men handle the guns better. The fireplaces on every floor were needed to get fire for the firearms.

" The old woman picked up a duster, scraped the cupboard, swept the flour bin and gathered about two handfuls of flour. She mixed the dough with sour cream, fried it in butter, and put the rolling bun on the window sill to cool. The rolling bun lay and lay there. Suddenly it rolled off the window sill to the bench, from the bench to the floor, from the floor to the door. Then it rolled over the threshold to the entrance hall, from the entrance hall to the porch, from the porch to the courtyard, from the courtyard through the gate and on and on. The rolling bun rolled along the road and met a hare. "Little rolling bun, little rolling bun, I shall eat you up!" said the hare. "Don't eat me, slant-eyed hare! Enquiry for joining The Gifted an Talented Development Centre 20 October 2009-10-20 Dear Sir or Madam I am writing to enquire information about GTDC. I am 17-year-old school student and I have always been interested in joining with The Gifted and Talented Development Centre. I would be grateful if you could answer some questions, as the curriculum of the school was rather brief. First of all, I would like to know what are the requirements to perform entrance tests and what subjects they are. I also wonder what are the facilities of e-learing and how much they cost. If there are e-learing facilities then I would like to know how can i register myself. Finally, I would like to know what are the benefits of graduation. I have heard that all the students who graduate will get guaranteed jobs unfortunately I think that this is just a rumor due to economic crisis. I am looking forward to receiving your reply. Yours faithfully,

Churches in Tartu

Churches in Tartu There are about 29 churches in Tartu. Some of them look like modern churches, but a large part of them are old ones. Here is Tartu St. John’s or Jaani church. Tartu St. John's Church, which was built in the 14th century in Gothic style, is one of the oldest in Estonia; moreover, it is unique in Europe due to its many original terracotta sculptures. Numbering around a thousand, these 700- year old sculptures were largely hidden till the 1950's. The entrance to the church is free, but if you're looking for more than old sculptures, a view, then it costs. Access to the viewing platform costs 2 euro per adult and 1.50 euro per student. Rivalling St. John's Church as Tartu's most impressive, St. Peter's church, located over the river, is a red- bricked, pseudo-Gothic. It was built in 1884, allowing it to seat up to 3,000 people. The large altar painting was created by Estonia's artist, Johann Köler, in 1897. St. Paul's Church is located along Riia

Estonian sculptors, has been standing for several decades. Lai Street stretches from Nunne Street to Pikk Street. Parallel with Pikk Street, Lai Street, too, ends at the Great Coast Gate (first mentioned 1359). Lai Street is very wide considering that it was laid out in the Middle Ages. This is because it sprang up on both sides of former city wall. Lai is quite a peaceful street with few shops. However, it has three museums and two theatres. The main entrance into St Olaf´s Church also faces the street. Several Lai Street houses have kept their Gothic appearance and even interiors, although we can also notice moderate Nordic Baroque, Neoclassicicm, Historicism and even Art Nouveau. The origin of the name "Lai" Lai Street belongs among the oldest streets of Tallinn. Despite its length and width its share in the city's inner traffic is fairly modest. Independence didn’t last long, however, and the fledgling nation fell first to the Nazis and then the Soviets during World War II. Despite all this conquering, Tallinn’s historic core has survived remarkably intact. Much of the 14th century city wall still stands, including a couple of stretches where you can climb the narrow spiral staircases of the towers and end up on the medieval catwalk. The Viru Gates, flanked by thin pointed towers from the 14th century, makes a nice entrance into Old Town. Dominating the town atop Toompea Hill is Toompea Castle and Pikk Hermann Tower. It was used as the center of government since 1229 and is now the site of Estonia’s parliament. Nearby stands the inappropriately named Maiden’s Tower that used to house a prison for prostitutes. There are several interesting old houses of worship. The oldest is the atmospheric and very chilly Dominican Monastery from 1246. There is also The

Bedloe's Island. ● They made an fundraiser to get the money to build The Statue of Liberty ● It was an gift from the French ● In France they have the original, but smaller. ● At the beginning it was used as an lighthouse, due to the similiarities to an ancient bronze statue of the Greek god of the sun, Helios. This statue is believed to have been over 100 feet (30 m) high, and it similarly stood at a harbor entrance and carried a light to guide ships. ● In 1875, Laboulaye proposed that the French finance the statue and the Americans provide the site and build the pedestal. Bartholdi completed the head and the torch-bearing arm before the statue was fully designed, and these pieces were exhibited for publicity at international expositions.

Kolosseum

By the 2nd century BC the area was densely inhabited. It was devastated by the Great Fire of Rome in AD 64, following which Nero seized much of the area to add to his personal domain. He built the grandiose Domus Aurea on the site, in front of which he created an artificial lake surrounded by pavilions, gardens and porticoes. The existing Aqua Claudia aqueduct was extended to supply water to the area and the gigantic bronze Colossus of Nero was set up nearby at the entrance to the Domus Aurea.Although the Colossus was preserved, much of the Domus Aurea was torn down. The lake was filled in and the land reused as the location for the new Flavian Amphitheatre. Gladiatorial schools and other support buildings were constructed nearby within the former grounds of the Domus Aurea. According to a reconstructed inscription found on the site, "the emperor Vespasian ordered this new amphitheatre to be erected from his general's share of the booty

end. The projecting main floor was supported on an arcade, allowing the first-floor rooms to be built much more spacious. The Town Hall acquired the architectural appearance it has today. Rough copies of the city's calculations of the building work survive in the archives and so it is possible to closely follow the progress of construction. Even the amount of building materials has been recorded. In the 17th century the Town Hall acquired a new, Late Renaissance spire. In 165052 the main entrance was moved to the middle of the building, characteristic of the baroque age, and the main portal was closed. The arcade that earlier enhanced the stateliness and individuality of the Town Hall as well as the windows of the basement and the ground floor were walled up. Partitions were built into the Citizens' Hall, turning its space into several separate rooms. A lot of the medieval architecture of the Town Hall was destroyed or distorted in the course of that reconstruction.

Giza Pyramid

Giza's Materials The Great Pyramid consists of more than 2.3 million limestone blocks. The Egyptians got the majority of the limestone blocks from a nearby quarry. The Tufa limestone, used for the casing, was quarried across the river. The largest granite stones in the pyramid, found in the "King's" chamber, weigh up to 80 tonnes and were transported more than 900 kilometers away from Aswan. King's Chamber At the end of the lengthy series of entrance ways leading into the interior is the structure's main chamber, the King's Chamber. The sarcophagus of the King's Chamber was hollowed out of a single piece of Red Aswan granite and has been found to be too large to fit through the passageway leading to the chamber. Whether the sarcophagus was ever intended to house a body is unknown, and no lid has ever been found. The King's Chamber is lined with red granite brought from Aswan. Famous castles of Scotland

This formed an irregular 'X-plan' shape, an unusual layout also seen at Hermitage Castle. Only the north-east corner tower survives to its former height, as well as the basement of the south-east tower. The two western towers were destroyed in the 15th century and never rebuilt, repairs in the 19th century have obscured even the remains of these. The main body of the castle measures about 19m by 12m, with walls up to 3.7m thick, and the north-east tower is around 6m square. The entrance is on the north side, adjacent to the north-east tower, and defended by a portcullis and two doors. A straight mural stair leads up to the right, while ahead is a barrel-vaulted basement with slit windows and a well. The hall is at first-floor level, and was also vaulted, rising to 8.3m high. A turnpike stair in the south-east corner gave access to another storey above the hall, as well as upper rooms in the eastern towers. The towers had one room on each floor

Soldiers, not a babysitter. The child on his arms seemed so helpless...so innocent... And then he decided something that a few hours ago he`d never do: he will keep the child and raise it to be a worthy worrior who`d once destroy all of the ishues and free this country from the Demons. And so, the baby still asleep, he left the ruins of what was called a city once and moved towards east, where the Royal Palace was situated. By midday he finally reached the White Wall, where was a secret entrance to the Palace`s main hall. The gate keepers waved sleepily when he passed them. The young man decided not to disturb them so he went on in total silence. Soon he reached the main hall, but his leader, captain Jacques, wasn't there as he had expected. "Well, now that is quite problematic..."he claimed to the sleeping baby, "Interesting, what would your mother do in a situation like this?" But the child was too small to give him an answer.
