million, opened to traffic on May 28, 1937 at twelve o'clock noon. One of the most interesting Golden Gate Bridge fact is that only eleven workers died during construction, a new safety record for the time. One of the bridge's safety innovations was a net suspended under the floor. This net saved the lives of 19 men during construction . There are also 128 lights installed on the bridge roadway. It makes it beautiful at night-time. The avarage crossings are about 41 million per year, counting both north- and south crossings. The Golden Gate Bridge's paint color is orange vermillion, also called international orange. Architect Irving Morrow selected the color because it blends with the bridge's setting. People say that it is a must see for anyone who visits san francisco and it is the best bridge in America. I would really love to cross that bridge. I think it would be an amazing experience.

would survive to adulthood. Many would simply lose their mothers in densely packed sea of animals, and fall easy (E) prey to predators. Often a new-born calf would become separated from its mother before it had learned to recognise her. Then the infant would attach itself to anything that moved, sometimes even (F) tottering hopefully towards a waiting lion. When the great migration began, many more youngsters would be swept away and drowned during the massed river crossings, dragged down by crocodiles or trampled beneath the (G) frantic press of bodies from which others would emerge (H) hobbling on broken limbs to await the inevitable hyenas. And always there were the ravenous hunters; the packs of brindled wild dogs whose sudden appearance, (I) loping over the dawn horizons, threw the herds into headlong panic; the rangy cheetahs with their devastating (J) stride; and the ever-watchful prides of lions through whose territories the wildebeest would have to pass.

World Heritage listing. Other fine bridges survive in Iran, such as the Bridge of Khaju at Isfahan (1667), with eighteen pointed arches, carrying an 85ft (26m) wide roadway with walled, shaded passageways, flanked by pavilions and watch towers. This magnificent bridge, combining architecture and engineering in splendid functional harmony, also served as a dam, and included a hostelry where travellers found cool rooms for rest and refreshment after hot desert crossings (Figure 3). Picturesque bridges, such as the Kintaikyo at Iwakuni (1673), with its five wooden arches intricately wedged, slotted, and dovetailed together, are found in Japan. The superstructure of this bridge has been rebuilt for centuries (the central three arches every 18- 22 years, and the side spans every 36 years), maintaining the fine craft tradition of the bridge keepers for centuries (Figure 4). capital of Timbuktu. Yes, I am constrained to agree that these were great legacies that our ancestors left us, but one cannot deny the fact that in the middle Passage of the 19th century we stopped functioning as a people with intelligence and the instinct to defend ourselves. In the 17th century, more than 36 million African men and women were taken into slavery and to the shores of America. Of that 36 million, more than 18 million died in the Trans-Atlantic crossings. Listen, don’t get me wrong. We are talking of over 36 million African men and women who were rounded up by a handful of Caucasians and our ancestors could not do much to stop the onslaught. This is just a small group of Caucasian men coming into our midst and we ran helter-skelter, without any much defence to stop the rape and incarceration of our Kings and Queens. Am I supposed to take delight in telling this

THRESHOLD GUARDIANS As you approach the threshold you're likely to encounter beings who try to block your way. T h e y are called Threshold Guardians, a powerful and useful archetype. T h e y may pop up to block the way and test the hero at any point in a story, but they tend to cluster around the doorways, gates, and narrow passages of threshold crossings. Axel Foley's Detroit police captain, who firmly forbids h i m from getting involved in the investigation of the murder, is one such figure. Threshold Guardians are part of the training of any hero. In Greek myth, the three-headed monster dog Cerberus guards the entrance to the underworld, and many a hero has had to figure out a way past his jaws. Burmillas are Chinchilla /Burmese crosses. Subsequent Burmilla-to-Burmilla matings may produce longhair kittens due to a recessive gene. These are known as the Australian Tiffanie. Oriental-Type and Abyssinian-Type Semi-Longhairs The British Angora is known elsewhere as Javanese (reflecting its links to the Balinese), Oriental Longhair and Mandarin. It may also have been the ancestor of the American Tiffany/Chantilly. It was developed from Abyssinian/Siamese crossings in 1973 which produced a chocolate brown longhair with white roots to his fur although he was not genetically a smoke. In 1974 it was remarked that he resembled the old Angora cats. The breeding programme progressed slowly until it was recognised in 1983. In 1984 it was decided that the Turkish Angora and the British "Angora" were 2 distinct breeds. The British "Angora" was improved to have true Oriental type and in 1989 the Cat Association decided
