It includes traditional Maori art, which was developed in New Zealand from Polynesian artforms, and more recent forms which take their inspiration from Maori, European and other traditions. Maori visual art consists primarily of four forms: carving, tattooing (ta moko), weaving and painting. Ta moko is the art of traditional Maori tattooing, done with a chisel. Carving was done in three media: wood, bone, and stone. Arguably ta moko was another form of carving. Weaving was used to create numerous things, including wall panels in meeting houses and other important buildings, as well as clothing and bags. Although the oldest forms of Maori art are rock paintings, in 'classical' Maori art, painting was not an important art form

Dear Meg Thanks a lot for your letter. It was so interesting to hear about English traditions. I wrote about an Estonian holiday. Halloween, or Hallowe'en, is a holiday celebrated on the night of October 31.Halloween activities include trick-or-treating, ghost tours, bonfires, costume parties, visiting "haunted houses" and carving jack-o-lanterns. The term Halloweenis shortened from All-hallow-even, as it is the eve of "All Hallows' Day", which is now also known as All Saints' Day. Irish and Scottish immigrants carried versions of the tradition to North America in the nineteenth century. Other western countries embraced the holiday in the late twentieth century. Halloween is celebrated in several parts of the Western world, most commonly in Ireland, the United States, Canada, Puerto Rico and the United

" Children today usually do not play tricks if they do not get treats. However, some children still get up to mischief (pranks or things to make fun of people; like putting toilet paper in trees; writing on windows with soap or throwing eggs at peoples' houses). People sometimes dress up as ghosts, witches, goblins and other scary things for Halloween. A jack-o-lantern is typically a carved pumpkin. It is associated chiefly with the holiday of Halloween. The tradition of carving a lantern started in the British Isles however, it was traditionally carved out of a turnip. They were created on All Hallows' Eve and left on the door step to ward off evil spirits. An offering or, as we now know it, a "treat", would also be commonly left to placate roaming sprites and evil spirit. Halloween's origins date back to the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain. Moore made many preparatory sketches and drawings for each sculpture. Most of these sketchbooks have survived and provide insight into Moore's development. He placed great importance on drawing; even when he had arthritis, he still was able to draw. After the Second World War, Moore's bronzes took on their larger scale, which was particularly suited for public art commissions. As a matter of practicality, he largely abandoned direct carving, and took on several assistants to help produce maquettes. By the end of the 1940s, he produced sculptures increasingly by modelling, working out the shape in clay or plaster before casting the final work in bronze using the lost wax technique. At his home in Much Hadham, Moore built up a collection of natural objects; skulls, driftwood, pebbles, rocks and shells, which he would use to provide inspiration for organic forms

The most common example of Anglo-Saxon art is coins, with thousands of examples extant. Anglo-Saxon artists also worked in fresco, ivory, stone carving, metalwork and enamel, but few of these pieces had survived. Literature Anglo-Saxon literary works include genres such as epic poetry, hagiography, sermons, Bible translations, legal works, chronicles, riddles, and others.
