However, Quino is killed by a gangster on a roof, and Campa is killed when he runs out of ammo. El and Carolina kill the last man, Bucho's second in command, by running him over. El angrily heads to Bucho's ranch to settle the conflict. They arrive and find themselves surrounded, but Bucho calls his men off. It is then revealed that El and Bucho are brothers; this being why El did not kill Bucho earlier. Bucho, however, angry at Carolina's betrayal, tells El to put his hands up while he kills Carolina and that they will then be even for El killing his men. El, unable to bear another love's death, ejects his pistols from his sleeves as he did earlier in the bar, and shoots Bucho multiple times in the chest at point blank range. El then leaves, telling Carolina that he will thank her someday. Later, as he walks down the road, trying to get a ride, Carolina drives up and tells El to thank her right now. He throws his guitar

only politics. First of all humans are in a constant need of power. The essence of the power does not even matter as long as they have some kind of control. It could be control over some group, over a person and his mind, actions and thoughts or just over a certain situation where we want to gain a higher role so everything could be under their command. People are willing to do everything to get others under their control. In "Animal Farm" Napoleon's first act to gain his leadership was the betrayal of his fellow leader and friend Snowball. Napoleon and Snowball did not agree on their views of leading the farm and Napoleon, who could not deal with divided power, drove Snowball away. So do humans nowadays. The moment they feel threatened by others' support for someone else's ideas, views and power, a certain protective reflex pushes them to defend and fight for their position. Humans are too selfish, self-centered and egoistic to share their desired position with someone else.

During this time the public's love affair with Kipling ended, a trend that was hastened by the increasing harshness of his views. He became a much caricatured figure in the press, whilst the public became tired of constant exhortations. Kipling left South Africa in disgust when the Liberals came to power in Britain, and, as he saw it, destroyed all that had been gained in the Boer war. Until the end of his life, Kipling's world view would be distorted by the paranoid belief that conspiracy and betrayal were everywhere in public life. World War One proved a bracing diversion for the embittered Kipling, who had long predicted that Germany's rivalry with Britain would result in conflict, and who positively revelled in patriotic occasions. He urged his son John to join up, even using his influence to secure the boy a commission. Tragedy ensued when John Kipling disappeared in action only a month after his arrival.

"(Roberts, 1989, p.18) Moreover, in 1978 Thomas crow, an American art historian, published an article which revived the historical dispute about David's intentions with his Horatii. Crow claimed that Horatii was definitely a prerevolutionary painting and that Ettlinger's idea of Horatii being republican is false. (Roberts, 1989, p.19) In 1781 David exhibited his painting Belisarius, which was based on a legend of Belisarius, who was a victorious and noble military general falsely accused of betrayal. (Rosenblum, Woldemar, 1984, p.25) Same misfortune happened to one general in France: "The legend was especially popular in the late eighteenth century, not only because of its dramatic ingredient of grim misfortune, but because it offered a historical counterpart to the contemporary scandal of a French general, the Count de Lally, who, after mismanaging a French expedition to India, was wrongly convicted of treason and executed in 1766, but then

When he eventually figures out who Hester's lover was, he begins to torture Dimmesdale in such a way that he does not know he is being tortured. Chilingworth's emotions rule him, his single minded pursuit of revenge overtakes him. He is supposed to be a scholar, a man of reason. Revenge for the betrayal of Hester is the driving force in his life. The actual torture he inflicts is purely mental, and is successful in breaking Dimmesdale's body and soul down. him and make h i m sympathetic: his vulnerability to Kryptonite, his inability to see through lead, and his secret identity which is always in danger of being exposed. W O U N D E D HEROES Sometimes a hero may seem to be well-adjusted and in control, but that control masks a deep psychic wound. M o s t of us have some old pain or hurt that we don't think about all the time, but which is always vulnerable on some level of awareness. These wounds of rejection, betrayal, or disappointment are personal echoes of a universal pain that everyone has suffered from: the pain of the child's physical and emotional separation from its mother. In a larger sense, we all bear the wound of separation from God or the womb of existence — that place from which we are born and to which we will return when we die. Like A d a m and Eve cast out of Eden, we are forever separate from our source, isolated and wounded.

Though the message as published in the papers did not carry either BernstorfFs heading or his serial number, it did bear the significant date January 19. "Please cable in same cipher," the Foreign Office purred at a quivering Eckardt, who had already tried to blame Bernstorff for the betrayal, "who deciphered cable dispatches 1 [the Zimmermann telegram] and 11 [ordering Eckardt to negotiate at once for the proposed alliance], how the originals and decodes were kept, and, in particular, whether both dispatches were kept in the same place." Six days later, it picked up the clue that Hall had carefully planted: "Various indications suggest that the treachery was committed in Mexico. The greatest caution is indicated. His plane was ten minutes early. I had no more time. "I think I'll eat now," I said quickly. Alice stood. "I'll come with you." "Do you mind if Jasper comes instead?" I asked. "I'm feeling a little..." I didn't finish the sentence. My eyes were wild enough to convey what I didn't say. Jasper stood up. Alice's eyes were confused, but -- I saw to my relief-- not suspicious. She must be attributing the change in her vision to some maneuver of the tracker's rather than a betrayal by me. Jasper walked silently beside me, his hand on the small of my back, as if he were guiding me. I pretended a lack of interest in the first few airport cafes, my head scanning for what I really wanted. And there it was, around the corner, out of Alice's sharp sight: the level-three ladies' room. "Do you mind?" I asked Jasper as we passed. "I'll just be a moment." "I'll be right here," he said. As soon as the door shut behind me, I was running. I remembered the time I had gotten lost from
