Ärkamisaeg Mis on ärkamisaeg eesti kultuuris? Pärisorjuse kaotamine ning 1860. aastail alanud talude päriseksostmine andis eestlastele võimaluse majanduslikuks ja kultuuriliseks edenemiseks. Kasvas eestlaste rahvaarv. ...

"People can live one hundred years without really living a minute" Some people live a very long life but living a long life doesn't always mean a great life. Actions in your life are what will make your life truly amazing. First of all, when you live so many years without really doing something memorable, then what's the point. Life is all about challenges and adventures. They will make you wiser and you will have more things to remember. I think when you're finally old, it's great to look back and see what a wonderful life you've lived. On the other hand, some people are okay with just being and not doing something wonderful. They like their lifes just the way they are. They are happy with that comfortable position. Sometimes it's risky to take challenges. You'll never know what will happen and that can be very frightening sometimes.

Film review A film I have enjoyed recently is The Beach. What made me want to see it was the title first of all, and I also heard that my favourite actor Leonardo Di Caprio plays in that film. It was directed by Danny Boyle and it stars two young actors, Leonardo Di Caprio and Robert Carlyle. The film is set in Thailand. The main character is a young American man who travels to Thailand in search of the perfect vacation. During a stay in Bangkok, he meets a mysterious man who tells him about a secret beach. Richard then heads for southern Thailand in search of the island. Along the way, he meets a young French couple, Françoise and Étienne and he shares the secret of the island with them. The three then start to find the island and finally they get there. Heading further inland, they find a hidden beach where a small clan of travellers has settled. After their arri...

Is it just all about getting away from home or something more? The person who has seen the world has more knowledge about the things going on elsewhere. From a personal standpoint, travelling is one of the ways how to accomplish themselves, for example some people go abroad only with a packback just to see if they could live without fancy hotels and only little cash in their pockets. On the other hand, it might get really hard to get food and shelter but young people like adventures. The second reason, why so many young people travel to other countries is that they want to become an exchange student. This also includes very much travelling and seeing the land. Unfortunately, it might be a sad travel because of missing their family. From a religious and historical point of view, it can be said that travelling can be really helpful if it comes to gaining knowledge about the history of the country where a person is staying at

The school holiday – time for new challenges and adventures Changes and challenges can come in many forms. An holiday is the perfect place to try something new, to push yourself to a new limit and realise your dreams. You can do something that you've never tried before, like going to new places or take part of the adventure games. You can go to the gym or run every day 5 km. I like to go hiking in the woods or just take a daytrip to a city where I have never been before.

Mina kuulasin läbi Marilyn Mansoni albumi ''Eat me, Drink me''. Kogu album kestab kokku 52 minutit. Antud plaat on saanud inspiratsiooni Lewis Carroll'i raamatust ''Alice imedemaal'' . Albumi pealkiri on tulnud sellest, kuidas Alice leidis pudeli, mille peale oli kirjutatud ''Joo mind!'' ning hiljem leidis koogi, mille juures oli silt ''Söö mind!''. (''Eat me, Drink me'', Wikipedia, 15.09.2011); (''Alice's Adventures in Wonderland'', Wikipedia, 15.09.2011) ''See on nii sünge muusika,'' ütles ema mu toast mööda kõndides, kui kuulasin seda plaati.

titles may have vastly different meanings. For many, when hearing the word tourist, a stereotypical picture comes to mind: a person with cargo shorts, a hawaiian shirt, a huge hat and sunglasses with a camera around their neck and map in hand. That is rather common amongst tourists, wearing what’s comfortable and they’d wear at home and not putting much effort into blending in. Their trips are usually planned to the T, leaving no room for any spontaneous adventures that might come up along the way. They tend to only see the ‘must see’ tourist attractions, stay in a good hotels overall sticking to all the amenities that are similar to home. A traveller however is different. Generally speaking, a person who considers themselves a traveller, will try to immerse in the local culture as much as possible. They make an effort to learn some of the language and speak to locals to find out about the history, traditions and customs of the country
When I finally arrived I had already given up hope. I was suprised by a secretary who greeted me with a smile and said she was happy that I had received her message about the one-hour-delay of the interview. But I didn't have my cellphone with me, so I wasn't able to read that message! It turned out that the people in that company were all very kind and they gave me the possibility for a one-day work trial. When I had finished the day I left as a new employee. When I thought about the day's adventures, I smiled. Everything had come out right in the end.

Scent of a Woman is the story of Frank Slade, a blind, retired army colonel who hires Charlie Simms, a poor college student on the verge of expulsion, to take care of him over Thanksgiving weekend. At the beginning of the weekend, Frank takes Charlie to New York, where he reveals to the student that he intends to visit his family, have a few terrific meals, sleep with a beautiful woman and, finally, commit suicide. Over the weekend, as they learn about life through their series of adventures, they start trusting eachother. Two absolute favourite scenes: The first is in the New York ballroom where the blind Lt. Colonel teaches a lady to dance the tango. It is so smooth and dramatic that even a couch potato is tempted to dance along. The second and most profound is the speech that Al Pacino makes in defense of Charlie at the prep school disciplinary hearing. It has to go down as one of the great orations of all times. I also love the ferrari scene, where Charlie

almost consistently so), I would like the book better. Most of the movies that were based on books like Pride and Prejudice, Harry Potter, and the more recent Marley and Me and multiple award- winning Slumdog Millionaire for example, fell short to its namesake. While they were no doubt entertaining films, fans of the book would have expected more and so would I. The book had a depth and a feeling, that was to me, lost in the movie. Page after page, I was riveted. His mis- adventures were more real, more painful, more lonely somehow - even though he was all of that in the movie too. His ambition was driven by more than love. And through all his life, his personality shone through. He was earnest, street-wise, innocent, likeable, and always, unassumingly profound. He learned from his experiences, but was prone to making the same mistakes. And I ended the book, feeling like I have lived a thousand lives. The movie just ended with a signature Bollywood song and dance.
