https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y3kpzuk1Y8I Biography of Cormac McCarthy Cormac McCarthy was born and raised in Rhode Island on July 20, 1933. He
was originally named Charles, but he decided to change his name to Cormac
after the Irish King. Cormac was raised Roman Catholic. He attended Catholic
High School in Knoxville, then went to the University of Tennessee in 1951-52.
His major was liberal arts. He also served the U.S. Air Force for four years.
After leaving the university twice, he headed to Chicago, where he worked,
apparently as an auto mechanic, while writing his first novel, The Orchard
Keeper. After travelling for quite a while, he settled on the island of Ibiza. Some
say that the island of Ibiza was an artist colony. There, McCarthy finished
revisions of Outer Dark, his second novel. After some years, he moved back to
the USA, into a barn, which McCarthy renovated himself. McCarthy had lots of
adventures throughout his writing career. He has written 10 novels altogether.
Most of them only have positive reviews. His best one, All the Pretty Horses,
was published in 1992 and won the National Book Award. In this video, I will
give a short overview and analysis of his latest novel, The Road. Summary The Road, a novel published in 2006, is a post-apocalyptic novel. The book
details the gruelling journey of a father and his young son for several months
across a landscape blasted by an unspecified cataclysm that has destroyed
industrial civilization and almost all life. The story is of course set in the United
States, like most post-apocalyptic novels. The boy and his father travel on foot
to the southern coast, seeking a warmer climate in which to live out their days.
The boy has never seen real nature, as he was born on this Earth before the
events that led to this situation. Their survival plan depends on constantly
moving along the road while scavenging food, clothing, and supplies from the
ruins of homes, farms, and towns. As they travel along the dull atmosphere, the
boy and his father encounter the spectrum of humanity, ranging from goodness
to depravity. All of their belongings are inside a shopping cart, that they just

push around from place to place. As the conditions for a living are not that
great, the father develops a worsening respiratory condition, which causes him
to cough blood. As there is little to no food, humanity has resorted to
cannibalism as their final measure. Thus, why the father and his son have to be
extremely careful with the people they encounter. Encounters on the road test
the father’s and son’s mettle and shape their character. Sometimes, the pair is
lucky enough to find bunkers filled with food and other supplies. Other times,
they have to starve for days. It’s a baffling world, where we hopefully do not
have to live in.  Analysis One main theme that I noticed while reading the novel, was the analogy
between the good and the bad guys. There is no real definition of who is the
good or the bad guy, nor can you actually make a definition for them. Everyone
sees the good and the bad differently. In the novel, the man sees himself and his
son as the good guys and other people that they encounter as the bad guys. In a
dialogue with his son, he points out who he sees as the good guys. He says that
the people who do not eat other people are the good guys. Although that
definitely is one basic principle of a good guy, I believe there are other
principles as well, like you help other people in need and you do not rob people,
no matter the circumstance. If this was the case, then the Man would not fall
under the good guy category. The Man robbed a wretched man traveling alone,
that they believed to be the thief of their stuff. Even though, he might have
stolen their belongings, I still do not think it was moral of them to strip him
naked. So, as you can see, it’s hard to define what a good guy is, but somehow
the Man and his son always knew if a person was good or bad.

To feel the full impact of the Enlightenment on America one needs only to look at the first inaugural address of Thomas Jefferson, who, along with Benjamin Franklin, is considered to be the American most touched by the ideas of the Enlightenment. Attempts to reconcile science and religion resulted in a widespread rejection of prophecy, miracle and revealed religion in preference for Deism especially by Thomas Paine in "The Age of Reason" and by Thomas Jefferson in his short Jefferson Bible from which all supernatural aspects were removed. Benjamin Franklin was influential in America, England, Scotland, and France, for his political activism and for his advances in physics. The American Dream is a national ethos of the United States, a set of ideals in which freedom includes the opportunity for prosperity and success, and an upward social mobility achieved through hard work

" Kipling's family became yearly visitors to Simla and Lockwood Kipling was asked to serve in the Christ Church there. He returned to Simla for his annual leave each year from 1885 to 1888, and the town figured prominently in many of the stories Kipling was writing for the Gazette. Kipling describes this time: "My month's leave at Simla, or whatever Hill Station my people went to, was pure joy--every golden hour counted. It began in heat and discomfort, by rail and road. It ended in the cool evening, with a wood fire in one's bedroom, and next morn--thirty more of them ahead!--the early cup of tea, the Mother who brought it in, and the long talks of us all together again. One had leisure to work, too, at whatever play- work was in one's head, and that was usually full." Back in Lahore, some thirty-nine stories appeared in the Gazette between November 1886 and June 1887. Most of these stories were included in Plain

Letters of Jonathan Oldstyle 1802 Salmagundi 1807-1808 A History of New York 1809 Emily Elizabeth Dickinson Emily Elizabeth Dickinson (December 10, 1830 May 15, 1886) was an American poet. Born in Amherst, Massachusetts to a successful family with strong community ties, she lived a mostly introverted and reclusive life. After she studied at the Amherst Academy for seven years in her youth, she spent a short time at Mount Holyoke Female Seminary before returning to her family's house in Amherst. Thought of as an eccentric by the locals, she became known for her penchant for white clothing and her reluctance to greet guests or, later in life, even leave her room. Dickinson was a prolific private poet, though fewer than a dozen of her nearly eighteen hundred poems were published during her lifetime. The work that was published during her

He is, at heart, a kind, compas-sionate, and sensitive young man, but the brutal expe-rience of warfare teaches him to detach himself from his feelings. His account of the war is a bitter invective against sentimental, romantic ideals of warfare. Read an in-depth analysis of Paul Bäumer. Stanislaus Katczinsky - A soldier belonging to Paul's company and Paul's best friend in the army. Kat, as he is known, is forty years old at the beginning of the novel and has a family at home. He is a resourceful, inventive man and always finds food, clothing, and blankets whenever he and his friends need them. 1) INDIAN ROCK ART: A NATIONAL TREASURE IN DANGER Unrecognized, unprotected, this priceless legacy of primitive art has endured the ravages of nature only to fall victim to wanton destruction by ,,civilized" man. Like the huge stone statues of Easter Island and prehistoric cave paintings of Altamira and Lascaux, North American Indian rock art is surrounded by an atmosphere of mystery. Although examples of rock art exist at some 15000 sites in canyons, deserts, caves and river gorges. Nowadays, however, primitive rock art in the United States has become a new field of scientific study. Klaus F Wellmann wrote two books about rock art. He is a professor of medicine. Rock art represents the history of aboriginal Americans. In the most cases the art is an expression of ideas and way of life, ritual ceremonies, hunting, fighting. The pictures of people and animals are often strikingly lifelike and artistic. Many of these ancient relics have been destroyed by the ravages of nature and of man

William Makepeace Thackeray was an English novelist of the 19th century. He was famous for his satirical works, particularly Vanity Fair, a panoramic portrait of English society. Thackeray, an only child, was born in Calcutta, India, where his father, Richmond Thackeray (1 September 1781 13 September 1815), held the high rank of secretary to the board of revenue in the British East India Company. William had been sent to England earlier, at the age of five, with a short stopover at St. Helena where the imprisoned Napoleon was pointed out to him. He was educated at schools in Southampton and Chiswick and then at Charterhouse School, where he was a close friend of John Leech. He disliked Charterhouse, parodying it in his later fiction as "Slaughterhouse." Illness in his last year there (during which he reportedly grew to his full height of 6'3") postponed his matriculation at Trinity College, Cambridge, until February 1829. Never too
