What is levels of formality

Search on the Internet leads to such subjects as "Levels of Formality in Language", "Formality levels of communication" , "Levels of formality in writing". Proceeding from it, it is possible to draw a conclusion, that levels of formality are almost everywhere. For a start it is worth understanding formality levels in Spoken language. Because the spoken language is used much more often. The first level of Spoken language is informal. Its use for routine messages delivered face-to-face with friends. Informal language is relaxed language with slang, contractions and humor. The second level is Semiformal. Its use for important messages to strangers(for example, Phone call). It is language with some contractions and personal pronouns. And the last one is Formal. Its use for serious messages and in other formal contexts. Pros and cons of social networking

Pros and cons of social networking “Connectivity is a human right.“ Said Mark Zuckerberg Dear friends and Ingrid. Today I’m here to talk about the pros and cons of social networking. We all use internet everyday but we don’t really know the influence of social networking in our lives. I think social networking sites allow people to improve their relationships and make new friends. It is good that people can instant message with people all the time all over the world. It makes people feel like they are not alone. However the con to this is that social media

Should parents limit the time their children use computers?

Should parents limit the time their children use computers? Computer what is it? Are computers our friends or enemies? Computers were invented in the last century especially to make people`s life easier. When there were no computers in the world, everything was much more complicated. Information spreaded slowly and if we wanted to write our friends, we must wait for a long time that the letter would reach the place. Nowadays computers are very common and almost everyone has it at home. Computer is very useful in many areas, for example in the companies, in schools. You can pay bills, read the most recent news, talk to friends, play games. Big computer use has also caused major problems. Almost every person has a computer at home and young children learn to use them. This ,,exciting thing" is robs a lot of free time for children

Mõtteteri sõprusest

Sõber on hinnalisim varandus. Sõber on su teine mina. Tõeline sõber ei jäta sind ka siis, kui terve maailm on sinu vastu. Sõprus pole see, kui keegi ütleb: "Sa oled mu sõber!", sõprus on see, mida me ajajooksul kohtame. Fassaad ilutseb möödujaile. Paraaduks avaneb tuttavaile. Tagahoovi minnakse sõpradega. Sõprus lõppeb seal, kus algab umbusk. Some people come into our lives and quickly go.. Some people become friends but get lost suddenly when we need them.. Some people become friends and stay awhile, leaving beautiful footprints on our hearts. Some people become friends and stay forever, right beside you, like I try to do.. You are the one I adore, and I hope you are always right here, when I need you, like you always were been. I can't live my life without you. I want you to know that I love you forever, even if we fight, even if i'm mad because you, even if we don't talk

My weekend

I think that the weekend is best part of the week. I could even say, that i love weekends. I can rest a lot and also sleep long in the mornings. Also then i don´t have to go to the school, which is also good. Usually my weekend goes like this : On Friday, about 2 olock I always go to home. This is the time when the bus will leave to Hiiumaa. At 5 o´clock I´m at home. After that I eat and talk a little with my parents and sister. I think that about at 8 o´clock I hang outside with my friends. We are usually just walking and talking about our weekends. Sometimes, later at that night, we go to some party. There are many people and usually we are talking, dancing and laughing. About at 03.00 I´m always at home sleeping. It´s Saturday morning, or should I say afternoon. Usually I wake around 12.00 . Then I will eat ``breakfast`` and watch TV. At Saturday I like to be at home. I just rest and chat in computer and talk with my parents. At 5 o´clock we go to my granny´s house

Eating out

Eating out More and more of us are eating out on a regular basis, whether its for a business lunch, a girls get together or for a family meal. Eating out usually means that we have little control over how the food is prepared or how large the portion is. Foods eaten out tend to be higher in fat and research has shown that those who eat out regularly generally have higher intakes of fat, salt and calories. Studis have also shown that eating with friends can tempt us to overeat. Unlike packaged food, doods bought from cafes, restaurants dont have to carry nutritional information and so opting for the healthiest option might not always be abvious or easy. However, with some knownledge and thought, eating out can be enjoyable and healthy. Sometimes i like eating out with friends. Eating out with friends is the way to talking about our school day. I like our talkings beyond school. We always eat our favorite place, Hesburger

games. As everything in life, it has advantages, if they are used with coherence, but also disadvantages. On the one hand, you can have a good time alone. Besides, there are many logical games where it is possible to learn. Apart from being entertaining, they test your logic and skills. Video games can also improve your reflex actions and develop your imagination. On the other hand, video games can cause addiction and make you lose communication with your family and friends. People sometimes spend too much time in front of the screen, so they are not in the street with their friends. Furthermore, some video games are very aggressive and can influence our behaviour negatively. I believe that if video games are used properly and in the correct measure, they can be fun, but, in my opinion, it is much more interesting to be out with friends and enjoy the fresh air. Essay- Money is the All Root of Evil

Essay: Money is the root of all evil Vanessa Maibaum Money is the only thing you need to pay for things you have to buy. It helps to buy and sell things and pay for the services. When money is so important, then why people say that its the root of all evil. Money is also something that causes a lot of troble. For example when you have it much then some people only are friends with you because they need money. Like, they play friends with you only because they know that when they need money then they can borrow that from you. Also it causes troble too when you do not have money. Because when you do not have it you think that you are so unhappy only because you do not have money. It is because you cannot buy things you think you need to be happy. I think that, when someone thinks that they are unhappy because they do not have money, they are stupid. There are so

Love and marriage

Love and marriage It is generally considered foolish to marry for love, although love may occur in marriage. Your parents and friends are better equipped than you are to look out for your best interests, being mature and experienced in the world. Let them negotiate and recommend and you're much more likely to be happy in marriage. Just because a marriage is arranged doesn't mean you've never met the other person. Most people arrange their children's marriages with the children of neighbors and friends. The lower on the social scale you are, the more likely you are to have a choice in the matter.

Internet communications can potentially displace face-to-face communications. People tend to loose their real-life communication skills and the generation growing up now has bigger chance to face the problems similar to social anxiety. Sure, I assume that I am also living a virtual life, but all of my friends online, are also my friends in real life. And even if I make some cyber friends, I always manage to enable face-to-face communication and exchange of emotions. I think it is very important and it should be a priority to everyone. In conclusion, I think everyone should bear in mind to closely examine their behaviour. The time spent online should not negatively impact the personal well-being. Ofcourse, we shouldn't thow our computer out of the window, but then again we should't get lost in the cyber world.

Love- your worst enemy?

Every person in your family is important and you have to love and care for them. A family has to stick together and always be there for each other. It is not difficult to love somebody related to you. It is quite natural. You can feel the connection between that person and yourself. On the other hand, loving someone outside your family is something very different. It can be very painful and yet that pain may be the best thing that had ever happened to you. Most of us start out as just friends and love comes later. Others fall in love at first sight. It takes a lot of courage to become more than friends. What happens if this doesn't work out? It is not that easy to stay friends after a bad break-up. There is one thing you must not be afraid of and that is heartache. Especially young people who are inexperienced and easy to become attached. It is said that you should not fall in love and become too fond of someone when you are young. It think that is wrong.

unforgettable experience and it also broadens your mind. Secondly, you might get a better job. Young people often move away from their homeland, because they think that they might get a better education, if they study in a well-known university. Finally, you can find a lot of new friends. However, for every plus there is a minus. The main disadvantage is that you might start feeling homesick, because you have left all your relatives and friends behind. Culture shock can also be a problem. It might not be so easy to get used to local traditionds and customs. Moreover, the language barrier might be a huge problem. In conclusion, I think that the advantages outweigh the disadvantages. Although it depends very much on the person, who emigrates, it seems to me that in general emigration is a good thing.

He holds on to the romantic prewar ideals of love and fair play, yet, against the backdrop of the devastating legacy of World War I, these values seem tragically absurd. As a Jew and a nonveteran, Cohn is a convenient target for the cruel and petty antagonism of Jake and his friends. Read an in-depth analysis of Robert Cohn. Bill Gorton - Like Jake, a heavy-drinking war veteran, though not an expatriate. Bill uses humor to deal with the emotional and psychological fallout of World War I. He and Jake, as American veterans, share a strong bond, and their friendship is one of the few genuine emotional connections in the novel. However, Bill is not immune to the petty cruelty that characterizes Jake and Jake's circle of friends.

Next month I am going on a cycling holiday in the mountains with some of my friends. The landscape is quite rough there, so could you tell me if your bikes are good for riding on rough terrain? Could you also suggest if I should get a touring bike or an adventurer bike? I am going with 2 friends and we are planning to take a lot of luggage, so could you tell me if the panniers are fit for a lot of luggage or not? I would be grateful if you could also let me know if there are some larger frames available.

Wealth does not bring happiness essay

Wealth does not bring happiness People work for money, play lottery for money and some of us even commit crimes to get money. It sometimes seems that wealth is the main values in life but it does not actually bring happiness. No matter how wealthy you are, you still can not buy love or friends. Even worse, people that seem to care about you may only be intrested in your money. Furthermore, some people work for their lives to get wealthy but unfortunately, they forget about the most important- their families. Wealth can change people the way they in point of fact never wanted to change. On the other hand, being wealthy prevents financial problems and this means less worrying. You can buy things you really need plus you can support the underprivileged and the less fortunate

She was always bullied by the big tough girls at the school. Once she stood up to them and the bad girls seemed to like her so called “sassiness”. They invited her to the back ally to “talk”, of course Sam did not know what they ment by that, so she went outside. When they graduated the school, they become partners- riding bicycles in the city parks. As they looked very young, they got a mission- get the drug dealers in high school. They infiltrade to the same high school were they studyed. At the end of the film they got the drug dealers and get best friends. I think the actors did good job. Both leading characters fit perfectly to the film. Those good- looking's (Channing Tatum) and pudgy nerd's (Johan Hill) dialogues were funny and hilarious. They are very good and professionals actors, that is why the characters were played well. The locations and costumes were fine and there is nothing to disparage. 21 Jump Street is a very good comedy film. In that movie is erveything what to wish for a one good American comedy

Submarine

Submarine Submarine is a movie, about 15-year-old Oliver Tate, who has two objectives: To lose his virginity before his next birthday, and to extinguish the flame between his mother and an ex- lover who has resurfaced in her life. In my opinion, Oliver was weird. He had his own thoughts and rules like to lose his virginity before his next birthday. He had his own weird friends, and few girl friends. There were times, when Oliver was kind of caring, kind, considering and helpful but most of the times he was very lonely (except being with Jordana). He wanted his parents to love each other passionately and he had pretty much work with this. Then there was Jordana, a girl who was very unusual. To me she seemed a bit angry and kind of shy. She liked to do things that other girls on her age never would do. That pretty much says the basic things about her. Oliver parents were weirder than Oliver

Military service – pros and cons

Military service is very important part of a country. Its success mainly depends on country`s citizens. On the one hand, military service has some big advantages. One of the most important is, that military makes a country stronger and secures the independents. In addition, there are also positive sides for people. People can get some useful skills, invaluable experience and a great physical condition with everyday training. There is also a big chance to get some good friends from military after being together almost a year. Yet, the year off could give time for thinking for those, who don`t know what to do with their lives. On the other hand, military service has its disadvantages. Not everyone is suitable for military and some men couldn`t manage that pressure. Yet, in democratic countries people should have a chance to choose their destiny by themselves and army restrics our freedom. Besides, the

The Host (raamat)

There are one film based on the book. The main characters are Wanderer or 'Wanda' for a nickname, Melanie Stryder, Ian O'Shea, Jared Howe, Jamie Stryder, Uncle Jeb, The Seeker, Kyle O'Shea and Doc. In the first chapter Wanda goes in Melanie’s body and are described what she feels and thinks. In the beginning Wanda doesn’t listen Melanie and tries to ignore her. And Melanie really hated Wanda for "stealing" her body and ruining her life. But as the story develops, Melanie and Wanda become friends. The plot of the novel is very fascinating. There are no illustrations, except on the cover. In my opinion, the novel is very Exciting and Thought-Provoking. This book was thick enough to live in and enjoy it. I liked the book despite that the "Souls" came and took over bodies. It was book what says that even humans and "aliens" can be friends.

Tolerance and Diversity

Tolerance and Diversity Nowadays people are cautious and like to be independent to choose who they want to be acquainted with. The origin of a person is usually top priority. However, some people do not care where their friends are from and what the colour of their skin is. "Tolerance" is a noun with profound meaning. It has been built on an individual opinion, on the influence of friends and how the society affects people. Human nature is one-sided, because they believe in exact stereotypes of people and try to follow them. Many characteristics are also immediately being added to the person's characteristics according to its origin. It is better if you never evaluate anything by its appearance in order not to come to the wrong conclusion. People are very easily affected. Media and television are the main influencers. Sometimes I argue with them, usually it is related to my laziness not wanting to put dishes to the dishwasher, or not wanting to go to bed. How is school life for you? I like school because there I can communicate and talk to my friends. Studying and tests have never been a difficulty for me, but this year physics and math are getting hard. I don't like math, never have. What are the biggest pressures for teens in you city? Võru doesn't have pressure for teens because it is a small and a peaceful city, at least I can't feel any. Identity as a personal project

influence the creation of individual identity? I agree to Giddens – person isn´t born with identity, everyone has to build and develop it during the whole life. Many factors play their own roles in this process, and I think the first factor is a family. All mayor impressions about culture, religion, relations we carry through life starting from families, especially parents. Secondary factor, what comes to characters´ life is neighbourhood and friends. From this moment factors are starting to interact, influencing our thoughts and feelings. Later as a factor could come religion or state or work – it depends on characters´ life. Factors interactions could be very different – they can supply one another or to be in conflict. For example, when our character will be deciding who is right about skipping lessons, his friends or his mother. This very common thing could influence characters´ future and his decision depends only on his

I am a 20-year-old Portugese student and I come from Coimbra in the north of Portugal. At present I am still studying at college but I am taking my final exams in May. I have studied English for six years but I want to spend some time in England in order to improve my spoken English. I am interested in sport and fitness and at home I go to the sports centre three times a week. I am also a member of the college swimming team. I get on very well with people and I like making new friends. I do not mind doing any sort of work including cleaning, washing up and helping in the gym. I am prepared to work any hours but ideally I would like to work in the afternoons and evenings only so that I can attend English classes in the mornings. I have friends who live in Chichester, so accommodation is not a problem. My term ends on 28th May, so I would be able to start on 1st June. I look forward to hearing from you soon. Complain letter

18.01.2011 Dear Mr/Ms Owner; Allow me to say that I truly love your product and I have shopped at your establishment on a regular basis. I have enjoyed your product so much, in fact, that I have often recommended it to my friends and acquaintances. Unfortunately, I find that I am no longer comfortable in your establishment because of the frequent and obnoxious thumping of boom cars. I estimate that I spend more than $1,000 a year in your store, and I feel badly that my friends and I are forced to put that into a competitor's cash register. I would rather it go to you which is why I am writing. I think it's a tragedy when a group of obnoxious idiots are allowed to interfere with our daily lives and pursuits

same class, 10 years in a row! Robin is 6 months younger than me he is 16 years old. Robin is quite tall 188 cm, skinny and paleskinned. Comparing with boys, Robin has very long and wavy brown hair. In summer he had a haircut called ,,cornrow", but now his hair is taid back in a ponytail. He is attractive and good looking person. Every time I see him, he smiles. He tends to be very positive and cheerful. He is active and has no difficulty making new friends. I also find him to be courteous and kindhearted. If his friends are in a trouble, Robin always tries to help them. Robin can be very humorous. Sometimes it is very funny to listen to his jokes during the break. He also has an artistic side. For example, some time ago, when we were practising our play ,,Highschool Musical", Robin played different roles. For all these reasons, I really like him. I wish I could see more of him, as we see each other mostly at school

Essee: Can money buy happiness?

Can money buy happiness Since I can remember I have heard people say, that money cannot buy happiness. I generally believe it to be true; the most important things in life, such as friends, family and love can't be bought. However, in today's world we must agree that life without money can be really stressful and hard. If one doesn't have any money, one can't afford to pay rent, buy food, clothes, get medical help if needed or basically do anything. For example, people in developing countries are very poor, they don't have access to pure drinking water or food and they are unable to get proper medical help and that's why in Africa there are always all kinds of diseases spreading

Distance learning is a challenge

school work also. As a result, you school work suffers. I think teachers try to keep our motivation and give us a little work as possible. Distance learning may be hard for social people. If you can´t communicate with your friends and maybe teachers, it can really affect you mental health. But nowadays we can communicate in different social platforms. It makes this a little bit easier. We can also do video calls with friends and teachers. So we can discuss our school work. To sum up, we need to stay home right know and we need make it work. All things considered we are doing fine and I think our school work don´t suffers much. I can´t wait to go to school.

About myself

I am a girl of sixteen. When I look at myself in the mirror I see a blond girl with short straight hair, dark eyes and slander figure. As to my appearance I'm rather tall and slim. I have never thought I'm a beauty I whish I were more beautiful. I think that I'm even tempered, rather reserved, calm and modest. But sometimes I can lose my tempo and become either angry or sad. I like staying alone and sometimes I retire into my shell. But at the same time I like my friends, I like to laugh and joke. I have got a sense of humour. It means I understand humour and appreciate it. There are many things in our life I like and some I dislike. I like when everything is OK. Being happy is one way of being wise. I like to study because knowledge is useful sometimes. I'm fond of reading as it gives not only knowledge, but wonderful moments of joy and pleasure. I am neither short nor tall, so I like to wear highheeled shoes, trousers or jeans.

To like and dislike the same things, that is indeed true friendship

"To like and dislike the same things, that is indeed true friendship" Friendship is based on many things. You have to have trust, respect, humour and many other things with the person so he or she could become a good friend. But maybe one of the most important things is to have something in common. When I think about my best friends then I can really see how much we have in common. We very often think the same about life, things and people. We share very many viewpoints and agree on so many things. There is always something to talk about and fun never ends. It's sometimes great to have somebody who shares your ideas. Then you know that you are not alone and you can complain to someone who really understands. On the other hand, I can also see, when looking at my friendships, that
