Press Operator Press operator is the operator of the printing press in a printing house. Press operators job is the maintenance and operation of the press. Press operator must also run the paper through the machine and change paper rolls. When the printing sheet comes out of the press, the press operator must quickly check that there is correct amount of ink and water on the sheet and that the printing plates are correctly aligned. This process of alignment is called registration. The press operator job is stressful because it must be done quickly and accurately. In a lot of printing houses the press operator must also prepare the printing plates and insert them into the press.
