(6959 m).  Andid on noor alpikurrutusse kuuluv mäestik, kus on palju tegevvulkaane ja maavärinaid. Mäestik koosneb mitmest põhja- lõunasuunalisest mäeahelikust, mille järgi jagatakse Andid Põhja-, Kesk-, Lõuna- ja Patagoonia Andideks. Kesk- Andid Kesk-Andid Peruus on kõrged, astanguliste graniittippudega mäed, mis kerkivad jäiste ribide ja segipaisatud liustike kohale. Peruu Andid Peruu Andid on jagunenud mitmeks ahelikuks, mägironijate hulgas on populaarsemad Cordillera lanca ja Cordillera Huayhuash. Pinnavormi teke ja selle mõju inimtegevusele Andid on tekkinud ookeanilise laama sukeldumisel mandrilise laama alla. Andides leidub hulganisti maavarasid (nt vaske, tina, hõbedat, kulda) ja mäestiku orgudes saab kasvatada põllukultuure (nt pärineb kartul sealt). Kliima Kuna Andid hõlmavad väga ulatusliku ala, varieerub ka mäestiku kliima. Andide keskosa on väga kuiva kliimaga, seal asub üks maailma kuivemaid kohti, Atacama kõrb.

Toronto is the largest city in Canada with a population of 4.3 million. Other major cities include Montreal (3.3 million people), Vancouver (1.8 million people). Located in the southeast corner of the nation, Ottawa is the nation's capital. Relief Canada is a vast country comprised of a multitude of very different landscapes: Atlantic provinces, the Appalachians, St. Lawrence and Great Lakes lowlands, Canadian Shield, The Prairies, mountain ranges and high plateaus of the Canadian Cordillera, and northern Canada. Climate Canada's climate varies wildly based on geography, from perma-frost in the north to four distinct seasons towards the equator. In this region the temperature can climb up to 35 degrees Celsius in the summer and descend to a chilly -25 degrees Celsius during winter. Canada's climate and environment are one of the main reasons that Canada is such a succesful country. The blend of natural resources and climate sustains us. The seasons dictate the look of

Geographically, Canada can be divided into five major regions: the Pacific Region, the Prairie Provinces, Central Canada, the Atlantic Provinces and the North. The Pacific Region includes Canada's westernmost province British Columbia. The region is known for its mild coastal climate, its forests and its spectacular mountains, including the famous Rockies which are also the youngest and highest mountains in Canada. British Columbia is in the landform region called the Western Cordillera (system of mountain ranges). Between the mountain ranges are areas of high plateaus and deep trenches. Since the landscape is very rugged, most people live in the south and near the coast. Vancouver and Victoria are the largest cities in British Columbia. Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba are Canada's Prairie Provinces. They are known for their rolling plains and extreme climate with long, cold winters and hot, dry summers. Much

below sea level. At the western edge of the Atlantic coast plain, are almost unbroken mountains, stretching from the Maine into Alabama, called the Appalachian Mountains. These mountains contain coal and iron. The heart of the U.S is a vas plain named interior plains and are divided into two major parts: the wetter, eastern part is called the Central Plains and the western part the Great Plains, both with very good soil. To the west of the Great Plains is the Cordillera. It is a region of tremendous variety, which can be subdivided into various other regions. On the eastern border the Rocky Mountains, a high, discontinuous mountains stretching from Alaska down to Mexico. The western edge of the Cordillera is described by high mountains. The most important ranges are the Sierra Nevada and the Cascades. The U.S has several long rivers, mostly located in the eastern part of the country. The longest is the Missouri (~4,000 km), a tributary of the Mississippi

The country also includes several major islands, including Baffin, Ellesmere, Victoria, Newfoundland, and Melville, and many small ones. Its border with the U.S., the longest border in the world not patrolled by military forces, extends 8,890 km. 3. Mountains, lowlands Canada's vast area means it has many varying types of terrain, much of which is mountainous. The Cordillera in the west, the Appalachians in the southeast, the mountains of northern Labrador and of Baffin Island in the northeast, and the Innuitian Mountains in the north form its high edge. A large interior basin centred on Hudson Bay and covering nearly four-fifths of the country is composed of the Canadian Shield, the interior plains, and the Great Lakes St. Lawrence lowlands. Canada's highest peak is Mount Logan (5,959 m) in Yukon Territory. 4. Rivers, lakes

grain crops are grown. Besides providing its own people with food, the US sends much food to other countries. Dairy cattle is bred mainly in the eastern part, beef cattle in the prairies. Poultry farms are near the big cities and vegetables and potatoes are grown all over the country. California is famous for its fruit plantations. Natural Resources The United States of America is rich in coal, iron and oil. There are coal-mines in the Cordillera Mountains, in the Kansas City region and in the east near Birmingham and Pittsburgh. Iron is mined near the Great Lakes and in the Pittsburgh, Birmingham and Philadelphia areas. In California and Texas there are rich oil-fields. There are also deposits of silver and gold Animal life In the Arctic regions of mountain and tundra are found ground squirrels, occasional bear and cold-water fish. Alaskan coastal waters are the habitat of a number of large mammals including walrus and seals

Mandrilava kuulub hõlvamise sügavuseni Haitile. 7 8 Loodus Pinnamood Haiti on üks mägisemaid maid Kariibi mere saartel (Lääne-Indias): mäed moodustavad riigi pindalast kolmveerandi. Mäeahelikudja neid lahutavad madalikud on enam-vähem lääne- idasuunalised. Põhjas algab Loodepoolsaarelt edela-kagusuunalinePõhjaahelik (Massif du Nord), mis jätkub Dominikaani Vabariigis Kesk-Kordiljeeride (Cordillera Central) nime all. Koos moodustavad nad Haiti saare peamäestiku. Lõunas on pikk ja suhteliselt kitsas Tiburoni poolsaar, millel paiknevad Hotte'i mäed(Massif de la Hotte ehk Massif du Sud poolsaare sügavuses, riigi edelaosas) ja Selle'i mäed (Massif de la Selle ehk Chaine de la Selle riigi kaguosas). Selle'i mägedes on ka riigi kõrgeim tipp La Selle (Pic La Selle; 2690 m või 2684 m või 2680 m või 2674 m üle merepinna).

The Rocky Mountain System within the United States is a United States physiographic region. Though part of the Pacific Cordillera, they are not to be confused with the Pacific Coast Ranges which are located immediately adjacent to the Pacific coast. The Rocky Mountains are a great place for holidays for walking, climbing, fishing, hunting or skiing. The only big city in the Rockies is Denver.
