Are you experienced? By William Sutcliffe Have you ever thought about backpackers and what makes them go to such a nerve-racking trip? Or do they regret leaving modern life behind and packing it up to find themselves in 3rd world countries? I had thought about it before, however newer as thoroughly as William Sutcliffes   novel   made   me   think.   The   author   writes   about   the   struggles   and   triumphs   in adjusting to major environmental changes and issues with other travellers that appear in every other backpackers journey. The book is entertaining though it’s full of problems that the 3rd world has and it highlights them in almost unnoticeable ways. “Are you experienced “ draws attention to  food and water problems that are common in India. There were many detailed descriptions of diseases and parasites, they were rather disgusting. Even the thought of the situation where locals can’t drink tap water or they even don’t have running water in house makes reader as me aware of the issues and makes me appreciate what I have. The issues raised in the book were taken from life and most of them are part of travellers life, however the author went over the top and by that made situations worse than they could have been in real life. As example the main character Liz runs into her 2nd  grade friend and it makes her journey longer and it tears her apart from her friend Dave witch who they planned the journey together. Due to Liz departure Dave finds himself in the middle of India with nothing more than his backpack. It makes the storyline superior which is always better than following the easily predictable plot. “Are you experienced ” is not the best nor the worst read. It’s described as very funny but I think it’s more drama, than comedy. I would recommend it to anyone who is interested in travel books and fiction.

Backpaking lifestyle

One possible outcome of sustained, diverse cultural interaction is a cosmopolitan disposition (in contrast to parochialism), in which it is suggested that tourism may lead to a subjective open-orientation or outlook towards other ways of life (Enoch & Grossman, 2010; Germann Molz, 2006; 2008; Hannerz, 1990). Indeed, Ryan 8 (Australian, 48) after 14 years of lifestyle travel attested: ‘I’ve experienced a continued acceptance of all lifestyles and all types of people. A greater knowledge about the world as a small glass, like a universal condition rather than a national condition.’ A further cosmopolitan claim was staked by Adam (Israeli, 25): I wanted to see other ways of living, to see if my way of living is the right way, to meet people from all over the world, to see what the outside world is about and to expand my way of thinking.

’Anita and Me’ by Meera Syal

BOOK REPORT Title & author of the book: 'Anita and Me' by Meera Syal The setting of the book? The story resolves around Meena Syal, the daughter of the only Punjabi family in the Midlands' mining village of Tollington. The novel provides a vision of British childhood in the 1960s, a childhood caught between two cultures, each on the brink of enormous change. Meena is desperate to fit in with the other children in her neighbourhood while forever feeling like an outsider because she is "different". Eventhough the Punjabi family is well respected by the locals, there are still sutations

Hoffman reaches the unknown by car, with an American friend experienced enough in travelling to protect her against the imminent dangers she can foresee Á which, fortunately, are not materialized. Once the foreign has, to a certain extent, been domesticated, second crossings are by far less problematic

Merde Actually

Merde Actually By Stephen Clarke "Merde Actually" is written by Stephen Clarke, who is a British journalist and a novelist living in Paris. When he first arrived in Paris, he experienced a cultural shock and got inspired by it. He started to keep a diary of his experiences and decided to publish it as a novel when the Anglo-French relationships were at their worst during the Iraq War spring 2003. Therefore his novels (he has written three in this series) have become enormously popular all around the world, especially because they are partly true. Stephen Clarke himself still lives in Paris with his French girlfriend. This novel is considered to be seriously funny

ARTICLE AND BOOK REVIEW what books have you read lately? INTRODUCTION Books are treasure that takes out all reality and replaces it with fantacy, psyhology and humor in some cases. Depends what books are you reading. I like to read scince fiction, psychologyle and philosophical books. That makes my mind work other direction and lets me think over my consciousness. BOOK CONTENT So lately I have read a book named „Stepihunt”, author is Hermann Hesse. This book was quite lovely piece on art.
