National Flag Day Nowadays People celebrate Flag Day very differently, many people have some kind of a party that day. In some places competitions are held and you can even see a parade. The designation has faded over the years; some calendars don't even mark Flag Day. Some veterans organizations and Boy Scout troops remember the day, but Flag Day is an observance, not a federal holiday. That means it's mostly business as usual. Still, in some places people take the day as any other. Some smaller towns celebrate it a little bit, but in bigger cities very often nothing happens. Veterans celebrating Parade People hoising the flag Now and then Flag day makes everybody happy The end

In addition to that, sometimes people use a war just to justify their revenge, they just use the power, they have, to satisfy own ambitions to feel a win's spirit. So they become winners, but it is only formally. On the other hand, there is only one advantage of a war getting some territory or money, but it has much more disadvantages like violence, distraction, houndreds of innocent victims, human's deaths etc. What's more, millions of veterans and their children would remember cruelty, violence and rudeness. In conclusion, I would like to say that war has neither winners nor losers. If somebody wins a war, he is the same loser like those who are not, because he puts himself at the same low moral level as a simple criminal.

Ernest Hemingway as a short-story writer. Ernest Miller Hemingway is born in United States in 1899. He was novelist, short-story writer and journalist. He was the part of 1920s expatriate community in Paris and one of the veterans of World War I later known as ,,the Lost Generation". The Hemingway's style could be characterised like this: a lot of dialogues, hidden morals and messanges in stories and interesting titles. I am going to write about short-stories written by Ernest Hemingway. It is based on the book ,,The cat in the rain" which includes stories ,,A canary for one", ,,Indian camp", ,,Cat in the rain" and ,,Hills like white elephants". I am going to analyse three stories of this book - ,,A canary for

ideals of love and fair play, yet, against the backdrop of the devastating legacy of World War I, these values seem tragically absurd. As a Jew and a nonveteran, Cohn is a convenient target for the cruel and petty antagonism of Jake and his friends. Read an in-depth analysis of Robert Cohn. Bill Gorton - Like Jake, a heavy-drinking war veteran, though not an expatriate. Bill uses humor to deal with the emotional and psychological fallout of World War I. He and Jake, as American veterans, share a strong bond, and their friendship is one of the few genuine emotional connections in the novel. However, Bill is not immune to the petty cruelty that characterizes Jake and Jake's circle of friends. Mike Campbell - A constantly drunk, bankrupt Scottish war veteran. Kemmerich begins to cry silently and refuses to respond to Paul's attempts at conversation. Paul goes to find the doctor, who refuses to come. When Paul returns to Kemmerich's bedside, Kemmerich is already dead. His body is immediately taken from the bed to clear room for another wounded soldier. Paul takes Kemmerich's boots to Müller. Summary A group of new recruits arrives to reinforce the decimated company, making Paul and his friends feel like grizzled veterans. More than twenty of the reinforcements for the Second Company are only about seventeen years old. Kat gives one of the new recruits some beans that he acquired by bribing the company's cook. He warns the boy to bring tobacco next time as payment for the food. Kat's ability to scrounge extra food and provisions amazes Paul. Kat is a cobbler by trade, but he has an uncanny knack for making the most of life on the front.
another new cipher made its appearance. This was the ADFGVX system, the most famous field cipher in the whole history of cryptology. It was so named because only those six letters occurred in its cryptograms, though just five were used (no v) when the system sprang into use on March 5, 1918. The war in the West had by then become a stalemate of exhaustion. The young recruits who the Kaiser had promised in the glorious summer of 1914 would be "home before the leaves fall" had become veterans hardened by almost four years of battle—those few who survived. The flower of England's youth had perished; in France, a generation had climbed out of the trenches and vanished forever. During the winter, Germany had come to realize that she would have to win in the spring if she were to win at all. The U-boat had failed to starve England into submission, and the United States had entered the war against her. But the collapse of Russia had freed dozens of German
However, there is another aspect of the rule, in addition to its power, that allows this phenomenon to occur. A person can trigger a feeling of indebtedness by doing us an uninvited favor (Paese ~ Gilin, 2000). Recall that the rule states only that we should provide to others the kind of actions they have provided us; it does not require us to have asked for what we have received in order to feel obligated to repay. For instance, the American Disabled Veterans organization reports that its simple mail appeal for donations produces a response rate of about 18 percent. But when the mailing also includes an unso- licited gift (gummed, individualized address labels), the success rate nearly doubles to 35 percent. This is not to say that we might not feel a stronger sense of obliga- tion to return a favor we have requested, but such a request is not necessary to pro- duce our feeling of indebtedness.
W h i l e flattered that someone thought I had such a sweeping influence on the collective mind of Hollywood, I was also devastated. Here, on the threshold o f a new phase of working with these ideas, I was shot down before I even started. Or so it seemed. xxix THE WRITER'S JOURNEY ~ THIRD EDITION Christopher Vogler Friends who were more seasoned veterans in this war of ideas pointed out that in being challenged I was merely encountering an archetype, one of the familiar characters who people the landscape of the Hero's Journey, namely a Threshold Guardian. T h a t information instantly gave me m y bearings and showed me how to handle the situation. C a m p b e l l h a d described how heroes often encounter these "unfamiliar yet strangely intimate forces, some of which severely threaten" them.
SYMPHONISM. THE RISE OF ATTENTION TO HISTORY AND FOLKLORE: JUHAN AAVIK, EDUARD TUBIN, EUGEN KAPP. Economy and cultural life were paralysed by the global economic crisis of 1929-1933. In Estonia it was paralleled by a political crisis. The struggle between several political parties for power led to frequent changes in government, and to instability. To avoid the possibility of Vabadussõjalaste Liit (Estonian Independence War Veterans’ League) seizing power, the Head of State Konstantin Päts enacted a state of national emergency in March 1934. The parliament was dissolved, all political parties disbanded, and to replace them Isamaaliit (Fatherland League) was founded. It was a relatively mild authoritarian regime, yet it cannot be considered a total dictatorship. 1 The “official nationalism” with its corporative nature was criticised by intellectuals.
She no longer is, and this book explores the moral, side. Lierre Keith was a vegan for 20 years. She no longer is, and this book explores the moral, eco-political, and nutritional realities of veganism that led her to reincorporate limited animal products into her diet. Reference- rich and well-written, it is easily the most engrossing book on these topics that I have ever read. Beyond Vegetarianism (www.beyondveg.com) BeyondVeg, curated by vegetarian Thomas E. Billings, features reports from veterans of raw-food and vegetarian diets (including veganism and fruitarianism), plus new scientific discoveries from clinical nutrition. The intent of the site is to discuss the serious problems that can occur on alternative diets but often go unreported. How have dieters solved their problems, whether by modifying the diet in some "unapproved" way while remaining vegetarian, or by adopting nonvegetarian options? BeyondVeg is one of the best compendiums of answers I've found.
