even the crows inspect the leftovers, but decide to turn to the farmer's corn. The crows could also represent the many followers famous people get (fans etc), who turn away as soon as they see the fame becoming less bright. Dickinson ends the poem by saying that men, who eat the dish of fame, die. This means that they have spent their lives in search and pursuit of fame and have lost sight of everything important. Stylistically it is a very lovely poem. It flows nicely, although there is an abrupt change of pace in the last line, but that also carries a significance - to highlight the importance of the last sentence. She has also comprised the stanzas very logically the main idea carries over very well. Dickinson has not used too complex metaphors or stylistic devices, which sometimes make a poem harder to read. I enjoyed the poem, especially because I agree with the main idea - one should not waste one's life

singular. There should be neither slang forms nor colloquialisms. It is important to be as precise and to the point as possible. Hinting at things is not a good idea because essays are not meant to be read by friends who know the writer's point of view anyway, but by mere acquaintances or most often even strangers who should also understand everything the writer is trying to say. As to the sentences, it is stylistically good to have them nicely balanced, some of them longer, some shorter, but not too long or too short. The formality of an essay and unfinished sentences do not go together well. Exclamation marks (!) are considered equal to shouting, which should exclude them from a serious essay. Every single sentence should be full and meaningful in itself but should also follow logically from the sentence before and be a suitable starting point for the next sentence.

g. famous (positive) notorious (negative). Arnold: "For example the words: "girl", "maiden", "lass", "lassie", "chick", "baby", and "young lady" have identical denotation and may be referred to one and the same person, but the use of this or that word depends not so much on the qualities of the girl herself as on the speaker's attitude to the girl and on the social situation. "Girl" is used in any situation, it has no connotation, and it is stylistically neutral. "Maiden" is an archaic and poetic word, and has a lofty ring about it. Its usage is very limited (poetry) and if used informally it acquires a facetious or ironic connotation. "Lass / lassie" (come from Scottish dialect and have a rustic colouring) they are words of endearment and connote affection. "Chick / baby" - are part of informal English; connote intimacy and familiarity. "Young lady" if used in formal conversation connotes

Graphical means and devices The outward shape of the printed page is of great importance. There are various types of prints and their interrelation. In poetry, the author attaches importance to stanza division, the arrangement of lines and the end of line. All these graphical means are very important Stylistically in order to pass over to the reader the features that in oral presentation are rendered by the voice. Punctuation has an important place among graphical means. It points out many elements important from the expressive point of view. Most prominent punctuation are the dash, exclamation mark and question mark. Their frequent use makes the text very emotional. The exclamation mark is often used in sentences that are not exclamatory in form. In such

You take it away. The imperative mood resembles the infinitive in form and meaning. As to the meaning, the imperative mood does not express action, only urges the person to fulfil an action. The infinitive names the action. 3. The subjunctive mood: It expresses unreal or hypothetical actions or states. They may be viewed as desired, necessary, possible, supposed, imaginary or contradicting reality. The subjuncitve mood in modern English is generally an optional and stylistically somewhat marked variant of other constructions. A passive subjunctive is a possibility for all types: God be praised! It would be odd if she were awarded the first prize. Negation: It is essential that this mission not fail. must be gripping your heart, enrapturing and carrying you away. The composer will do his best to show his potential. It may be the case that he simply has no basic principles, and naturally the character for a spacious, wide and large drama or narrative. We have witnessed a mass of multifarious works… Practice proves that even one remarkable image with accordingly remarkable elaboration is enough to offer satisfaction to the listener. In this genre, we can draw a parallel between stylistically outstanding compositions, as the Legendary Symphony of Tubin (1937), the Ballet Symphony of Tamberg (1959), and the Third Symphony of Pärt (1971). All of these are based on inflectional mastery. Naturally, thematic organisation may be replaced by some anti-thematic substitutes as a kaleidoscopic succession (Rääts), symmetry and minimalist repetition (Sumera, Sisask), simply a process remains (Tulve). But to find a pregnant meaty idea,
