However, the family escaped, and were led to a safe haven by Gabriel and Martin. Gabriel got to marry Anne Howard. Soon after the marriage, returning home, Anne and her family, along with all the townspeople, were burnt alive whilst locked in the church. The orders for this came from Tavington. After furious Gabriel discovered what had happened, he with a small group of men and the Dragoons had a fight and during this, many men on both sides were killed, leaving Gabriel and the Reverend to face off against Tavington. The Reverend was shot, but threw his loaded musket to Gabriel, who shot Tavington, who promtply fell to the ground. However, as Gabriel approached his body, he quickly turned around and stabbed him with his sword. As Tavington escaped, Benjamin got there in time to find Gabriel dying on the ground. In the final battle, Col. Harry Burwell and Jean helped Benjamin defeat the British, by using the militia (who were held in low regard by the British

Gilead by Marilynne Robinson

John starts looking back on his life, reminding his parents and grandparents. His father and grandfather were ministers too and ment a lot to him. John talks about a trip he and his father took to find Johns grandfathers grave who had been an itinerant preacher. It had been a rough journey, which lasted for week. They had very little to eat and nowhere to sleep. It had been a bonding experience for them. John Ames is amazed by the fact that everywhere he goes people seem to know that he is a reverend, even strangers. Mr. Ames thinks about the brightest memories of his childhood and writes them down hoping that his son learns something from every story he has put down for him. He mentions his good old friend Mr. Boughton tells about a small disaster that had happened to their hens and the barn. John Ames really wants his son to know and remember him when he is gone and tries to give a detailed list of his regrets and meaningful stories hoping his son learns from them.

What are the responsibilities of and challanges to the Freedom of speech in the 21st century

This makes society acceptive to every little suasions. At the same point education is very easy to get. And when some malevolent human studyes psychology, can he or she manipulate whit other humans and that way he or she can create his or her new religion. And the end of this religion could be very tragic and it could end with very many deaths and suicides, just because somebody tells it is the only right way. For example in the Guyana jungle were founded 914 corpses. They were reverend Jim Jones commanded Folks Temple sects members. Jim Jones used academic psychology to manipulate with them. Abnormal freedom of speech gives in economy big opportunityes to cause a big changes. For example advertisement in tv, journalism and at the streets. When everywhere will be glorifyed some goods or service, then people will buy it. For example - property. Everybody buyed houses and flats or builded by themselves. But now they are in trouble. They have big debts,

Stephen William Hawking

His supervisor was Denis Sciama, although he had hoped to get Fred Hoyle who was working in Cambridge. After gaining his Ph.D. he became first a Research Fellow and later on a Professorial Fellow at Gonville and Caius College. After leaving the Institute of Astronomy in 1973, Stephen came to the Department of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics and since 1979, has held the post of Lucasian Professor of Mathematics. The chair was founded in 1663 with money left in the will of the Reverend Henry Lucas who had been the Member of Parliament for the University. It was first held by Isaac Barrow and then in 1669 by Isaac Newton. Stephen Hawking has worked on the basic laws which govern the universe. With Roger Penrose he showed that Einstein's General Theory of Relativity implied space and time would have a beginning in the Big Bang and an end in black holes. These results indicated that it was necessary to unify General Relativity with Quantum Theory, the other great Scientific

Hillary Diane Clinton

As the First Lady, she became active in domestic policy. Her early years Hillary Diane Rodham Clinton was born on October 26, 1947, in Chicago, Illinois, and grew up, along with two younger brothers, in suburban Chicago. Her parents, Hugh and Dorothy Howell Rodham, raised their children with traditional middle-American values that stressed family, church, school and social obligations. As a youth, Clinton was influenced by her religious education, especially from the Reverend Don Jones, who introduced Rodham to some of the issues, causes, and movements of the time. It was under Jones's guidance that she read religious philosophers and helped the needy by babysitting the children of migrant farm workers. Another influence was meeting the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. (1929-68) during his trip to Chicago on a speaking tour. In 1965 Rodham enrolled in Wellesley College in Massachussetts, where she majored in political science and minored in psychology

Tänapäeval teame me Charles Martin Hall`i, kui leiutajat ja inseneri.

The New Deal had varied success. However, once the U.S. entered World War II in December 1941, the economy quickly recovered, so much that the U.S. became a world superpower by the dawn of the Cold War. During the Cold War, the U.S. and the Soviet Union were the world's two superpowers, but with the end of the Cold War and the collapse of the Soviet Union, United States became the world's only superpower. The civil rights were given to black people in 1964, thanks to reverend Martin Luther King, who fought over the rights of black people and the prejudice against black people became less important at last. Famous martin Luther King speech in Washington By the end of the 18th century, the whole of the Eastern coast of North America had been colonized, largely by British. As the British army needed to be supplied with raw materials, the taxes in America were raised. As there was serious opposition to this taxation the taxes were repealed

psycholinguistics. People assemble whole words in the brain, before actually uttering them. Thus, it is not unusual for slips of the tongue to happen in which sounds of the same word change places e.g. "brake fluid" turns into "blake fruid" ,"past fashion" > "fast passion" The same principle applies to whole phrasesand even sentences, which shows that they, too, are largely preassembled in the mind before being uttered. On the sentence level sometimes the term "spoonerisms" is used < Reverend Spooner (19th century) famous for metathetic slips of the tongue:"You have tasted two worms" (pro "You have wasted two terms").The defining feature in the case of metathesis is that all sounds remain in theword (sentence), they just change places. It is this feature that allows psycholinguists to infer that words and sentences are preassembled in the mind: all sounds are there but the order gets mixed up in the process of actual uttering/pronouncing. The Witch Trials in Salem

The unfortunate man eventually died from this torture. (At one point his tongue was forced out of his mouth and the sheriff, George Corwin, pushed it back in with a cane). Furthermore four people died in prison while awaiting trial (Lyndia Dustin, Ann Foster, Sarah Osborne and Roger Toothaker). The witch mania began when two girls, 9 year old Betty Parris and her 11 year old cousin Abigail Williams tried fortune telling. The two were staying with Betty's father, Reverend Samuel Parris. During the winter they and their friends dabbled with fortune telling by cracking eggs into a glass and interpreting the shapes that were formed. The family owned a slave called Tituba. She was an Arawak Indian. (Tituba is often described as a `black slave'. In fact, there is no evidence that she was black. She was actually Native American). She may have been present when the fortune telling took place. It has also been suggested that Tituba

He is able to see Hester and Pearl whenever he wants. He is also free to leave anytime he wants. He has his freedom and his reputation. However, he also has something he doesn't want, his conscience. How unfortunate it is a person can get away from being caught for a crime. A crime that is punishable by death. Yet, he can't enjoy it. Most people would leave town, sorry for that they've done, but ecstatic they got away to start a new life. Not Dimmesdale, not Reverend Arthur Dimmesdale. He beats himself up over it. Usually thats an analogy, but not this time. The rest of his life is a descent into madness brought on by constant selfinduced suffering, which is later more than self induced when Chllingworth figures it out. Dimmesdale locks himself in a closet beating himself relentlessly with chains and a whip. He also cuts the letter "A" into his skin like how Hester has to wear it on her dress

An equally compelling point regarding the power of reciprocity comes from an account of a woman who saved her own life, not by giving a gift as did the captured soldier, but by refusing a gift and the powerful obligations that went with it. In No- vember 1978 Reverend Jim Jones, the leader of Jonestown, Guyana, called for the mass suicide of all residents, most of whom compliantly drank and died from a vat of poison-laced Kool-Aid. Diane Louie, a resident, however, rejected Jones's com- mand and made her way out of Jonestown and into the jungle. She attributes her willingness to do so to her earlier refusal to accept special favors from him when she was in need. She turned down his offer of special food while she was ill, be-

All other secret-service men are amateurs by comparison." At about half-past ten on the morning of January 17, 1917, the Reverend William Montgomery, a thin, gray-haired scholar of the early church fathers who was serving as a cryptanalyst in the diplomatic section of Room 40, came to tell Hall of what looked like an important message. Montgomery's instincts were right. The cryptogram that he and a youthful colleague, Nigel de Grey, had partially read was to become the single most far-reaching and most important solution in history. The message was a long one, consisting of about a thousand numerical codegroups
