Sissejuhatus Sikhism on monoteistlik religioon, mis on üks noorimaid suurimate maailma usundite seas. See on välja arenenud hinduismist ja islamist, kuid sikhism pole segu nendest religioonidest, vaid eraldi eksisteeriv usund. See on suuruselt viies religioon maailmas ning sikhe on maailmas umbes 28 miljonit. Sikhismi religioonile pani 15. sajandil aluse Lahore lähistel Pakistanis sündinud Guru Nanak. Sõna ,,sikh" (sikkha) tähendab järgijat või õpilast. Sikhid usuvad ühte jumalat, järgivad kümne guru õpetusi ning peavad kinni sikhide püha raamatu ,,Guru Grant Sahib". Sikhide templeid nimetatakse gurdvara`deks. Sikhid usuvad karma, põhimõttesse, põhjuse ja tagajärje seadusse, mille kohaselt voorusliku elu elamine toob kaasa ümbersünni.
