We went there with 3 of us. We took pictures and collected some information about marine debris in the Baltic Sea aswell. This is how the museum looks like from the outside. Here are our students in front of the Ristna Sea Store sign. The most common components of marine debris in the Baltic Sea are food waste and packages. 31-43% of marine debris are plastic bottles and even 50-63% of marine debris is plastic. Marine debris is harmful for everyone. It causes garbage ingestion and entanglement for marine animals. For marine life it causes accumulation and spread of toxic compounds and garbage deposition. These pictures are illustrative. Ristna Sea Store is organized into different departments and that's why it's called Store. From that exhibition you can find differend findings and their decomposition times in nature. This is how the exhibition looks inside. On this map they have tagged all the countrys where all these findings have came from to the
After acute inhalation, irritation of the eyes, nose, throat, and lungs, as well as cellular changes, such as ciliar lesions and cellular swelling in the upper respiratory tract have been observed. A 4-hour LC50 value of 480 ppm has been determined for rats. The oral LD50 was 600-800 mg/kg b.w. in rats. In humans, no reports of deaths following acute inhalation exposure to formaldehyde were located. In humans, serious ulceration and damage of the gastrointestinal tract have been found after ingestion of formaldehyde (45 ml of a 37 % v/v solution ) or a gulp of a 40 % v/v solution. No reports on deaths following acute inhalation exposure were located. Irritation Skin irritation Studies in Animals Formaldehyde was irritating to the eyes of rabbits. 0.005 ml of a 5% and a 15% aqueous solution was applied to the eyes of rabbits. The scores were read 18 - 20 hours post application. The irritation score was 8 (on a scale of 0 -10). Studies in Humans Formaldehyde causes skin irritation in humans

Kinetics and metabolism The substance can be absorbed into the body by inhalation, through the skin and by ingestion, also as a vapour. The mean lethal dose of aniline may be between 15 and 30 grams. In case of short-term exposure the substance is irritating to the eyes and the skin. The substance may cause effects on the blood, resulting in the formation of methaemoglobin. Exposure at high levels may result in death. Repeated or prolonged contact may cause skin sensitization. The substance may have effects on the blood, resulting in formation of methaemoglobin.

but it is also made from toxic compounds known to cause illness, and because it is meant for durability, it is not biodegradable. Plastic pollution does a lot of damage to the world’s ecosystems. Some of the major long-term effects of plastic pollution are: 1. It upsets the food chain because it comes in sizes large and small, polluting plastics even affects the world’s tiniest organisms such as plankton. When these organisms become poisoned due to plastic ingestion, this causes problems for the larger animals that depend on them for food. This can cause a lot of problems, each step further along the food chain. Plus, it means that plastic are present in the fish that many people eat every day. 2. Groundwater pollution, as the world’s water is in great danger because of leaking plastics and waste. If you’ve ever seen a garbage dump, imagine what happens every time it rains and then imagine that being in your drinking water
