But for me and my class, it's a different story. The grass really is greener anywhere else, actually. Why do we go to school? Do we actually want to learn? I think not. Maybe on some level, until fourth grade or something like that, but most of us are in high school to get good grades, so that parents don't kick us out and still give us food and shelter. How to motivate ourselves to come here every single morning and really study, not just sit with your phone out and watch videos or do something not related to studying to keep from dying of boredom? Estonians: What we're really like In my opinion Estonians are quite serious, we work hard and we're well-educated. We love to travel and a lot of people have a job or go to school somewhere outside Estonia. Ernest Hemingway once said that at least one Estonian can be found in every part of the world. Many of us have emigrated to the US, Canada or Australia. Some of them came back after the restauration of the independence in 1991. Estonia is a quite young country with painful history but I think we've been strong and kept our heads up. We may have a little country but it doesn't mean that the people are small too. The name was first recorded in the description of the second siege of Tallinn in 1577 as Kyck in de Kaeken, later on several forms of the same name were used, such as Kik (Kyk) in de Kok, Kiek in die Küche, Pulffer-Thurm Giecken Köck. In 1696 the present name Kiek in de Kök was also mentioned, meaning "peek into the kitchen" in Low German. And true enough, it was possible to watch what the enemy was doing in their "kitchen" i.e. on position lower down from the about 38m-high tower. Already in the late 15th century the tower was somewhat reconstructed. The outer walls were made thicker and the tower got a diameter of 17.3 m.
