Edgar Allen Poe kirjandus

"Sir," said I, "or Madam, truly your forgiveness I implore; But the fact is I was napping, and so gently you came rapping, And so faintly you came tapping--tapping at my chamber door, That I scarce was sure I heard you"--here I opened wide the door:-- Darkness there and nothing more. Deep into that darkness peering, long I stood there wondering, fearing, Doubting, dreaming dreams no mortal ever dared to dream before; But the silence was unbroken, and the darkness gave no token, And the only word there spoken was the whispered word, "Lenore!" This I whispered, and an echo murmured back the word, "Lenore!" Merely this and nothing more. ..... http://www.blackcatpoems.com/p/the_raven.html "Spirits of the Dead" .... Now are thoughts thou shalt not banish-- Now are visions ne'er to vanish-- From thy spirit shall they pass No more--like dewdrops from the grass. The breeze--the breath of God--is still-- And the mist upon the hill

Monster Magnet - kontserdiarvustus

Monster Magnet on New Jersey bänd, mis alustas aastal 1989. Nende esimest, 1992. aastal ilmunud täispikka plaati ,,Spine of God" loetakse üheks stoner-roki alustalaks ja suunanäitajaks. Plaadile järgnes esimene video, tuur tollal alles tõusva grunge-bändiga Soundgarden ning leping

Savanna

Savanna A savanna is a grassland ecosystem with scattered trees or shrubs. In savannas trees are small or widely spaced so that the canopy does not close. It is often believed that savannas are characterized by widely spaced, scattered trees, however in many savanna communities tree densities are higher and trees are more regularly spaced than in forest communities. The open canopy allows sufficient light to reach the ground to support an unbroken herbaceous layer consisting primarily of C4 grasses. Savannas are also characterised by seasonal water availability, with the majority of rainfall being confined to one season of the year. Savannas can be associated with several types of biomes. Savannas are frequently seen as a transitional zone, occurring between forest and desert or prairie. Although the term savanna is believed to have originally come from a Native American word

Various shapes were united into dominant islands, zones and boundless fields of intense and homogenous color. Expanses of bright hues produced unbroken "color fields" and did not stress sequential linear detail and formal diversity. The mood is one of mystic quietude. A sequence of very short paragraphs creates a jerky rhythm. 6

ESTONIAN SYMPHONIC MUSIC-THE FIRST CENTURY 1896-1996

ESTONIAN SYMPHONIC MUSIC. THE FIRST CENTURY 1896-1996.

The melody of the violins is in a minor key, but the accompanying trumpets are not always connected to this tonality. Example 124. 1 First performed on 25 Mar. 1960 by ERSO, conducted by Roman Matsov. The materials of exposition are close to the central mood, which is both lyric and epic and is coloured by an elegiac hue. It is characteristic that melody follows incessantly after melody with a profound sincerity as if in an unbroken vocalisation. At the beginning of the development section a new theme is exposed: Example 125. Further it branches off into several different images simultaneously. Ilves proves that he is a refined and sensitive master of inflection. This music is introspective: the human being is casting a glance over the path he has trodden. The recapitulation is characterised by a funeral mood. It is not resignation but a great and silent sorrow.

as an excuse not to look at him. It was warm now, warmer than it had been in Forks since the day I'd arrived, almost muggy under the clouds. I pulled off my sweater and knotted it around my waist, glad that I'd worn the light, sleeveless shirt -- especially if I had five miles of hiking ahead of me. I heard his door slam, and looked over to see that he'd removed his sweater, too. He was facing away from me, into the unbroken forest beside my truck. "This way," he said, glancing over his shoulder at me, eyes still annoyed. He started into the dark forest. "The trail?" Panic was clear in my voice as I hurried around the truck to catch up to him. "I said there was a trail at the end of the road, not that we were taking it." "No trail?" I asked desperately. "I won't let you get lost." He turned then, with a mocking smile, and I stifled a gasp. His white shirt was

At first, both services solved all their Japanese diplomatic intercepts. But beginning more than a year before Pearl Harbor, messages originating in Tokyo on odd-numbered days of the month were handled by the Navy, those on even days, by the Army. Each began breaking the messages sent in from its own intercept stations until it reached the Tokyo date of origin; it would then retain them or send them over as the dates indicated. The cryptanalysts utilized the extra time to attack as-yet-unbroken systems and to clean up backlogs. The other method was to concentrate on the important intercepts and let the others slide, at least until the important ones were completed. But how can a cryptanalyst tell which messages are important until he has solved them? He cannot, but he can assume that messages sent in the more secret systems are the more important. All dispatches cannot be transmitted in a single system because the huge volume of traffic would
