63 Abstract Cancer associated thrombosis The main objective of the current research paper is to describe the occurrence of malignancy in VTE patients in in the East-Tallinn Central Hospital in the years 2013 2017. Venous thromboembolism may be the first manifestation of an occult malignancy in an otherwise healthy individual. The first sub-goal is to describe the temporal relationship between the diagnosis of VTE and malignant tumors in the patients of East-Tallinn Central Hospital. The second sub-goal is to describe various tumor localizations in patients with venous thromboembolism. The paper largely draws its statistics from the database of the hospital. For a coherent analysis several statistical methods were used. The results of the survey seem to confirm that patients with cancer are at significantly higher risk of developing, and dying from venous thromboembolism (VTE).
