Nonetheless, epics have been written down at least since the works of Virgil, Dante Alighieri, and John Milton. Many probably would not have survived if not written down. The first epics are known as primary, or original, epics. One such epic is the Old English story Beowulf. Epic Conventions, or characteristics common to both types include: 1. The hero is a figure of great national or even cosmic importance, usually the ideal man of his culture. He often has superhuman or divine traits. He has an imposing physical stature and is greater in all ways than the common man. 2. The setting is vast in scope. It covers great geographical distances, perhaps even visiting the underworld, other wortlds, other times. 3. The action consists of deeds of valor or superhuman courage (especially in battle). 4. Supernatural forces interest themselves in the action and intervene at times. The intervention of the gods is called "machinery
I am Legend One of my favorite movies is the film i am legend. Its starring Will Smith as the sole survivor in the dead city of new york. He place a character named Robert Neville who is a doctor. Most of the people have been killed or transformed into monsters who have high speed and superhuman strentgh. They were turned into those monsters by a medicent that was suppose to cure cancer but it did not. Now the doctor is lookeing for a cure to fix that problem and to survive in the destroyd landescape of New York. His wife and son were killed when the military did the extraction of the city. Now he wonders with his dog. Most of the film about 30 min is all calm. Around 40 min mark they chase a deer wich allmost got them killed. The following days they were
emotion and philosophy. As the text is written in the first person point of view through Grendel's eyes, one gets a quite good picture of him. Unfortunately he is fighting with the inevitable. He keeps attacking and eating the Danish warriors simply because his instincts tell him to do so. He cannot help it; he is still a beast and not his own master. Beowulf undergoes as radical a transformation as Grendel does. The Beowulf of "Grendel" is uncannily superhuman. He is not only supremely strong, but also a cold, mechanical being. He is the only one who can make Grendel suffer physical pain. As the monster sees Beowulf as a terrible being himself and doesn't give him really any human qualities, he is definitely a flat character. Already on the first reading of Gardner's text it strikes out that he has exchanged the metaphors in "Beowulf" for similes, or at least most of them. E.g. "His

He seems more beat up than Bella, who only has a bump on her head, and Edward, who doesn't have a scratch on him. Dr. Carlisle Cullen treats them all and releases Bella to Charlie's custody. Before Bella goes home with Charlie, she confronts Edward about what happened. Despite his insistence that he was standing next to her when the accident happened, Bella knows he was standing across the parking lot and he should not have been able to reach her in time. She also insists that Edward used superhuman strength to keep the van from crushing them. Edward refuses to confirm or deny what Bella claims. He stalks off frustrated and angry when she won't just let the incident drop. At home, Charlie is concerned, but gives Bella her space. Bella has to deal with an hysterical phone call from Renee who demands that Bella return to Phoenix. Bella tells Renee she is staying in Forks. When Bella goes to sleep, she dreams about Edward for the first time.

the media have created of them, and they begin to actually see themselves as superior to ordinary mortals. As a result, they become more and more alienated from themselves and others, more and more unhappy, more and more dependent on their continuing popularity. Surrounded only by people who feed their inflated self-image, they become incapable of genuine relationships. Albert Einstein, who was admired as almost superhuman and whose fate it was to become one of the most famous people on the planet, never identified with the image the collective mind had created of him. He remained humble, egoless. In fact, he spoke of “a grotesque contradiction between what people consider to be my achievements and abilities and the reality of who I am and what I am capable of.”5 This is why it is hard for a famous person to be in a genuine relationship with others. A genuine relationship is one that is not dominated
The composer was seized by the character of Jonah and saw him as a symbol of moral resistance of a minority to the rulers of Nineveh. And the prophet fulfils his mission. Example 6. Leitmotif of God. Example 7. Leitmotif of Jonah. In 1910 Tobias wrote: Ecclesiastical music exists and is a powerful agent that every serious musician must take into consideration, whether he wishes it or not. Mystical threads are invisibly connecting musical art and the religious world proceeding between superhuman and mysticism. The composers of today are lacking the organ of interest in transcendental matters, but in most cases they have not found timely contents for traditional forms of sacred music. 3 1 26 Nov. 1909, in Andreas Church, Tobias conducting. 2 Vardo Rumessen, Rudolf Tobias ja tema oratoorium “Joonase lähetamine” (R. safe. In utter disregard of the regulations promulgated for the security of communications, the embassy had hired an elderly Negro janitor named Robert to dust and clean the code room and its supersecret furnishings each day. The code clerks did make some obeisance to the security regulations by not allowing him in the room unless some Japanese were in it. But the situation was, to say the least, ironical. While the Japanese Foreign Office was exercising almost superhuman security precautions and American cryptanalysts were suffering nervous breakdowns to solve the PURPLE machine, an American citizen was running his duster over tables on which stood the intricate machines that were the vortex of this silent struggle. But just as the Japanese seemed not to have given serious thought to the possibility of Robert's being a spy, so the Americans seemed to have given no serious thought to the possibility that a spy might have been
