serious illness (there are so many, you can never count them up), being in a serious accident and all of the different consequences that might have, having a fire in your home, losing your home, and so on. You can count the things that might happen endlessly. I'm not trying to be paranoid, but the sad fact is, something will happen to every one of us. And that is the hard part of the real life - handling a situation like that. The question is, after sufferings like that, how can people still say that life is beautiful? I guess it's all in your head. Whether you accept that something has happened and you try to make the best out of it and do anything that makes your life great again, or you sit sadly and pity yourself, unable to fix anything. The slogans like "Look at the sunny side of everything", "After the rain always comes the sun", "Be happy with what you have, not with what you

Using the old language of heroic poetry, The Cross represents itself as the loyal follower of a lord who inexplicably wills his own death. In a normal battle to obey your leader's command is to help defend his life, but for this follower it is to serve his lord's absolute will for death by remaining rigidly upright (to stand fast). The Cross speaks for the bewildered humanity of the dreamer, but also for the suffering humanity of Christ. The Cross himself participates in Christ's sufferings and it can also participate in his glory. After the Crucifixion he is first buried and then raised up and honored (like Christ). The vision has come full circle and now the dreamer can also hope to participate, as one ordinary tree has done, in that victory. The poem ends in a mood of confidence. Now the dreamer can bear solitude and the loss of friends on earth though he sees the way open to a `heavenly home'. 3. The Gen. Charst. Of OE poetry and prose

time (nature of the object could be changed during the armed conflict), offer a definite military advantage. If soldiers leave the object and then there's now a hospital, it is not a military object anymore. E.g. USA bombed the Chinese embassy in Yugoslavia. Before there was the blabla ministry, but it moved and the US failed to figure it out. Principle of proportionality the sufferings of the civilians should be smaller than the military advantage. Also, there's a difference between bombing a clear military objective and a military objective near civilian objects. The latter should not be targeted. If there are civilians on a military object, then the civilians should bear the risk that the military object could be destroyed and the attack would be legitimate. In case of doubt whether an object is to be considered a civilian object

children. It is the same story all over the continent. Even now when there is a pandemic of AIDS, Africans in America seem unconcerned. There is the war in Sierra Leone, where thousands of children and women have been raped, decapitated and murdered. Africans in America have not lifted a finger of protest against these genocides. The African in America does not understand what it means to be committed to a principle of alleviating the sufferings of their people. They are much more concerned with their stupid importance, where everybody is “a chief and,” as they say in America, “no Indians.” I have yet to find a group of Africans in America who have decided to volunteer to go to Africa for any relief work. Yet, they express all kinds of anger when they see a Caucasian man or woman carrying an African child, or leading a group of wounded children or women, in any war torn area in Africa

to characterise her style, and which, proceeding from the serenity of a mind at ease with itself and kindly disposed towards everyone, had been scarcely ever clouded. Elizabeth noticed every sentence conveying the idea of uneasiness, with an attention which it had hardly received on the first perusal. Mr. Darcy's shameful boast of what misery he had been able to inflict, gave her a keener sense of her sister's sufferings. It was some consolation to think that his visit to Rosings was to end on the day after the next--and, a still greater, that in less than a fortnight she should herself be with Jane again, and enabled to contribute to the recovery of her spirits, by all that affection could do. She could not think of Darcy's leaving Kent without remembering that his cousin was to go with him; but Colonel Fitzwilliam had made it clear that he had no intentions at all, and

climax to vast religious pageants, and they were carefully designed to bring about the emotional effect that Aristode called catharsis, a feeling of pity and fear evoked by watching the unfolding fate of a hero. T h e hero of a Greek tragedy was a stand-in for the old god-king, undergoing a sacrificial death on behalf of all the members of the society, and bringing about a catharsis in the members of the audience through sympathy with his or her sufferings.
