Charles Spencer Chaplin

In 1918 he formed his own company and started producing films. He produced 80 films and in 79 of them he played the central character. Many have said that he was the greatest comic genius of all time. What made his comedy so popular was the sympathy for human beings of the oddest sorts as well as for the ordinary people. The life of his characters was full of misfortunes, but the always overcame their despair with courage and determination. Although he denied any social meaning in his films he ridiculed the values of society mercilessly. In "Modern Times" he showed the terrible working conditions at the production line in a giant US factory. His first full length talkie "The Great Dictator" was an anti-fascist masterpiece ridiculing Hitler. After WW II he spoke out against the McCarthy witch-hunts against communists. For that he was deprived of the right to live in US. He said he would never go back, but in 1972 he went back to accept the highest prize in the film industry an Oscar Reward.

from some war, is high-minded, gentle-humoured and tries to live according to the ideals of courtly love, although he doesn't understand that this code of behaviour is slowly disappearing. The Squire is his young son who has curly hair, is high-spirited and wears a white-sleeved gown embroidered with red flowers who also thinks he is a typical courtly lover. Most of the clerics are ridiculed. E.g. the Monk doesn't pray, he hunts. He is fat, doesn't fast a lot, rides a good horse and is richly dressed. He is still presented in good nature. The Parson is poor but is rich of holy thought and work. The Student rides an extremely lean horse, is poor, dresses threadbare his clothes are shabby because he spends all his money on books. He represents the spirit of learning.

marriages and the introduction of English marriages, where young people decide on their own who to marry: "The French fashion-of the parents arranging their children's future-was not accepted; it was condemned. The English fashion of the complete independence of girls was also not accepted, and not possible in Russian society. The Russian fashion of matchmaking by the officer of intermediate persons was for some reason considered disgraceful; it was ridiculed by everyone, and by the princess herself. But how girls were to be married, and how parents were to marry them, no one knew." The princess feels uncomfortable with the change but recognizes that Kitty's marriage has to involve a mixture of parental guidance and free choice. The prince feels that if Kitty marries Vronsky, she might run into the same difficulties Dolly ran into with Stiva, since both men are from the same general background. Cats

In the early days of the cat fancy, longhaired breeds competed against each other; the Persian was preferred over the Turkish Angora and the Russian Longhair (Russian Angora), so much so that any resemblance to the Angora was later frowned upon by cat fanciers. In 1870, the Honourable Lady Cust produced a book called "The Cat" (in which she perceptively wrote "In the present day, a love for cats appears chiefly permitted to 'elderly spinsters,' and is often even ridiculed") in which she described the longhair thus: "Of the wild cat, there is supposed to be only one species, which extends with trifling variety of colour over all parts of the world, the difference from the tame variety being more in the internal than in the external structures, its intestines being the shortest and smalles of all the quadrupeds. necessary part of human awakening. Inevitably, they were mostly misunderstood by their contemporaries, as well as by subsequent generations. Their teachings, although both simple and powerful, became distorted and misinterpreted, in some cases even as they were recorded in writing by their disciples. Over the centuries, many things were added that had nothing to do with the original teachings, but were reflections of a fundamental misunderstanding. Some of the teachers were ridiculed, reviled, or killed; others came to be worshipped as gods. Teachings that pointed the way beyond the dysfunction o the human mind, the way out of the collective insanity, were distorted and became themselves part of the insanity. And so religions, to a large extent, became divisive rather than unifying forces. Instead of bringing about an ending of violence and hatred through a realization of the fundamental oneness of all life, they brought

CHANGE YOUR THINKING CHANGE YOUR LIFE

The entire focus of the brainstorming session is on generating the greatest quantity of ideas possible within a short period of time. Nothing kills a brainstorming session faster than the tendency of people to criticize the ideas as they are generated. As soon as one person’s ideas are criticized, the brainstorming session comes to a halt. No one wants to be criticized. No one wants to be humiliated or ridiculed in front of others. That is why you must concentrate on the quantity of ideas and leave the evaluation of them to another time, or to other people. Step Three: Set a specific time limit. The ideal length for brain- storming sessions ranges from 15 to 45 minutes. One of the jobs of managers and team leaders is to sit their staff down on a regular ba- sis to brainstorm certain problems. Call everyone together and an-
