In 1660 London welcomed the restoration of the monarchy. The second half of the century was even more devastating. Two Disasters stroke London. The Great Plague and the Great Fire. The Great Plague in 1665, killed a significant part of the population, but it was not until after the Great Fire in 1666 that London became safe again. The Great Fire was even more catastrophic to the buildings of London. It destroyed almost four fifths of London in the raging inferno, including St Paul's Cathedral. Christopher Wren was appointed to oversee the rebuilding of London. Wren was given the task of rebuilding the churches, including St. Paul's Cathedral. Africa. Africans have trouble understanding why, with a 13% make up of America’s population, African- Americans continue to sit idly by when the American government continues to spend billions and billions in other parts of the world other than Africa. When it comes to Africa, it is pittance. Russia, China, India, Pakistan, Israel, Brazil are just countries where America spends billions. America is ready to pour billions into conflicts like the one raging in Kosovo, when Africans have been left to their own devices, with America looking the other way to conflicts in Africa. If Africa was to receive just one percent of the amount spent by America on other areas, it would certainly lead to more progress in several African countries. The question, of course, is how could a group which has not been able to solve its own problem to be able to help their brethren overseas.

"Shall we?" he asked, rising fluidly. I almost groaned. Time for Gym. I stood with care, worried my balance might have been affected by the strange new intensity between us. He walked me to my next class in silence and paused at the door; I turned to say goodbye. His face startled me -- his expression was torn, almost pained, and so fiercely beautiful that the ache to touch him flared as strong as before. My goodbye stuck in my throat. He raised his hand, hesitant, conflict raging in his eyes, and then swiftly brushed the length of my cheekbone with his fingertips. but also to the illusion of ego. There is a paradox here. On the one hand, how can we deny the reality of time? You need it to go from here to there, to prepare a meal, build a house, read this book. You need time to grow up, to learn new things. Whatever you do seems to take time. everything is subject to it and eventually “this bloody tyrant time,” as Shakespeare calls it, is going to kill you. You could compare it to a raging river that drags you along with it, or a fire in which everything is consumed. I recently met some old friends, a family I had not seen in a long time, and I was shocked when I saw them. I almost asked, “Are you ill? What happened? Who did this to you?” The mother, who walked with a cane, seemed to have shrunk in size, her face shriveled like an old apple. The daughter , who had been full of energy, enthusiasm, and the expectations of
association principle well enough to try to link themselves to positive events and separate themselves from negative events-even when they have not caused the events. Some of the strangest of such behavior takes place in the great arena of sports. The actions of the athletes are not the issue, though. After all, in the heated contact of the game, they are entitled to an occasional eccentric outburst. Instead, it is the often raging, irrational, boundless fervor of sports fans that seems, on its face, so puzzling. How can we account for wild sports riots in Europe, or the mur- der of players and referees by South American soccer crowds gone berserk, or the unnecessary lavishness of gifts provided by local fans to already wealthy American ballplayers on the special "day" set aside to honor them? Rationally, none of this makes sense. It's just a game! Isn't it? Hardly
