during our recent flight on the Eagle Airlines Flight 6048 from Gatwick to Rio de Janeiro on the 26th March at 10.35 pm. Firstly, when we got on the plane, the seats were so cramped that it was impossible to sit on them (although we were promised to travel in style and comfort) and the air stewards didn't even greet us. They sat in the corner and yawned. In addition to previous none of us didn't dare to use the toilets toilets were filthy. We were told that during the flight it's possible to read free newspaper and enjoy feature film. At first there were no newspaper and secondly we could see only children's cartoon. Even though there were no children on the flight. Regrettably we were not happy with the ,,full meal with wine". We were offered only cold snacks. What's more, the air stewards were rude and unhelpful. Why do you promise friendly staff if you don't have any?
The heat created by the fire was so great that the lead roof on the old St Paul's Cathedral melted. The actual human casualty rate was remarkably small with possibly only 5 people dying in this fire. The wind that had helped the fire spread, turned on itself and drove the flames back into what had already been burned. Therefore, the fire had nothing to ignite and the fire died out. The Great Fire had burned down 84 churches and the old St Paul's. However, it had also destroyed the filthy streets associated the Great Plague. It was now up to the city's authority's to re-build and re-plan the city. This task was given to Sir Christopher Wren.

He goes to poor and filthy places in London, has very destructive influence on his friends and doesn't value anything. When Basil tries to help him, Dorian loses his temper and kills Basil. After that crime the only thing Dorian thinks of is how to get rid of the body. With sin his portrait becomes more and more hideous. On one evening when he is watching this painting he stabs the portrait with a knife in a moment of madness. The result is that the real Dorian dies and changes into the hideous
There are also people who don't mean to be impolite but tend to be because of their lack of knowledge. For example it is easy to mix up Japanese and Chinese. At the same time a simple mistake like this may hurt another person's feelings. Also when a person comes from a different society where different names for coloured people have different values. For example if one comes from Estonia where calling dark skinned people "black" could also be interpreted as they were filthy then he or she could easily offend someone by calling them "negro". In another language it is the polite way but in London it isn't. I think it would help to do some research before travelling and not to refer to coloured people with nicknames but with their real names. Racism is a serious problem not only in London but everywhere where different races meet. I don't think it has a solution but it could help to teach young people tolerance and acceptance.

It was found out that in all the broiler farms there were dead and crippled birds. It can be said that most of these problems exict because there is not enough space for birds. They are kept in huge factory sheds, each containing 15,000-25,000 animals. It also means that individual care is impossible which also leads to the fact that those animals suffer day after day for all their life. In almost every pig farm there were many inadmissible problems. For example, pigs were kept in filthy confined pens, they had scars and injuries. Usually they were bodily harmed because of the lack of space. In every third visited piggery there were dead pigs. Furthermore, carcasses were left among the other pigs. In all the visited chicken farms their habitants were stressed and often had signs of pecking. In many of these farms there were dead hens and the corpses were decayed. It is obvious that this is a huge health risk for all the other animals in the farm.

He means fairly precisely that his room-mate is a filthy slob. (Had he instead found the apartment neat and clean but all the good food gone because his room-mate had scarfed it, he might have said "You pig!" meaning that his room-mate is a glutton.) So I think Davidson has overstated his case by overlooking facts of speaker-meaning. On the other hand, just as Davidson says, writers who strew fresh literary metaphors, far from always having determinate speaker-meanings, may have no speaker-meanings or other propositional intent at all
