Is It a Crime to Download Music Free of Charge? Nowadays, a lot of people listen to music on their computer and most of the time they download it illegally. I obviously understand that it is illegal and we should not do it but the question is, should we be able to do it legally. To begin with, music is a big part of our lives. If children were not given the ability to cheer them up with music, the depression levels would definitely be higher, as well as less motivation in children. For an example, the average American child listens to 4 hours of music in a day. I personally listen to at least 5 hours of music a day and all that from the computer when I get home. Secondly, the artists would not have such big crowds at their shows and concerts. This way, the artists are getting more recognition and popularity.
