The First Years of the School: Reval Gymnasium

The First Years of the School: Reval Gymnasium In the beginning the school was upheld by the city of Tallinn and it’s knighthood. The school was meant for the sons of the noblemen and citizens. There were 4 professors and 2 colleagues. Students studied reading, writing, maths, theology, music, Latin, Greek, Hebrew, law, poetry, speech, geography, history and philosophy. Older students studied in Latin. Music was very important. There were four classes: quarta, tertia, secunda and prima, prima being the last and quarta the lowest grade. The head of school was a rector. For the first 15 years the rector was Heinrich Vulpius whose Gymnasium Laws (show the picture) were used for more than a century. The set of laws influenced the life of the students a lot. They designated how the students were supposed to act in the school and in their free time. Keiser Nikolai I esitlus

Gustav Adolfi Gümnaasium Referaat 1890-1917 Keiser Nikolai I Gümnaasium Tallinn 2014 1.Õppetöö 1890.aastal muudeti kooli nime Gymnasium des Kaisers Nikolai I ning sellega kaasnes mitmeid ümberkorraldusi. Kõige tähtsamaks kujunes üleminek saksakeelselt õppetöölt venekeelsele. See ümberkorraldus lõppes 1892.aastal, sest siis toimusid küpsuseksamid esmakordselt kõigis aineis vene keeles. Saksa keelt kasutati edaspidi vaid saksa keele ning luteriusulistele ettenähtud usuõpetuse tundides. Samal aastal piirati ka saksakeelse lektüüri kasutamist. Vene keelne õppetöö ei seganud eestlaseid, kuna neil tuli endiselt õppida ning kaasõpilastega suhelda võõrkeeles. Sakslased proovisid tihti sellest keelust üle astuda, kuni riputati kahe korruse vahele trepiplatvormile plakat hoiatusega: „Gümnaasiumi ruumised on kõvasti keeatud rääkida saksa keelt!“ (Kennik, Laul, Liim, Naber, Sirk, 1981) Lisaks e...

Tallinn Lillekyla Gymnasium Report Legends of Tallinn Tallinn 2009 Introduction I chose the topic ,,Legends of Tallinn", because I had heard some splendid myths about Tallinn from my history lessons and I was eager to widen my horizon. I am quite interested in history in general and I especially love tales about medieval Tallinn. I hope that I will find out some entertaining stories to tell my friends. Legends of Tallinn There are many interesting legends about buildings or sights in Tallinn. Nobody can tell, if they are all true or not, but at least they make the medieval capital much more intriguing and attractive for tourists as for the locals. How Ülemiste Elder will drown the town The most known legend of Tallinn is pro...

Kunda Gymnasium Rait Türkel Old Tallinn Report Instructor:Teacher Kristi Aron Kunda 2012 Introduction Like most cities with an eight-hundred-year-old past, Tallinn is a patchwork of historic areas. It is situated on the northern coast of the country, on the shore of the Gulf of Finland, 80 km south of Helsinki, east of Stockholm and west of Saint Petersburg. Project ESTONIA MAP OF ESTONIA Southern Viljandimaa The southern part of Viljandi county catches the eye with its sublime scenery. The area today lies in the very heart of the historical Mulgimaa the home of hills, deep valleys and lakes brought together by a beauty spot Halliste primeval valley. According to several folk tales, it is also in these valleys, woods and bogs that Old Nick found refuge. The great variety displayed in the nature is also reflected in the local cultural heritage. At the beginning of the 19th century growing linen spread and became the basis of the legendary wealth of Mulgi farms. The ancient barn-dwellings and decaying manor houses are the mute witnesses of those times. The riches and cultural heritage of Mulgimaa owe to the diligence and tenacity of the local people. Village handicraftsmen and masters have always been honoured. Mulgikapsad (stewed sauerkraut with barley gro...
