Fame is a Fickle Food

Fame is a Fickle Food

"Fame is a Fickle Food" by Emily Dickinson Analysis Liisi Pajula In her poem "Fame is a Fickle Food", Emily Dickinson quite clearly compares fame to something very changing and uncertain. She compares it to food, which at first seems tempting, but is actually venomous and deadly. From the very beginning of the poem, we get the idea that Dickinson has her mind set against fame and those, who run after it. With using words such as 'fickle' and 'shifting' she very successfully demonstrates that fame is not permanent and should thus be handled with care. Dickinson also says that true fame is something one can achieve only once ("Whose table once a Guest, but not / The second time is set").

Essay on Iron Man

Tony Stark had graduated with advanced degrees in physics and engineering at the age of 17 from Massachusetts Institute of Technology. When imprisoned and forced to create a weapon of mass destuction in the movie Iron Man, Stark was able to build an armor suit and a reactor to escape. His extensive knowledge about quantum mechanics and artificial intelligence helped him to produce a new element his father had discovered which saved his life in Iron Man 2, replacing venomous palladium in his chest. Iron Man's main strength was Tony Stark's intelligence. A plausible character needs to have weaknesses alongside his strengths. Tony Stark was an extreme example of the celebrity stereotype narcissistic, flashy, arrogant and rude. His dual life as a superhero caused him numerous personal problems. For example, he repeatedly suffered from alcoholism. Iron Man's heart condition was his other weakness worth mentioning

Australia has a large diversity of reptiles, with over 860 species. The most diverse group are the snakes and lizards. The snakes and lizards are especially diverse in the arid areas of Australia, where diversity of other fauna is generally low. Spinifex grass is a major habitat which allows them to remain in a relatively cool, moist area. Australia has a large array of reptiles which can be dangerous to humans. All of the top ten most venomous snakes are native to Australia, [2] and the world's largest reptile, the Saltwater Crocodile is native to Australia. It is often said to be the most dangerous to humans. This crocodile is an opportunistic predator capable of taking animals up to the size of a water buffalo, either in the water or on dry land. The larger the animal grows, the greater the variety of items that it includes in the diet. Saltwater crocodiles

necessary. The strength, the speed, the acute senses, not to mention those of us like Edward, Jasper, and I, who have extra senses as well. And then, like a carnivorous flower, we are physically attractive to our prey." I was very still, remembering how pointedly Edward had demonstrated the same concept for me in the meadow. She smiled a wide, ominous smile. "We have another fairly superfluous weapon. We're also venomous," she said, her teeth glistening. "The venom doesn't kill -- it's merely incapacitating. It works slowly, spreading through the bloodstream, so that, once bitten, our prey is in too much physical pain to escape us. Mostly superfluous, as I said. If we're that close, the prey doesn't escape. Of course, there are always exceptions. Carlisle, for example." "So... if the venom is left to spread..." I murmured.

A full confes- sion frequently follows. Good Cop/Bad Cop works as well as it does for several reasons: The fear oflong incarceration is quickly instilled by Bad Cop's threats; the perceptual contrast prin- ciple (see Chapter 1) ensures that compared to the raving, venomous Bad Cop, the interrogator playing Good Cop will seem like an especially reasonable and kind per- son (Kamisar, 1980); and because Good Cop has intervened repeatedly on the sus- pect's behalf-has even spent his own money for a cup of coffee-the reciprocity rule pressures for a return favor (Rafaeli 8z Sutton, 1991). The main reason that the technique is effective, though, is that it gives the suspect the idea that there is
