Ireland report

There are no snakes and only one reptile native to Ireland, the common lizard. There are three amphibians, the common frog, the smooth newt and the natterjack toad. Certain marine turtle species appear regularly off the south west coast but do not come ashore. Flags of Ireland The state flag applying to Northern Ireland is the Union Flag of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. The state flag of the Republic of Ireland is the Tricolour. The history of the Irish Tricolour bearing the colours green for the Catholic majority, orange for William of Orange the Protestant King (and his followers) and white for the desired peace between them, goes back to the middle of the 19th century.[11] History Ireland was mostly ice-covered and joined by land to Britain and continental Europe during the last ice age. It has been inhabited for about 9,000 years. Stone age inhabitants arrived sometime after 8000 BC. Irish Independence: The Irish Free State, Éire, Ireland

eventually winning the Home Rule Act 1914, though suspended on the outbreak of World War I. In 1922, after the Irish War of Independence, the southern twenty-six counties of Ireland seceded from the United Kingdom (UK) to become the independent Irish Free State -- and after 1948, the Republic of Ireland. The remaining six north eastern counties, known as Northern Ireland, remained part of the UK. The Irish tricolour I chose the Irish history, because I have always loved history and reading/writing about it. Estonia's economy was one of the fastest growing economies in the world until 2006 with growth rates exceeding 10% annually. The GDP (Gross Domestic Product) grew 8% in 2007 alone. In the first quarter of 2008, however, GDP grew only 0.1%. Estonia is nearly energy independent, producing 90% of its electricity needs with locally mined oil shale. Oil shale energy along with electronics, banking and IT solutions are some of the key sectors of the economy. The flag of Estonia is a tricolour featuring three equal horizontal bands of blue, black and white in the downwards order. The Estonian flag first came to prominence in the 1880s as the flag of the Estonian Students' Society at the University of Tartu. The flag became associated with Estonian nationalism and was used as the national flag when the Declaration of Independence was issued in 1918. During occupations, the flag has been banned several times.

people could find shelter in case of danger or war. Today Toompea attracts many visitors who come here to admire the panorama of Tallinn. Tall Hermann is in the Upper Town. It is the best-known corner tower among the three surviving ones of Toompea Castle. It is 46 metres high and serves as one of Estonia's landmarks. Tall Hermann was a traditional name given to the main towers of German castles. After the 50-year-long Soviet occupation, the Estonian blue-black- and-white tricolour was once again hoisted on Pikk Hermann on 24 February 1989. There are several viewing points in the Upper Town. It is a must for everybody visiting Tallinn. For example on of them overlooks the Kopli peninsula, the Baltic Railway Station, the sea and the Tower Square. From other viewing points one can see the Lower Town with its red roofs that are breathtakingly beautiful. The Lower Town is full of different interesting places. event. The Flag Museum attracts tourists who take an interest in the history of the flag. After about half a century, during which it was prohibited by the Soviet authorities, the flag was sen again in public for the first time in Tartu. Many elderly people were carrying the flags they had kept in secret hiding places durin the Soviet years; tears were rolling down their cheeks. On 24 February 1989, Estonia, still part of the Soviet Union, hoisted its tricolour on the tower of Pikk Hermann in Tallinn. Since then the flag has always been hoisted with ceremony on that day, which is the national holiday the anniversary of the Republic. According to Estonian tradition the national flag is hoisted at sunrise and lowered at sunset exept on June 23 when it is left out for the shortest night of the year. Historically, the fortress on Toompea consisted of two parts : the small fortress (today's Toompea Castle) and the big fortress (The rest of Toompea). Pikk Hermann is the best-known corner tower among the three surviving ones of Toompea Castle. It is 46 metres high and serves as one of Estonia's landmarks. Tall Hermann was a traditional name given to the main towers of German castles. After the 50-year long Soviet occupation, the Estonian blue-black-white tricolour was once again hoisted on Pikk Hermann on 24 February 1989. The Cathedral of St. Mary the Virgin (Toomkirik or the Dome Church) was consecrated as a single- nave church with a rectangular chancel in 1240, and rebuilt into a Gothic basilica thereafter. The church suffered in the fire of 1684 and was largely reconstructed. A baroque tower was added in the 18th century and the dated weather-vane (1779) crowning the spire is the only original one on Toompea today.

Rome. These banners were generally called `pallia' and like the previously mentioned cloak of Mohammed, they were originally garments. It is interesting to note that pallia were dedicated to St. Augustine (354-430), Charlemagne (742- 814), and William the Conqueror (1028-1087). The cloak of St. Martin was another garment that was turned into a flag, which later became a cult object of Frankish kings and even influenced the choice of blue as part of the modern French tricolour. Meanwhile the power that finally led to the creation of the Mongol Empire arose in Asia. Many of the Mongol standards displayed a device, a `flaming trident', reproducing the blades of a trident with flames surrounding them. The flag of the Khan himself consisted of nine yak-tails hanging from a rack of crossbars. After the conquest of China lateral flags were used, still with the horsetail and the flaming trident. The

DIFFERENT TYPES OF PIEBALD The diagram above shows a typical progression from solid colour through to solid white. The number by each diagram is the "Grade" of spotting from Grade 0 (no spotting) through to Grade 10 (white spotting has obscured all of the base colour). The "solid colour" can be one of the true solid colours e.g. black or grey, or a tabby colour or tortoiseshell (the bicolour is then known as a calico and is actually a tricolour). Non-pedigree cats have a diverse range of combinations not recognised in the pedigree world - the "solid" area can be Abyssinian ticked (Aby-and-white), smoke, shaded or tipped. Black-smoke-and white is an attractive combination if not actually encouraged! The Van pattern seen in pedigree Turkish Van cats and in the Seychellois (a Van-patterned Oriental) is Grade 8 - Grade 9 Piebald and represents the most extreme of the 'Seychelles' patterns

Nende pea kuju on tõu aadliseisuse tunnus. Kui mõelda kollile, siis kindlasti mõnedele inimestele tuleb kohe meelde pikk nina. Tegelikult on neil pealagi koonuga samapikk, aga nad kulgevad paralleelselt, kuid üleminek koonule on märgatav. Kollide silmad on südamliku ilmega. Nad on keskmise suurusega, mandlikujulised ja lähestikku. Kõigil kollidel on väikesed poolpüstised kõrvad
