Squirrel and chipmunk

Some species hibernate in the winter, but some don’t. Chimpunks typically live about three years, but there have been some, who live nine years. Squirrels are familiar to almost everyone. More than 200 squirrel species live all over the world, with the notable exception of Australia. The most common European squirrels are red or brown color, while common American squirrels are grey or black. The tail is long and typically very-very bushy. Squirrels weight between 14 gramms and 1 kilo. The tiniest squirrel is only thirteen centimeters long from nose to tail, but the Indian giant squirrel is almost a meter long. Squirrels are commonly seen everywhere from woodlands to city parks. Though they are terrific climbers, squirrels do come to the ground in search of food such as nuts, acorns, berries, and flowers. They also eat bark, eggs, or baby birds. Some of the species hibernate and some don’t. Squirrels can live 5 to 10 years in the wild. Some can survive 10 to 20 years in captivity.

The piston starts at the top, the intake valve opens, and the piston moves down to let the engine take in a cylinder-full of air and gasoline. This is the intake stroke. Only the tiniest drop of gasoline needs to be mixed into the air for this to work. (Part 1 of the figure) 2. Then the piston moves back up to compress this fuel/air mixture. Compression makes the explosion more powerful. (Part 2 of the figure) 3. When the piston reaches the top of its stroke, the spark plug emits a spark to ignite the gasoline. The gasoline charge in the cylinder explodes, driving the piston down. (Part 3 of the figure) 4

ENVIRONMENTAL PROBLEMS

Plastic is an incredibly useful material, but it is also made from toxic compounds known to cause illness, and because it is meant for durability, it is not biodegradable. Plastic pollution does a lot of damage to the world’s ecosystems. Some of the major long-term effects of plastic pollution are: 1. It upsets the food chain because it comes in sizes large and small, polluting plastics even affects the world’s tiniest organisms such as plankton. When these organisms become poisoned due to plastic ingestion, this causes problems for the larger animals that depend on them for food. This can cause a lot of problems, each step further along the food chain. Plus, it means that plastic are present in the fish that many people eat every day. 2. Groundwater pollution, as the world’s water is in great danger because of leaking plastics and waste

expertly swiping an iPad not to mention countless teenagers, smartphone in hand, lost to the real world as they tap out texts. It's ten years since the publication of my book, Toxic Childhood, which warned of the dangers of too much screen-time on young people's physical and mental health. My fears have been realised. Though I was one of the first to foresee how insidiously technology would penetrate youngsters' lives, even I've been stunned at how quickly even the tiniest have become slaves to screens. Indeed, when my book came out, Facebook had just hit our shores and we were more concerned with violent video games and children watching too much TV. Today, on average, children spend five to six hours a day staring at screens. And they're often on two or more screens at once for example, watching TV while playing on an iPad. Because technology moves so fast, and children have embraced it so quickly, it's been difficult for

A New Earth

Every time you are present when the pain-body arises, some of the pain-body's negative emotional energy will burn up, as it were, and become transmuted into Presence. The rest of the pain-body will quickly withdraw and wait for a better opportunity to rise again, that is to say, when you are less conscious. A better opportunity for the pain-body to arise may come whenever you lose Presence, perhaps after you have had a few drinks or while watching a violent film. The tiniest negative motion, such as being irritated or anxious, can also serve as a doorway through which the pain- body can return. The pain-body needs your unconsciousness. It cannot tolerate the light of Presence. THE PAIN-BODY AS AN AWAKENER At first sight, it may seem that the pain-body is the greatest obstacle to the arising of a new consciousness in humanity. It occupies your mind, controls and distorts your thinking, disrupts you relationships, and feels like
