WHAT IS OVERFISHING?: Overfishing can be defined in a number of ways. However, everything comes down to one simple point: Catching too much fish for the system to support leads to an overall degradation (degrödašon) to the system. Overfishing is a non-sustainable use of the oceans. WHAT IS CAUSING OVERFISHING?: Worldwide, fishing fleets are two to three times as large as needed to take present day catches of fish and other marine species (spiišis) and as what our oceans can sustainably support. On a global scale we have enough fishing capacity (cäpaseti) to cover at least four Earth like planets. On top of the overcapacity many fishing methods (methouds) are unsustainable in their own way. These methods have a large impact on the basic functioning of our marine ecosystems (ikousistem). These unselective fishing practices and gear cause tremendous destruction on non target (taaged) species. Bycatch and discards and bottom trawling destruction are two examples of this.
-- and schooled in a culture of idealism that's uniquely 21st century, those in search of shared housing and compatible mates are crafting come-ons that are as far removed from, say, "female nonsmoker wanted" as a business card is from a doctoral thesis. Consider the efforts of Ms. Berger, 28, and Ms. Hazard, 24, who advertised eloquently for roommates before even settling on a house: "Some of the things we like are: permaculture, living sustainably, gardening, dancing, hula hooping, yoga, herbalism, making music, active listening, non-violent communication ..." they wrote, in part. The idea, they said last week, was that the relationships would be more important than the real estate. What they hoped to put together was a kind of family, but without sibling rivalry or parents, of course; the thought was that everyone would do the dishes without grumbling.
4% in 2011. At the end of 2011 the government turned to the IMF and the EU to obtain a new loan for foreign currency debt and bond obligatins in 2012 and beyond. Whether negotiations result in a loan depend on Hungary meeting EU and IMF requirements for ensuring the independence of monetary, judicial, and data privacy institutions. The EU also launched an Excessive Deficit Procedure and requested that the government outline measures to sustainably reduce the budget deficit to under 3% of GDP. Unemployment remained high, at more than 11% in 2011. Ongoing economic weakness in Western Europe is likely to further constrain growth in 2012 (Central Intelligence Agency, 2012, ISSN 15538133). 3 Economic Indicators Comparison 3.1 Real GDP growth rate Analyzing the graph, we can notice that the real GDP growth rate has been rising and falling most in Estonia
future to consider. Although it’s true that we cannot physically stop our ozone layer from thinning there are still so many things we can do. Sustainability is the key to prevent or reduce the effect of environmental issues. There is now clear scientific evidence that humanity is living unsustainably, and that an unprecedented collective effort is needed to return human use of natural resources to within sustainable limits. For humans to live sustainably, the Earth's natural resources must be used at a rate at which they can be replenished. Concerns for the environment have prompted the formation of green parties, political parties that seek to address environmental issues. Initially these were formed in Australia, New Zealand and Germany but are now present in many other countries. By raising awareness about these issues, we can help contribute to a more environmentally conscious and friendly place for us to live. ADDITIONAL TASKS
education did not serve as an adequate barrier to barbarity. What was wrong with their education? In Wiesel's words: "It emphasized theories instead of values, concepts rather than human beings, abstraction rather than consciousness, answers instead of questions, ideology and efficiency rather than conscience." The same could be said of the way our education has prepared us to think about the natural world. It is a matter of no small consequence that the only people who have lived sustainably on the planet for any length of time could not read, or, like the Amish, do not make a fetish of reading. My point is simply that education is no guarantee of decency, prudence, or wisdom. More of the same kind of education will only compound our problems. This is not an argument for ignorance, but rather a statement that the worth of education must now be measured against the standards of decency and human survival -
travelling expressly to a country for its work opportunities and/or opportunities for casual employment while travelling overseas. These latter two methods largely reflect Uriely’s (2001) description of a ‘non-institutionalised working tourist’, wherein work while travelling is aimed at financing a prolonged trip. Whilst this practice is typically depicted as unskilled work, Felipe (Cuban, 29) subverted this assignment through the use of technology, by sustainably financing his travel through IT work attended to whilst backpacking. Technology thus allowed Felipe to dislocate work from place through virtual commuting. Charlotte (Canadian, 26), who funded her trips through intensive stints of bartending in Canada, exemplified how intermittent work in her own country allowed her to maintain her lifestyle: As soon as I get back I’m like, okay, got to work, and immediately have a next place in mind. Always working towards the next trip
ecovillages (Damanhur, Sieben Linden ja Tamera) and their kindergartens and in 3 comparable organisations in Estonia (Community of Lilleoru, Rosma waldorfkindergarten and in 1 municipal kindergarten „Pallipõnn” in Tallinn). Empirical suvery I was carried out from february to march 2010-2012. As a result of this survey, it was concluded that 1) in order to learn sustainability and the principes of community it is first necessary to create or visit an environment that already lives sustainably; 2) the example and participation of the parents in the learning process is essential and 3) direct contact with nature elements and the maximum time spent in nature supports the process of learning and respecting nature elements. Based on the practice of ecovillages and the ideas of outdoor learning, Reggio Emilia, waldorfpedagogics and the national curriculum a methodical material was created. The 4
