and fermented to produce ethanol in the manufacture of beer, whisky and biofuel. It is processed to produce many of the sugars used in processed foods. The biggest industrial non-food use of starch is as an adhesive in the papermaking process. Starch can be applied to parts of some garments before ironing, to stiffen them. Mixing most starches in warm water produces a paste, such as wheatpaste, which can be used as a thickening, stiffening or gluing agent. Slide 3 Starch is the major component of natural food, sometimes taking about 70% of the mass. Therefore it is important to know how starch content and its characteristics like size, cell thickness change starch digestion in gastrointestinal tract. Slide 4 In mammals starch is hydrolysed by enzymes into glucose through several steps. The first step takes place in the mouth were the salivary alfa-amylase reacts, but its efficiency degrades when it reaches the stomach

structures of all kinds. A group of experts should be convened in the USA and in other parts of the world where timber bridges survive to recommend a selection for nomination to the World Heritage List. Theoretical advances during the Renaissance and Neo-Classical period Thanks to Galileo, Renaissance mathematicians and scientists understood beam action and the theory of framed structures. The truss, used by the Romans as stiffening on the Rhine bridge (55 BC) and in roof structures, was refined by the Italian architect- engineer Andrea Palladio. His classic treatise on Greek and Roman architecture, I Quattro Libri dell'Architettura, was published in 1570, and was widely distributed after translation into English by Isaac Ware in 1755. It contained the first drawings of a truss, the simplest and most easily visualized form for transferring both dead and live

In addition, the 2-seam balloon and western jib designs are used, but not nearly so generally. Sizes of trawls vary from 30 to 90 ft (9 to 27 m) (headline) with the 40 to 60 ft (12 to 18 m) size range most common. Trawl size is designated by the headline length, excluding the leg lines. Synthetic netting primarily nylon, is used almost exclusively, due to its strength, resistance to deterioration and relatively low cost. After assembly, nets are tarred to reduce wear due to abrasion and as a stiffening agent. This is repeated periodically while in use, usually every six to twelve weeks. The use of each design is not restricted to specific geographic areas or species as might be expected, but instead all are used on all grounds. It is a common belief that a flat trawl has inherently a wide spread and a low opening height and that the balloon trawl opens high. This is not necessarily so. Although all types could be

The main reason for this is the diamond shaped curtain wall that had to line up perfectly with the structural steel. During the design phase, 3D models were used to determine the deflection of the inclined building faces. Based on that information, the reading room steel grid was reinforced by a series of raking columns and doubled up diagonal members called “amoebas.” The “amoebas” allowed the structural shell to achieve an optimal thickness, while stiffening the membrane and preventing it from crumpling. Structural steel sections were designed to limit their depth, minimize the number of connections, and unitized to fit on a truck bed. During fabrication, there was no need to create shop drawings from scratch, and risk overlooking something or accidentally entering the wrong dimensions. All the required information concerning member sizes, camber, bolt holes, etc., was already available in the 3D model.
