Boccaccio teose ,,Dekameroni" viimane novell. 1850. a B. Gildenmannilt pärinev ,,Kannatlikko Helena luggu" on samuti lühendatud tõlge prantsuse algupäraga saksa rahvaraamatust ,,Die schöne Helene von Konstantinope"l. Saksa rahvaraamatu kaudu jõudsid Eestisse ka inglise kirjaniku D. Defoe 1719. a romaanina ilmunud Robinsoni seiklused, tõlge Pärnu kooliõpetajalt H. G. Lorenzonnilt: 1842. a ,,Norema Robinsoni ello ja juhtumised ühhe tühja sare peal". 1840. aastatel läks ilukirjandusliku raamatu tegemine peaaegu täielikult eestlastest autorite- tõlkijate kätte. Kuigi suurem osa ilmunud teostest olid ikka veel mugandatud tõlked saksa rahvaraamatust, ilmus ka kirjanduslukku läinud trükiseid. Faehlmanni ettepanekul tõlkis ja eestipärastas Kreutzwald J. H. D. Zschokke karskusjutustuse ,,Die Brannteweinpest", mis ilmus 1840. a pealkirjaga ,,Wina-katk". Raamatus kirjeldab Kreutzwald viinajoomise
("ajaloolistele faktidele (Walter Scott[looja] "Ivanhoe", J.Kross "Mardileib Robinsonaad õpetliku sisuga kirjandusteos merehädaliste seiklustest inimtühjal saarel või mujal ürglooduses. Mõiste tuleneb Robinson Crusoest. Enamasti on need teosed kirjutatud päevikuvormis. Alaliigiks peetakse dzunglijutte. 20.saj hakati kirjutama ka paroodiaid, kus tegevuspaik oli sama, aga kõik ei olnud enam nii idülliline. (D.Defoe "Robinson Crusoe", ("Chr. V.
