To swear or not to swear ?

Swearing has become a natural part of the society. It can be said that almost everybody uses swear words, particularly popular is it among youngsters and teenagers. In this paper I am going to discuss the positive and negative sides of swearing and why people swear. Firstly, people swear beacause it helps to relieve stress and blow off steam, like crying does for small children, to camouflage a person's fear or insecurity, establish a group identity, establish membership in a group and maintain the group's boundaries, express solidarity with other people or just to add humor, emphasis or "shock value" (http://people.howstuffworks.com/swearing1.htm). As can be seen, swearing has many reasons, but the first one is probably the most common. Using a swear word to emphasize something is often necessary as it shows how people really feel about things Secondly, swearing can be also quite beneficial. family or the individual. Popular sports include the two national pastimes: Gaelic football and hurling, both strictly amateur sports. The women's version of hurling is called camogie. Hurling, a fast and skillful game, is played on a soccer-type field with wooden sticks and a small leather ball. Gaelic football is played with a round ball; its rules are similar to soccer, but players can touch the ball with their hands, although they cannot pick it up from the ground. The ball is punched, not thrown, and it can be kicked. Scoring is done in a soccer-type net, but, as in hurling, points can also be made for going over the top of the goal. Gaelic football is the precursor of Australian Rules football; the two sports are similar enough that Irish and Australian teams sometimes play each other with a set of compromise rules. The All-Ireland semifinals and finals, sponsored by the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA), are highlights of the hurling and Gaelic football seasons.

It was developed under a license by Sidhe Interactive in Wellington, New Zealand for the PlayStation 2 and PlayStation Portable and Nintendo DS. The game was first shown at the 2006 E3 behind closed doors. It is mentioned in the Jackass: Number Two commentary that the stunt where several members get punched in the face by a spring loaded boxing glove hidden behind a fake valentine on a wall had just come upstairs from shooting a promo for the video game. Johnny Knoxville and other members of the Jackass team also provided stunt ideas to the developer based on unused stunts from the show. A trailer and the cover art was released in June 2007 on the game's official website. DVD Releases Jackass: Vol. 1 (2005) - not taken out of the vault until 2005 Jackass: Vol

convinced that students would benefit greatly by having access to technology that would provide quick feedback on their writing. He also realized that the greatest hindrance to having secondary students write more was the requirement that, ultimately, a teacher had to review stacks of papers. While PEG produced impressive results, the technology of the time was too primitive to make it a practical application. Text had to be typed on IBM 80-column punched cards and read into a mainframe computer before it could be evaluated. As a consequence, the technology sat dormant until the early 1990s and was revitalized with the confluence of two technological developments: microcomputers and the Internet. Microcomputers permitted the generation of electronic text from a regular keyboard and the internet provided a universal platform to submit text for review (Shermis, Mzumara, Olson, & Harrington, 2001). Every night, they traded places. The one on the bottom was drenched by the other's urine during the night. The problem was not laziness but bad health, rendering Himmelstoss's ploy ineffective. The man assigned to the bottom often slept on the floor and thus caught a cold. Haie, Paul, Kropp, and Tjaden plotted their revenge upon Himmelstoss. They lay in wait for him one night on a dark road as he returned from his favorite pub. When he approached, they threw a bed cover over his head, and Haie punched him senseless. They stripped him of his pants and took turns lashing him with a whip, muffling his shouts with a pillow. They slipped away, and Himmelstoss never discovered who gave him the beating. Summary The Second Company is assigned to lay barbed wire at the front, an extremely dangerous task. As the men's trucks rumble toward the front, they pass a house, and Paul hears the cackle of geese. He and Kat agree to come back later, take the geese, and feast on them. The sound of

K. 1. One Day of Magic: I AT1:28 on the morning of December 7, 1941, the big ear of the Navy's radio station on Bainbridge Island near Seattle trembled to vibrations in the ether. A message was coming through on the Tokyo-Washington circuit. It was addressed to the Japanese embassy, and Bainbridge reached up and snared it as it flashed overhead. The message was short, and its radiotelegraph transmission took only nine minutes. Bainbridge had it all by 1:37. The station's personnel punched the intercepted message on a teletype tape, dialed a number on the teletypewriter exchange, and when the connection had been made, fed the tape into a mechanical transmitter that gobbled it up at 60 words per minute. The intercept reappeared on a page-printer in Room 1649 of the Navy Department building on Constitution Avenue in Washington, D.C. What went on in this room, tucked for security's sake at the end of the first deck's sixth wing, was one of the most closely guarded secrets of the

Why not? He'd asked-no, told -me to; he'd written the demand on his business card. And I'd get to hear his luscious voice again. The door opened and the masseuse came in. "Hello, Eva. You ready?" Not quite. But I was getting there. After many lovely hours at the spa, my mom and Cary dropped me off at the apartment; then they headed out to hunt for new cuff links for Stanton. I used the time alone to call Gideon. Even with the much-needed privacy, I punched most of his phone number into the keypad a half-dozen times before I finally put the call through. He answered on the first ring. "Eva." Startled that he'd known who was calling, my mind scrambled for a moment. How did he have my name and number in his contact list? "Uh...hi, Gideon." "I'm a block away. Let the front desk know I'm coming." "What?" I felt like I'd missed part of the conversation. "Coming where?" "To your place. I'm rounding the corner now

policy of "zero tolerance" is said to exist for incidents of aberrantly harsh hazing like those contained in two videotapes uncovered by TV news sources in 1997. The tapes depicted the practice of "blood pinning," in which marine paratroopers who have completed 10 training jumps receive their golden wing pins. The pins, each with a pair of half-inch points protruding from the back, are affixed to an initiate's shirt and then ground, punched, slammed, and slapped into his chest while he writhes and screams (Gleick, 1997). Despite claims of outrage and disgust from mil- itary leaders in the aftermath, only one of the 30 marines caught perpetrating the pain was recommended for discharge. A few were assigned to receive counseling, while the participation of most (20) was simply ignored. Official pronouncements of "zero tolerance" notwithstanding, I find it instructive that the slaps delivered to
