mood. Breakfast remains essential to a healthy lifestyle; it replenishes person's supply of glucose and provides other essential nutrients to keep your energy levels up throughout the day. That's why I consider breakfast to be the most important meal in the day as it is the first our meal in the morning and it can put us in good spirits for the whole day. Now I shall tell you about my own breakfast. In the morning I usually have porridge or corn flakes. Sometimes I start my breakfast with a cereal which is not cooked, it is something dry, ready to be eaten or muesli some grain or porridge which is not cooked with dried fruit, nuts and so on. I also like eating eggs (cooked in different ways). I don't practically eat butter; I prefer soft margarine made of vegetable fat, which is not heavy and creamy. I don't eat jam at breakfast, I

John Harvey Kellogg

Stanley (18241893). John lived with two sisters during childhood. By 1860, the family had moved to Battle Creek, Michigan, where his father set up a broom factory. John later worked as a printer's devil in a Battle Creek publishing house. With his brother, Will Keith Kellogg, they started the Sanitas Food Company to produce their whole grain cereals around 1897, a time when the standard breakfast for the wealthy was eggs and meat, while the poor ate porridge, farina, gruel, and other boiled grains. John and Will later argued over the recipe for the cereals (Will wanted to add sugar to the flakes), so in 1906 Will started his own company, the Battle Creek Toasted Corn Flake Company, which eventually became the Kellogg Company, triggering a decades-long feud. John then formed the Battle Creek Food Company to develop and market soy products. (John did not invent the concept of the dry breakfast cereal. That honor belongs to Dr. James

The usual meals in England are breakfast, lunch, tea and dinner or, in simpler houses, breakfast, dinner, tea and supper. For breakfast English people mostly have porridge or cornflakes with milk or cream and sugar, bacon and eggs, marmalade with buttered toast and tea or coffee. For a change they can have a boiled egg, cold ham, or fish. English people generally have lunch about one o'clock. At lunch time in a London restaurant one usually finds a mutton chop, or steak and chips, or cold meat or fish with potatoes and salad, then a pudding or fruit to follow. Afternoon tea can hardly be called a meal

Christmas in Norway

the lights are turned on. Read on to know more about Christmas traditions and celebrations in Norway. Christmas Celebrations In Norway While there are many customs and traditions linked to Christmas in Norway, there is one long- standing and very popular tradition that includes a little gnome Nisse, who guards the farm animals. It is believed that he plays tricks on children, if they forget to serve him a bowl of special porridge. The gnome is known as Julebukk or `Christmas buck,' and his looks are similar to those of a goat. Julebukk is associated with the Viking times, when the pagans worshipped Thor and his goat. The idea of Julebukk is very old and still, very dear to the Norwegians, especially around Christmas. During the Viking period, a person used to dress in a goat skin and carry a goat head on the Christmas Day. He would join the party and die during the course of the evening, to return to life. In

But she couldn't be strong any more and soon tears overhold her as well. Fast footsteps were heard again, but this time an older man entered the small room. "The doctor is here, Mary!" announced Elisa and ran off to kitchen to look after the porridge soup they were supposed to have for breakfast. "Hello..." said Mary and the old man bowed politely back. "My name is dr. Winchester I am the family doctor of the Ebes who live in a castle nearby. By the way I am your neighbor." SWEDISH FOOD

Koostas: Martin Aulik introduction It’s safe to say Sweden’s food culture is much more than iconic meatballs and chewy fish- shaped candy. Here are eight things you should know about food traditions essential to Sweden everyday dining. Lingonberry — Sweden’s favorite sauce Just like ketchup and mustard, lingonberry sauce is widely used to accompany a variety of dishes, from meatballs and pancakes to porridge and blood pudding. But despite its sweetness, it is rarely used on bread. Thanks to the Right of Public Access (Allemansrätten), which gives everyone the freedom to roam and enjoy nature, many Swedes grow up picking lingonberries in the forest, and using these tiny tart red fruits to make the jam-like preserve. Open sandwiches When you order a sandwich, don’t be surprised if it involves just a single slice of bread.

fog -- awful -- dense -- vehicle.-- dreadful -- English Meals The English proverb says: every cook praises his own broth. One can not say English cookery is bad, but there is not a lot of variety in it in comparison with European cuisine. The English are very particular about their meals. The usual meals in England are breakfast, lunch, tea and dinner. Breakfast time is between seven and nine a.m. A traditional English breakfast is a very big meal. It consists of juice, porridge, a rasher or two of bacon and eggs, toast, butter, jam or marmalade, tea or coffee. Marmalade is made from oranges and jam is made from other fruit. Many people like to begin with porridge with milk or cream and sugar, but no good Scotsman ever puts sugar on it, because Scotland is the home of porridge. For a change you can have sausages, tomatoes, mushrooms, cold ham or perhaps fish. But nowadays in spite of the fact that the English strictly keep to their meals many

--always wanting me to play and sing before anybody and everybody! If my vanity had taken a musical turn, you would have been invaluable; but as it is, I would really rather not sit down before those who must be in the habit of hearing the very best performers." On Miss Lucas's persevering, however, she added, "Very well, if it must be so, it must." And gravely glancing at Mr. Darcy, "There is a fine old saying, which everybody here is of course familiar with: 'Keep your breath to cool your porridge'; and I shall keep mine to swell my song." Her performance was pleasing, though by no means capital. After a song or two, and before she could reply to the entreaties of several that she would sing again, she was eagerly succeeded at the instrument by her sister Mary, who having, in consequence of being the only plain one in the family, worked hard for knowledge and accomplishments, was always impatient for display.
