The ground floor was a storage floor and here was also the initial entrance. This floor had a narrow light and airshaft and no embrasures. The ammunition was hoisted up through the openings in the domed vaults by the help of a winch. On the upper, defence floors the guns were rigged in embrasures that were provided with niches for the logs that served to stop the backlash. The floors of the embrasures were initially stepped to enable the men handle the guns better. The fireplaces on every floor were needed to get fire for the firearms. Reconstructions in the 16th and 17th century changed the original looks of the tower considerably. When the Ingermanland bastion was heaped up, two lower storeys of the tower became underground ones inside the bastion earth mound. The entrance from the bastion was made into the second floor. The four upper floors were reconstructed to suit the guns on wheel carriages. Most of the steps in the embrasure floors were levelled and

of the buildings of the City authorities It is estimated that it destroyed the homes of 70,000 of the City's The death toll from the fire is unknown and is traditionally thought to have been small By the 1660s, London was by far the largest city in Britain Many buildings were made of wood - The only major stone-built area was the wealthy centre of the City. Fires were quite common in the crowded wood-built city with its open fireplaces, candles, ovens, and stores of combustibles. They had self-reliant community procedures for dealing with fires, and were usually effective . Unfortunately all that didn't help. On 5 September the Great Fire was over. Samuel Pepys's diary (23 February 1633 26 May 1703) Samuel Pepys, was an English naval administrator and Member of Parliament, who is now most famous for his diary. The detailed private diary he kept during 16601669 was first

This research revealed the negative and positive sides of different heating systems. For example the positive side of electrical heating sytem is its convenience, but the negative is the need for electricity. The same is with solar heating where the initial investment is quite large, but in longer perspective it costs it self back, because money is spent only for maintenance what requires very littel resources. With this work I got the answers for my hypothesea. Fireplaces, stoves and cookers are indeed the most popular heating sytems in Estonia, mainly beacause their cheapness and simplicity. However collapsed the hypothesis, in which I claimed that in certain negative outdoor temperature the cost for heating will remain constant. Actually the cost for wood increased about 0,5 kg for every decreased degree on the outside temperature. Although at the moment the most popular heating systems are old fashioned fireplaces, stoves

everyday metabolism and causes us no harm. It can also be found in the air that we breathe at home and at work, in the food we eat, and in some products that we put on our skin. A major source of formaldehyde that we breathe every day is found in smog in the lower atmosphere. Automobile exhaust from cars without catalytic converters or those using oxygenated gasoline also contain formaldehyde. At home, formaldehyde is produced by cigarettes and other tobacco products, gas cookers, and open fireplaces. It is also used as a preservative in some foods, such as some types of Italian cheeses, dried foods, and fish. Formaldehyde is found in many products used every day around the house, such as antiseptics, medicines, cosmetics, dish-washing liquids, fabric softeners, shoe-care agents, carpet cleaners, glues and adhesives, lacquers, paper, plastics, and some types of wood products. Some people are exposed to higher levels of formaldehyde if they live in a new

When burned, biomass does release carbon dioxide, a greenhouse gas. But when biomass crops are grown, a nearly equivalent amount of carbon dioxide is captured through photosynthesis. Each of the different forms and uses of biomass impact the environment in a different way: Burning wood - Because the smoke from burning wood contains pollutants like carbon monoxide and particulate matter, some areas of the country won't allow the use of wood burning fireplaces or stoves on high pollution days. A special clean-burning technology can be added to wood burning fireplaces and stoves so that they can be used even on days with the worst pollution. Burning Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) or Wood Waste - Burning municipal solid waste (MSW or garbage) and wood waste to produce energy, means that less of it has to get buried in landfills. Plants that burn waste to make electricity must use technology to

9 The condition of utility systems The main reasons for the problematic performance of ventilation are restricted air inflow (small and not preheated) and insufficient air outflow (small and/or blocked air flow channels). The main problems of heating systems are low-efficiency stoves, restricted temperature control options in the case of stove heating, the heavy reliance on electricity as an auxiliary heating source and for heating the household’s water supply. The cleaning of chimneys and fireplaces is relatively lacking. Chimneys, fireplaces, and other factors affect the regular supervision of fire safety in wooden apartment buildings. The main problems with electricity and communications installation are: the cabling is located randomly on the wall, is not attached properly, the cable connections are without 307 sockets, the switchboards do not meet modern requirements, switchboards are located on
